Friday: What's News?
Who: Ashley and Cordelia
When: Early evening
Where: Juicy Java
Since Cordelia was getting off work prior to Ashley having to go to work, the two decided to meet up at Juicy Java for a coffee before Ashley disappeared into techno beats and flashing lights of Vapor. Cordelia was exhausted after a day filled with family portraits, screaming kids and overbearing mothers, but it was Friday night and she was determined to enjoy herself, seeing as how she would be booked for the rest of the weekend, both with Corwin and a scheduled wedding. Sunday would be her lounging around in pajamas day, if she got lucky enough.
Walking into Juicy Java, she glanced around for Ashley, wanting to make sure her friend was there before she actually went to the counter to order. The place looked sparse enough, but Cordelia had been living in Darkwater long enough to know that the teenage crowd would descend upon it once evening hit.
Ashley had slept very late, as she usually did when she worked until 2 a.m. She'd spent a lazy afternoon piddling around her small house, doing a hot oil treatment on her hair and giving herself a pedicure, and then she'd gotten ready for both work and to hang out with Cordy, since she didn't imagine she'd have time to go change clothes after they'd gotten coffee. She was indeed there, sitting at a table near the front windows so they could watch the rain that was falling outside, and she waved to Cordy once she'd come into Java. She had a caramel frap and one of the enormous muffins that were one of Java's specialties; the muffin was going to be dinner, most likely. She had a potentially hectic night at work ahead of her, and she didn't expect that she'd have any appetite during her shift, anyway.
Cordelia spotted Ashley waving near the windows and she returned it with a smile and wave of her own before pointing to the counter to indicate she was going to get her drink first. It didn't take very long, and about five minutes later she was heading in Ashley's direction with a french vanilla cappucino and a large chocolate chip cookie. Not her dinner, per se, but a pre-dinner snack. "Hey," she greeted as she set her things down, sat in the chair and began to shrug out of her damp jacket. Bits of her hair were wet and stuck to the sides of her face, but she didn't care. Rain was rain, and she'd dry up soon enough. Smiling, Cordelia was finally settled and she released a quick, happy breath. "Hope you weren't waiting long."
"Not long at all," Ashley said with a bright smile. "I had to talk to the manager here anyway about cutting out my hours for a while. I've got stuff goin' on at Vapor that might take up more of my time." She crossed her legs, swinging a foot clad in a high wedge heel instead of her usual stiletto; she figured she'd be on her feet a lot tonight, and she didn't want them to be killing her by the wee hours. "So what's goin' on, girlfriend?" she asked, using her plastic fork to carve another couple of bites out of the immense chocolate-white chocolate chip muffin on her plate. She lifted a bite to her mouth, making a tiny sound of satisfaction as she chewed. Fat and calorie heaven, and tonight she didn't even care.
Once again Cordy envied Ashley's shoes. Yes, she bought a sexy pair of black boots herself, but she hadn't worn them since that first night in Vapor. Maybe she'd ditch loose and casual attire the next time she and Noah went out. Cordy could pull off femme fatale if she wanted to. It just took some work on her part. Sipping her cappucino, Cordy's brows lifted at Ashley's comment about working at Vapor. Licking her lips of the rich taste, Cordelia shook her head. "No... you have to explain that first before I tell you what's going on. What are you going to be doing at Vapor? More DJing shifts? I guess that's good, right? Don't they pay you more there than they do here?" Still, Cordelia had to imagine standing on your feet - in those shoes - had to be murder some nights.
"Well, no," Ashley replied when Cordy asked her if she'd be doing more DJing. "I think I wish it was that." She smiled, although the closer to the beginning of her shift she got, the more trepidation she felt. "Santiago's lost his assistant. I don't know what happened or where she went, and I sure as hell don't dare to ask." She forked up another bite of scrumptious muffin and popped it into her mouth. Chocolate was supposed to be soothing, right? "But he's decided I'm replacin' her." She swung her foot and sighed. "I've gotta find out the full details tonight, and yeah, DJing pays more than here. I didn't think to ask him if I was gettin' a raise for being his assistant now."
That wasn't something Cordelia was expecting and she stared at Ashley for a moment before a smile broke out across her face. "Oh my god. I really don't know if I should tell you I'm sorry, or say congratulations. Being Santiago's assistant sounds like it's more of a full time job. And you better be getting a raise or I would kick him in the ass. There's a huge difference between DJing and assisting the owner." Besides, she got the feeling Santiago was the type to be a bit demanding of his employees. Cordy sipped her coffee again before asking, "Did you even get a choice in this? Do you want to be his assistant?"
Ashley laughed, even if it was a rueful sound that didn't contain much humor. "Why don't we wait to see if you should give me congratulations or condolences until I've done it for a few days?" she suggested. "I am so nervous." She mashed a white chocolate chip with her fork and sighed. "His assistant was super-efficient, so much so that I thought she might be a robot sometimes. Can I really do this?" It was nice to have someone to talk to about this who wasn't from work; she would have never been able to admit the slightest bit of doubt to a fellow employee. "I didn't get much of one," she admitted. "I mean, I'm willin' to try... I guess it's good that I didn't have time to talk myself out of it."
"You can totally do this," Cordelia assured her with a confident nod. "You know you can do anything. You've got the attitude and the people skills. Plus, you don't take shit from anyone. If Santiago doesn't respect that, you're better off working somewhere else." Setting her cup down, Cordelia broke off a small piece of her cookie to pop into her mouth. She wasn't just saying that to make Ashley feel better either. Cordelia couldn't imagine any scenario where Ashley wouldn't be able to handle her new position and excel at it. There would no doubt be a learning curve, but what job didn't have that? "Don't stress out about it. After a couple days, you'll know whether or not you can handle it. And in a few weeks, I bet you'll be laughing over the fact that you worried about it at all."
"I can totally do this," Ashley repeated, attempting to convince herself. It wasn't that she lacked confidence, more that this was a whole new realm for her. Would she be able to be efficient enough to please the mercurial Santiago Baquero? She was going to begin with the expectation that she could and hope for the best. She sipped from her frap and nodded, then said, "Thank you, cher. You always manage to boost my ego." What else were friends for, though? She cut up some more of her muffin and added, "So, I don't have any other news. It's been work and... work just lately. Add in a little bit of shopping and you've got my life this week. Now it's your turn." She smiled expectantly.
Smiling, Cordelia broke off another piece of cookie. "That's why I'm here. Besides, you know I would never tell you anything I didn't truly believe." It was hard to believe that work was all Ashley had to tell her about. She should have a long, epic tale of some gorgeous man she'd met and sexed up. Maybe their roles had reversed for the time being, as usually it was Cordy going on about work, and Ashley about her social life. A red flush creeped up her cheeks and Cordelia shrugged one shoulder nonchalantly, procrastinating in actually answering Ashley by chewing and swallowing the bit of cookie she'd taken. "Work, mostly," Cordelia finally said, sipping her cappucino after to wash the cookie down. Ah, hell. How often did she get to brag about going out with a gorgeous guy? "I went out with Noah Wednesday night. We went mini golfing, if you can believe that."
Ashley had no interesting stories about guys to share whatsoever. The last time she'd really talked to Liam had been on the ferry on Sunday, on the way home from that house party where the power had been out all night and the dude hosting the party's car had been set on fire. They hadn't had a disagreement or anything, but they simply hadn't connected again. Ashley was fairly blase about that, considering that she hadn't been looking for anything serious, anyway. Her attention was diverted by Cordy's sudden blushfest, and she watched her friend with a raised eyebrow, a faint smile on her glossed lips. "I was about to ask you what kinda work you were doin' that makes you blush like that, but okay, it's all clear now. You went mini golfing with the hot writer, and?" She waggled her eyebrows and swung her foot, her smile growing more coy. That blush had to be from something besides swinging a golf club.
Rolling her eyes, Cordelia unsuccessfully tried to stifle her smile. With anyone else she might have played dumb, or denied anything had happened, but this was Ashley and it had been awhile since Cordelia had been able to talk about any semblance of a love life. "Yes, I went mini golfing with the hot writer. And... we had a good time." Wrapping her hands around the warm cup in front of her, she smiled a tad mischievously. "Let's just say it was the first time I've ever spent the night on a boat." That had been a pretty pleasant experience itself. The bed and room had been small, but none of that bothered Cordelia. It had been a cozy atmosphere, with the dim light and the sound of the water lapping against the boat outside. Plus, she'd stayed warm by wrapping herself around Noah for most of the night. Thinking about that only sent mental images to the forefront of her mind of what she and Noah had gotten up to once they'd both woken up the next morning. That memory only sent a deeper flush against Cordelia's cheeks, which she tried to ignore by sipping her cappucino again.
"You go, girlfriend!" Ashley exclaimed, giggling at Cordy's expression when she told her she'd spent the night on the boat. It was about time her friend found somebody she liked in that fun, hot sexytimes way, in her opinion. "Sounds like it was a great night all the way around." Judging from that blush, it had definitely been. "I bet if you were late for work the next day, you didn't even care." There was nothing like that beginning of a fling feeling; she knew because she'd had it often enough, herself. Maybe she was more like her mother than she'd ever want to admit, she thought idly as she ate some more of her muffin. She couldn't imagine wanting something permanent with anyone no matter how awesome they were. Of course, she was young enough that she didn't feel the need to worry about that whatsoever. "So you think you're gonna be seeing him again?" she asked with a smile.
Cordy couldn't help but laugh at Ashley's reaction, since hey, who didn't like a bit of friendly encouragement? "It was a great night, yes. And yes, I was late to work, and didn't care in the least. I'm on time every single day, and some nights I stay later than I'm scheduled, so if my boss would have had issue with it... too bad." Thankfully Corinne, the assistant manager opening that day hadn't cared too much, seeing as how the studio hadn't had a single customer until lunch time. But Cordelia was certainly having those fluttery feelings, as she usually did when she started hanging around someone she was attracted to. It helped that Noah had been terrific in bed, because she was able to relive that one night - and morning - and enjoy the heated response of her body. And she'd relived those two moments several times that day already. At Ashley's question, Cordelia hesitated in answering with a small smile. "I'm pretty sure that I will, yeah." He'd called her right before she'd drove over to see Ashley, and given the flirtatious nature of their conversation, Cordy would have been surprised if she didn't see Noah again. "I like him. He's fun, intelligent, and has a great sense of humor. His body goes without saying." Pausing briefly, Cordy shrugged softly. "He knows I'm a mage now too. And didn't freak out so... add that into the positive column."
"Some things're worth bein' late for," Ashley said. She'd had that happen to her at various times in the past, definitely. Luckily not tonight, because she'd probably lose her job if she didn't show up early to get the scoop on what she was going to be doing from now on. She wasn't ready to think about work yet, though, so she pushed the thought aside. She smiled as Cordy described the writer, then broke into a laugh. "Oh, honey. A body like the one in that picture you showed me never goes without sayin'. Because, yum. Who'd believe that somebody who writes books for a living could look that good?" Guys with abs and muscles like that almost made her wish she'd studied anatomy in school. Well, hey, she could study it on an amateur basis the next time she found a guy who caught her interest. She sipped at her frap and then frowned a little when Cordy said Noah knew she was a mage. "Wow, how'd that topic come up in conversation?" At least with her, being a mage wasn't something she shared with many people at all, and she'd figured that her friend was the same way.
"Considering I hadn't had that excuse for being late to work in a long time... it didn't bother me in the slightest." It wasn't as if Cordelia had plans to be rocking Noah's boat every single night, but she wouldn't decline if he ever invited her over for a sleepover again. Grinning, Cordelia listened to Ashley, completely amused. "He works out a lot... when he's not writing, apparently. If I had my camera last night, I promise you I might have taken a few photos of him while he was sleeping. Which is totally creepy, I know, but he has this magnificent body that's going to be fueling my fantasies for quite awhile. He's also got a tattoo... double yum." She tapped her fingernail against her cup, smiling softly in reassurance when Ashley frowned. "He cut himself at the mini golf course, and I healed it for him. I know I could have just let him fix it up and deal with it, but... I don't know, I felt like I could show him and it would be okay. He's one of what, three people who know now? And I trust him enough to know he won't tell anyone else."
Ashley giggled when Cordy said she'd have taken photos if she'd had her camera. "What if he woke up while you were snapping pictures of him? That might be embarrassing to explain." She wouldn't really say it was creepy that her friend had contemplated taking photos of that hot bod considering that she was way into photography and took pictures for a living. It was... art. Or something like that. "I'd totally look at the pictures if you took 'em, though." She recrossed her legs in the other direction and swung her foot, smiling mischievously. "To critique them, make sure you still have it." She nodded when Cordy said she'd felt that she could trust Noah. "That's what matters," she said. "If he reacted well to it, that justifies your faith in him, I guess." Of course, she'd hope that Cordy had a good read on the guy before she'd decide to sleep with him. That made sense. Cordelia was more cautious than she was about such things.
"If he woke up?" Cordelia paused before smiling. "Well, I imagine two scenarios. One, he wakes up and freaks before kicking me off his boat. Or two, he finds it sexy and we take naughty pictures of each other the rest of the night." Shrugging, she lifted her cup to her lips. "I would love for the second scenario to happen, but number one is more likely. I don't know how he feels about that stuff. He seemed okay with me taking his picture on the beach the morning I met him, but naked, or half naked, photographs are something entirely different. And you know I'd share them with you, despite the massive violation of his privacy that would be." It was hard not to laugh. "For creative feedback, of course." It was easy to talk to Ashley about these things and not have to hold back. Corwin was fairly protective of Cordelia, so it was hard to really open up about certain things - especially regarding men. But Ashley allowed Cordy to say anything she needed to say, without judging. "I know it sounds strange to trust him that way after only knowing him a few weeks, but it's hard to explain." She could tell Ashley that Noah shared a secret of his own, but it wasn't her place to say anything about him being a shifter. "Even if things don't work out with him, I know he won't tell anyone."
"He sounds kinda laid-back," Ashley said with a slight shrug. "You really think he'd freak?" The second scenario could definitely be hot, provided there was no danger of the photos getting posted on the internet. Since it was Cordy's camera, there probably wouldn't be. She cut another couple of bites off of her muffin, knowing there was no way she was going to be able to eat it all. Still, she felt obligated to keep trying. "I think artsy naked photographs are awesome. Regular ones, not so much." She smirked. "I used to sneak peeks at my brother's nudie magazines, and some of the stuff was really gross. I guess you'd have to be a guy to get excited by that." She'd sometimes stolen the magazines and hid them, which had driven her brother crazy. Good times. "You should bring up the subject of creative photos and see what he thinks." She left that subject when her friend said she trusted Noah despite not having known him long. "Well, sometimes you just know," she replied. "You feel confident of them, somethin' clicks... it's really nice when that happens." It had been ages since she'd met a guy she clicked with like that, but she had faith it would happen one day.
"Oh, he's totally laid back," Cordelia agreed. "But not everyone enjoys getting their picture taken when they're completely starkers. Although, knowing what I know of Noah now, he might just find it amusing." She had no idea if she would ever even approach the subject with him, but hey, who knew? "What, you mean pictures you find in porn mags? Those are definitely more skanky than classy. But you know, a lot of guys like the skanky thing. Obviously, or those magazines wouldn't sell as well as they do. They're visual creatures, and obviously the dirtier the better." It was one thing to be kind of naughty in the bedroom, where there was privacy, but it was so totally different when you were naked, spread-eagled and in a magazine millions of men read. She nodded when Ashley mentioned finding someone to click with. It was a rare thing, for Cordelia, but she wasn't getting ahead of herself. "He's great. But we're just dating. Nothing exclusive, or serious... at least I don't think so. Obviously when I'm sleeping with a man, I'm not sleeping with anyone else, but...you know." Shrugging, Cordelia set her cup down. She didn't want to assume Noah felt the same way, although it made her a little uneasy to imagine him bedding other women while he was sleeping with her. Cordelia hadn't thought to ask him, since it wasn't any of her business. "What about you? How's Liam?"
Ashley smirked. "I've never asked a guy to take naked pictures of him," she said. "'Course, I don't have a camera, nor do I have photographic talent, so that makes sense." That wasn't to say that she wouldn't consider asking a guy that, if the circumstances were right. She was nothing if not creative when it came to fun things to do sexually. She chewed up some more yummy chocolate muffin and replied, "Yeah, most guys could get into skankness even if they wouldn't admit it. If you ever met my brother, you'd be surprised that he'd be into those, but I used to find them in his room all the time." Guys sometimes. Tsk. "Sure, you don't wanna get exclusive. You haven't known him that long," she agreed. It wasn't that she thought Cordy was looking to trade up at every opportunity, nothing like that, but she didn't believe in limiting her options and she didn't think her friend did either. They were young yet! She swung her foot and shrugged a shoulder when asked about Liam. "Last time I talked to him was Sunday, when we were ridin' home on the ferry from that house party he took me to. Did I tell you about that? We were the oldest people there. The party was bein' thrown by some friend of his who's still in high school."
Cordelia could only imagine Ashley asking someone to take naked photos of them. Knowing Ashley the way Cordelia did, she knew her friend would likely be very smooth and seductive about it. She'd likely get any guy to agree. Smiling, Cordy took another bite of her cookie. Every guy had porn somewhere, of that she was sure. Even the most straight laced, stick in the muds likely stashed dirty mags in their room. At their core, all men were the same, horny beasts. Even Noah, likely, but that was okay, since Cordelia felt like she would get to reap the benefits of that. "No, not right now. I'm more of a... let's see where this goes, kind of person. Other than with work, I'm not big into planning the future." Okay, so yes, sometimes it was hard, when she was photographing brides, and wedding parties, and all that girly stuff. It made her wonder every now and then, if she would ever wear a white dress, but it was certainly nothing she fantasized about every day. When Ashley mentioned a high school party, it took everything in Cordelia not to choke on the cookie she was swallowing. Coughing a bit into her hand, she picked up her cappucino to sip before speaking. "A high school party? Was there nothing better to do on a Saturday night?" She was teasing, but still. "I didn't know Liam hung out with high schoolers. Did you drink from a keg and make out in an empty room?"
"Seein' where things go is awesome," Ashley said with a nod. That was her inclination, too. She didn't even tend to plan out work, although here she was with a sudden change in her duties to contend with. Her philosophy of life seemed to be rolling with whatever happened and getting maximum enjoyment out of it. That was working out fine for her thus far. She smiled at Cordy's expression when she mentioned the high school party, because yeah, it was kind of silly. What was she supposed to really talk to a high schooler about? "Evidently not," she said, putting her fork down and picking up her napkin to wipe her mouth. "There wasn't an actual keg, but there was plenty of beer, some spiked punch. This kid's parents must've been loaded, because that was some house." She giggled. "I guess it was a typical high school party, from what I remember of 'em anyway. 'Cept someone set the kid's car on fire, and the power went out all over the island. The ferries weren't even runnin'." She drank down the rest of her frap and then licked her lips. "At least we snagged one of the guest rooms for the night, and we went a little further than most people do at high school parties." She batted her long-lashed eyes innocently.
Cordelia couldn't even imagine what she would say to a high schooler. Or, she supposed she'd have to having a texting conversation. That's all she saw teenagers do these days. Yes, Cordy texted, but she wasn't attached to her phone. Ugh, that made her sound old. Smiling as Ashley detailed the party, Cordelia tried to imagine being there herself. If it were anything like the parties she attended in school, then there had be making out and illegal drinking. "I can't believe you went to a high school party!" Giggling, Cordelia picked at her cookie. "I sure as hell hope Liam didn't consider that a date, despite the obvious fact that he got laid in some kid's house. Or, if not laid, then...whatever it is you do." Well, if they were stuck and there was nothing else to do, why not? "Are you going to go out with him again, do you think? Or was it just one of those short term flings?"
"It was kinda crazy," Ashley agreed. "If I'd known ahead of time, I might've found some reason why I couldn't go with him." Not that she had anything against high-school kids, but really, she was past the age where she wanted to hang out with them. "Oh, he got laid," she added, never one to mind giving a bit of TMI in a conversation. "There was nothing else to do, anyway!" She echoed Cordy's thoughts without knowing she was. "The power was out, it was late, we were stuck there until the next day. So... might as well get busy." She sighed and uncrossed her legs, then reached into her bag to find her phone and check what time it was. She didn't have much longer until she should head for Vapor. When Cordy asked if she was going to go out with him again, she replied, "I might, you know, if I see him and he asks. I kinda don't see it goin' anywhere." She tucked her hair behind one ear. "I think one day, Liam's gonna be a great guy. He's not really that mature right now." It might not be the kindest assessment, but in her opinion, it was the truth. He was total fling material, but that was about it.
Well, if he hung out with high school kids, Cordelia could absolutely see how Ashley might think he's not mature enough for a real relationship yet. "I might have done the same thing, if I were in your position. Hot sex is the best way to cure boredom. And with all the power out, and the crazy weather... why not?" There was usually no TMI between them, which was why Cordelia liked talking to her so much. Cordy could only imagine Corwin's reaction if she ever told him some of the things she admitted to Ashley. About Liam, Cordelia responded with a soft shrug. "You're not looking for serious anyway, right? So why not be flung for awhile, and then move on. Or at least fling for awhile until some mature, hot guy comes along and sweeps you off your feet. Or your six inch heels. One who won't take you to a party thrown by a kid in school."
"Crazy weather's a great reason to have some sex," Ashley said, smiling cheekily. "So's the power being out. You know that's how come everybody had so many kids back in the old days before there was electricity, right? Nothin' else to do at night." It sure hadn't been boring, anyway. Liam might lack a bit in maturity, but that didn't mean he wasn't amazing in bed. "There we were, in this big ol' house with most people gone home, locked in a bedroom in the dark. So, yeah." She began gathering up her trash, getting it in one place so she could throw it away more easily when she got up. She nodded when Cordy said she wasn't looking for serious anyway and said, "True enough. I'm all about the flings, when it's somebody who's worth my time, even for a little while." She reached into her bag for her compact mirror and lipstick. "Then someday, when I'm older but still hot, my prince'll come along!"
Okay, Ashley had a point there. Being with a man who was attracted to you in the pitch black, nowhere else to go... yes, Cordelia could definitely picture herself finding something carnal to do in the dark. She was finished with her drink, so she set it on top of the plate that held the remaining crumbs of her cookie. "I can't blame you... Liam's hot. Maybe not long term material, sure, but... yum. And be careful, your prince could come along while you're not looking and totally knock you sideways." Wasn't that when they said love happened, when you weren't looking for it? Besides, Ashley was fun and attractive, so Cordelia was sure eventually one of her 'flings' would turn out to be the real thing.
Ashley checked her teeth for crumbs and then reapplied her lipstick, giving her reflection her most careful scrutiny. She felt the need to look her best for the role of Santiago's assistant, confident and ready to face whatever challenges the night might hold. "I might go runnin' in the other direction if I found long-term material right now," she said, snapping the compact shut. "I'm totally in it for the fun." That was what being young was about, in her opinion. She made sure she had all of her things put securely back into her bag and zipped it closed. "But for now, I gotta be getting to work. I promised to be in plenty of time for Santiago to fill me in on what I'm doin' tonight." She managed to sound breezy and not at all nervous about that.
Cordelia eyed Ashley with interest. "I don't know... I think you might surprise yourself, if you found long term material. Long term material can still be fun, you know." She supposed it was time to get home and get caught up on some work. Too bad, because it might have been fun to go to Vapor and people watch for awhile. She straightened in her seat and lifted her bag off the back of the chair. "No problem. I'm in for a hot shower, organizing some photos and getting to bed early. Exciting for a Friday night, right?" A part of her wanted to stop by Noah's and see how he was doing, but for all she knew he was on a writing kick, and she didn't want to interrupt. Smiling at Ashley, Cordelia stood and picked up her cup and plate to put in the bin near the trash. "Don't be nervous... you're going to be great. Santiago will forget all about whatshername."
"It should be fun," Ashley corrected her with a smile. "I guess the fact that it never has been for me means I've been considerin' the wrong guys as long-term." She didn't sound perturbed by it; it just was. She got up from the table, balancing carefully on her wedge heels, and slung her bag over her shoulder. "Every night can't be super-excitin'... well, unless you're me and you're kickin' it at Vapor most nights." Hopefully she'd love her new job just as much, and if she didn't, maybe DJing occasionally would hold her over. She'd just have to see. "Thanks, I hope so," she said, picking up her own trash and stepping away from the table. "If something catastrophic happens, I'll text you." She wasn't so sure that her boss would forget Miss Amanda, but maybe the sting of her departure would fade after a while.
If she didn't have to work the next day, Cordelia might have found something exciting to do for the night, but she had a full day of work ahead of her and she needed to at least attempt to sleep. Which reminded her that she needed to refill her prescription if she planned on getting any rest next week. But tonight, Cordy had complete faith in Ashley, so she was confident that she'd get no frantic texts later. "Call me tomorrow and let me know how it went should nothing catastrophic actually happen," Cordelia said, placing her dishes in the bin and readjusting her bag over her shoulder.
Ashley was right behind Cordy to toss her trash into the bin. Once she had, she brushed her hands off and stood up straight, putting her shoulders back. "You got it," she said with a smile. Once she stepped through the doors of Vapor, she needed to project complete confidence. Fake it 'til you make it. She thought she could do that. She gave Cordy a quick hug. "I'll talk to you soon, hopefully with good news. You have a good night, cher, okay?" It might not involve the hot writer, but men weren't everything, right?
"You too." Cordelia returned the hug and smiled as she pulled away. "Good luck tonight." Opening the door for them both to walk outside, Cordelia figured a night to herself would be perfectly fine. She could catch up on things and relax. Giving Ashley a wave, Cordy headed for her car.
