Tuesday - What the Cards Know

Who: Gwen and Sofia
When: late afternoon
Where: a cafe on Eldritch

Sofia had woken up in blessed, blissful silence. Whatever had gone haywire the day before was apparently over. She'd gone to sleep eventually, near midnight, with earplugs in and a blanket over her head. Besides the disturbing idea of a living corpse in the house, the chattering of the spirits that she simply could not hear over, much less banish, had been keeping her awake. But they were gone in the morning. Sofia had checked in on Shoel, made sure she was sleeping peacefully, and gone by the spa to put in a few hours of work. It had been very bad timing, with Lola leaving them for a while, and she wanted to keep the girls unfrazzled as much as she could.

After their last client had departed and they'd shut down, she'd locked up and left. A phone call to Shoel later, and Sofia gone wearily to her favorite cafe and settled down with a flavored coffee. And her tarot cards. They were spread out in a compact pattern on the small round table in front of her. She worried her bottom lip and took a sip from her large mug as she consulted them. The weather outside seemed ominous, and the cards were not much better.

Seems it's going to storm later. )

Tuesday - A Little Guidance

Who: Tayne and Joel
When: late afternoon
Where: the Catholic church

After taking Sorcha to see Jane, Joel had largely left them alone. He was antsy, worried, and exhausted down to his bones in every sense of the word. But he let his sisters reunite and talk. He put in a call to Turlough to explain the situation, but didn't linger on the phone to go over again how amazing all of this was. He was past the point of amazed. Eventually he'd left Jane's house, and made his way back to Eldritch Island. He'd gone there that morning with a purpose, to go talk to God, and meeting Sorcha did nothing but make him want to do that more. He needed guidance before he fell apart under the flood of emotion, nostalgia, and weird grief. They would've been hard feelings to quantify for anyone, but for Joel they were too much.

He walked into the church, pausing to cross himself with the holy water, and headed up the empty aisle to sit in a pew near the front. The sanctuary seemed to be deserted, thankfully. The only audience he needed was his Father. Joel linked his hands together on the back of the pew in front of him and leaned forward until his forehead was pressed against them. He started to pray, murmuring fervently under his breath, letting it all out to God. Until his voice broke and the weeping started, at least.

It's all in His plan. )

Tuesday: Ego is Necessary

Who: Santiago and Cordelia
When: Early afternoon
Where: Cordelia's studio

Even though Santiago had long since misplaced the card Cordelia had given him, it didn't take much time or effort to track down the red-headed photographer's studio in Darkwater. There were only so many such things in town, after all. He'd escaped his business-related duties under the excuse of finding marketing support-- not that he needed an excuse, but it did keep his accountants happier-- dressed in a disgustingly conservative khaki-and-suit-jacket combo with only his usual make-up and jewelry as a nod to his oddness, and went out hunting. Sure enough, he found it within the hour.

After considering it a moment, he wandered right in, and investigated the pictures on the walls, first. If Cordelia was here, he assumed she would find him.

This had been a relatively productive little meeting, if a bit less flirty than he'd half-hoped. )

Tuesday: Agreeing to Spy

Who: West and Mac
When: midday
Where: Juicy Java

Mac was having a faboo day. She'd had a faboo evening the night before and a faboo night, and a faboo morning too. So all was well in MacLand. It was probably silly to be so excited over a boy, but she couldn't help it. M had kissed her. More than once, and it was awesome. They were going to date. Or at least have one. She didn't know when it would be or anything, but still! Date! With Emmanuel! Which was an event that required shopping! It was something she loved to do anyway, but doing it with something in mind was even better. So Mac hit up the mall.

Once her stomach was protesting, she and her bags walked down the way to Juicy Java, a dimpled smile firmly in place. It wasn't terribly busy, but she lingered near the door inside, eyes raking over the menu. So much of it sounded good, she wasn't sure what she wanted.

Tuesday: Dirty, Little Secret

Who: Sam and Chrissy
Where: Johnson's Beach
When: Late morning
Warning NSFW

Since Sam had to show Hannah around, he didn't make a lot of plans for the day, even though he knew it wouldn't take very long to walk around the island. And since he had a few hours to spare before he was supposed to meet her, Sam took the ferry over to the mainland to hang out with a couple of his 'friends'. That, of course, meant smoking some weed and listening to music, but he'd take that over playing sports or video games any day.

After awhile, he found himself getting bored, so he wandered out of John's house and started toward Johnson's beach. He liked the guys he hung out with, but occasionally he preferred to do shit on his own. Which right now, meant walking down the beach and smoking a cigarette. His eyes were bloodshot, and his hair was a mess, but he felt pretty good. Hopefully he'd settle a bit before seeing Hannah.

So maybe I do like you. )

Tuesday: Surprise (Second) Lunch

Who: Olivia and Tayne
When: Early afternoon
Where: The church, then a deli with great chili!

Since Tayne had told her before to surprise him when she decided she wanted to take him to lunch, that was exactly what she did. She had a day off, so she figured the best way to use it would be to hang out with one of her only friends in Darkwater. She just hoped he wasn't too caught up in fixing pews today. She drove to the church that afternoon and parked out front, deciding to run in and grab him rather than finding a legal place to park.

Stepping inside the church, Olivia immediately began to sweep her gaze around for any sign of Tayne. If she couldn't find him right away, she would have to go out and find a new place to park until he showed up. That was the downside of surprises, she supposed. He could be in the shower, or taking confession for all she knew.

I know I said I would surprise you, so... surprise. )

Tuesday - The Fastest Way To A Girl's Heart

Who: Corwin and Lola
Where: The van, then Portland!
When: Evening

While many people might've been disturbed by the rolling thunder and crashing lightning on the night of a major magical working, Corwin was actually pretty excited. The prospect of having actual lightning to try and summon, rather than having to black out half of Portland, was a good thing.

And he felt much recovered from the night before-- and the morning, in fact, since he'd had to rework all those spells he'd ruined in saving Jake and that'd left him feeling worn enough to nap all afternoon-- which was a very good thing. He needed to go into this alert and refreshed, so he could be as effective for Lola as possible. Everything he'd need-- and a few things he might not need, but had just in case-- was in the back of his van.

He pulled up to Lola's little cottage on the tiny little road, parked, and climbed out without bothering to shut off the engine. There didn't seem to be anybody for half a mile; nobody was going to steal his van. He came up to her front porch and knocked lightly.

Tuesday - A little warning.

Who: Sorcha and Jane
When: late morning
Where: Jane's house

The trip over to Darkwater with Joel had almost seemed surreal. They'd talked some, had remained quiet some, and it had struck Sorcha how natural it had felt to be with him. Almost as if they'd retained some trace memory of one another over the years that they hadn't seen each other, hadn't spoken. Then they'd gotten to Jane's, fortunately finding the girl home, and gotten through the introductions and the sheer oddness of the situation. Joel had left them and gone outside to do something, have a cigarette, make a phone call... she wasn't sure, and it didn't matter.

I'll be just fine )

Tuesday: That Explains It...

Who: Emmanuel and Ava
Where: Emmanuel's car, the plant shop, Ava's backyard
When: Noonish

As usual, Emmanuel was a couple minutes early to pick Ava up so they could go garden-shopping. He had a few packets of seeds and two pre-grown plants to add to whatever they bought, depending on Ava's taste, but he did want to get her started off right, so he brought some of his own growths for her, as well. He was still in a good mood from the unexpectedness of the day before, but he was also a little nervous, since he was supposed to tell Ava about the elemental thing today, too.

He parked the little Geo Metro in front of her house and climbed the walk to knock on her front door politely, stepping back and bouncing gently on his heels. He was, he had to admit, a bit excited to be helping someone with their garden, no matter what else was going on in his head.

Tuesday: Beer and Advice

Who: Camilla and Cian
When: Early evening
Where: the drugstore, then a bar outside Darkwater

Camilla was not a woman to really sit at home on a lovely evening and watch tv. She still had no job to speak of, and no real responsibilities, which meant she wanted to get out of the house and have some fun. She thought about going to Vapor, but she didn't think it would be as chaotic on a Tuesday evening as it had been Saturday. Instead, she decided to go for a short drive and visit a few friends that owned a bar right outside of Darkwater off of the highway. After she pulled her hair up into a high ponytail, Camilla pulled on a black dress that skimmed just above her knees, her leather jacket, knee high red and white striped socks and her Mary Janes. If she had worn pale make up and dark red lipstick, someone might have mistaken her for a goth chick, but her make up was understated, as it should be when going out for a drink or three. Some girls felt sexier with a ton of make up, but Camilla had no intentions of coming across as easy, especially in a bar.

She drove to the local pharmacy to buy a drink and a chocolate bar to munch on during the short drive, and ignored the fact that she ought to be probably out looking for a job instead of trying to avoid one. But there was always tomorrow. And the next day... and so on. She just had to wait for the right opportunity to fall in her lap. Walking inside, she went directly for the drink cooler to grab a water. The night was early, but she planned on riding it well into the darker hours if she could.

Tuesday: A Random Shopping Encounter

Who: Ashley and Art
When: late morning
Where: the grocery store

Ashley was mostly recovered from her weird ghost-banishing thing the day before. Mostly. She'd dozed at Liam's for a while, made her fumbling way home, zoned out in front of the TV for a while, tried to eat something and then fallen into her bed for a deep, full night's sleep. She still felt fuzzy-headed and sensitive to light, which would explain why she had a huge, stylish pair of Oakleys over her eyes in the grocery store. She'd realized that her cupboards were nearly bare, and thus she was pushing a cart around, shivering in the artificially air-conditioned chill, her medium-high heels clicking on the tile floor. Did she really have to have food? She was tempted to abandon her half-full cart and flee for somewhere dark and quiet, but she tried to persevere.

Tuesday: So Much to Say

Who: Sean and Will
When: late morning
Where: Portland airport, then the drive to Darkwater

Will couldn't remember a thirteen hour stretch in his life that had seemed longer than what he'd just experienced. He'd never flown before and at first the experience had been interesting, but by the second hour he'd become restless and wished he'd had an aisle seat instead of one next to the window.

It was strange being grounded again, but a welcome feeling as he shouldered his carry on bag and headed on through the many ridiculous screenings. It took another half an hour before Will was finally through customs and ready to get his luggage and see his brother. He scanned the small crowd of people waiting near the large luggage carousels for family and friends from his flight and others.

Tuesday: Long-Lost

Who: Sorcha and Joel
When: mid morning
Where: a cafe on the Island

Joel was having a tentatively better day than the day before, magic-wise anyway. Leaving his brothers behind hadn't made him feel much better, and he'd spent most of the day walking around in the woods outside of Darkwater, killing grass and plant-life wherever he stepped, and having a mini-breakdown. It was crazy and he didn't think his head would ever stop hurting. Around midnight, however, the effects of whatever it was seemed to have worn off, and he went home. He'd called and checked on Tur -- and Sean, by proxy -- and then dosed himself with enough whiskey to knock him out.

The next morning had him riding the ferry over to Eldritch Island, freshly showered and wearing sunglasses against the brilliant asshole sun. He needed to go to church, that was what he needed to do. He, however, wasn't doing it yet. Instead he was sitting at one of the outdoor tables at a quaint little cafe, with some coffee in front of him that he wasn't paying attention to. The past was all around him, and he was stuck in it, sitting very still.

she hadn't seen him since she'd been eight years old and he'd been eleven, but she knew this was her brother Joel )

Tuesday - Deciding to Play House

Who: Sibyl and Kaz
Where: The rear garden of Kaz's new mountain home.
When: Very early Tuesday morning.

Sibyl hadn't gone far since her admission in the kitchen of the new house. She'd crawled under the house to sleep, pressing herself into a dark fissure of rock beneath it. She'd woken to feeling a bit ill and worried about her heath for a while but the feelings had dissipated after her nightly hunt. After returning to the house she had cleaned herself up and then quickly slipped out the back door again.

Kaz had left his keys with her and so she'd used the car, driving until she'd located a Wal-Mart. Gardening supplies, flats of poesies and other easy little flowers were bought. She'd have to order the rarer plants she had in mind, pungent night-bloomers. For now, though, cleaning up the gardens would keep her busy and out of trouble. Ordinarily she didn't worry too much about the sort of trouble she caused wherever she went but tonight felt as though she ought to stick close to...well, if not home, then where she'd been left.

Do you wish to harm me? )
