Sunday - Nathan Applies For A Job

Who: Nathaniel and Lola
Where: Apartment and Teahouse Spa
When: late morning/not yet noon

Nathaniel stared pensively at the pair of twenty dollar bills laid before him. Only forty dollars left to get him through the next two weeks… His cat sat next to the bills, lazily cleaning a paw with her tiny pink tongue.

“Deka, I’d hate to break it to you,” he said, “but this is the last of our savings.” The cat ignored him and continued to clean, unperturbed by the news.

“Well, you’re no help,” he said flatly, pocketing the bills and standing up. He walked over to the front door of his small apartment, grabbed a jacket, and slipped it on. There was no way he could pay the rent with a measly forty dollars. For the past three months, Nathaniel had been living off of the grant money left in his bank account, but it was empty now. Since there was nothing he could do to change that, he supposed he should look into getting a job. Nathaniel opened his front door and bent down to pick up the daily issue of the newspaper. He flipped through its pages until he found the ‘Job Opportunities’ section. He trailed his finger down the short list of adds.
