Tuesday: Touch

Who: Jessalyn and Mikael
When: Evening
Where: Peterman's Seafood Fest/Mikael's apartment

Despite the awful thunderstorms earlier in the day, Jessalyn got word that since the rain had cleared up, the seafood fest was still going on as planned. Jessalyn had no doubt that it would have, considering it was an annual festival that most of Darkwater, and a lot of people from Eldritch, made the trip to attend. The night was chilly since the rain had cooled things off, but Jessalyn still wore one of her signature sundresses with a green cardigan. Her hair was piled up in a tangled mess on top of her head, a clip stubbornly holding it in place. She'd picked up Mikael soon after she figured she was ready enough, and the two had driven to Peterman's, where there was already a crowd among the vendors outside.

"You would think working in a restaurant, I would get sick of food," Jessalyn told Mikael as they walked through the crowd and she breathed in the scents of frying fish. "But I'm starving."

God, but he was falling in love with her. )

Monday: Discussions of Weird Things

Who: Jessalyn and Tayne
When: Afternoon
Where: The church

Since she didn't have to work until later that night, Jessalyn decided to take the ferry to Eldritch to visit Tayne. She had no intentions of going into the woods to shift again, not after meeting that mean woman. The day was stifling in it's heat, and Jess tried to stay cool on the ferry ride over, although she was feeling sticky and uncomfortable by the end of the commute, even in her sundress and sandals. By the time she walked to the church and up the stairs, she was sweaty and wishing she had brought a bottle of water. Thankfully the church was cool as she stepped inside and started toward the front. With any luck, Tayne was around and she wouldn't have to start searching all over the island for him. Jessalyn was already imagining shifting into a small animal once she got home and finding the beach to splash around in the water for awhile.

Tayne was around, and he was really enjoying the warmth, since he was sure it wouldn't last. It never did. At least in the church itself, it never got that hot, what with the cool stone and the trees on either side. He was working on respelling the church, since it obviously needed it, currently in the farthest corner from the door. When the doors opened he immediately tucked the little wand of rowan he'd been using into his back pocket, where someone coming in wouldn't see it, and then turned to face whoever it was.

"Oh, Jess! Hey." Well, he didn't have to worry too much about magic with her around. And here'd he'd been thinking of calling her, just yesterday, hadn't he?

There was a woman in the woods I met last week. She wasn't very... pleasant. )

Thursday: Dreams and Desire

Who: Mikael and Jessalyn
When: Evening
Where: Mikael's apartment

With the fog surrounding the island, it was difficult for Jessalyn to get back to the ferry in time to get a ride back to Darkwater. She managed to make it, however, although she was disappointed that she hadn't been able to stop in and see Tayne. She wanted to tell him about the strange woman in the woods, but Jess supposed she would have to just wait until she was able to visit again. It was a rare occasion when someone unnerved Jessalyn, but Neta had managed to do it. She was torn between feeling sympathy for the rude woman, and never wanting to run into her again.

She had the entire ferry ride to think it through, and once the boat docked in Darkwater, Jessalyn started home on foot, determined not to let the encounter bother her so much. Clearly that wasn't going to work if she stayed home alone that night, so when Jessalyn got back to her apartment, she changed into a dark blue sundress and a white cardigan, leaving her wild mass of blonde hair clipped up from her face as she'd worn it at work earlier. Before anything else had a chance to distract her from her planned evening, Jessalyn got into her car and drove to Mikael's apartment. The fog wasn't as bad on the mainland as it was on the island, but she drove cautiously anyway. The last thing she could afford were car repairs if she happened to crash.

It didn't occur to her until she was parked and walking up the stairs to Mikael's apartment that she probably should have called first. He might not have been home, or maybe he had company, but Jessalyn had already made the trip, so she was reluctant to turn around and leave. If she could figure out how to unlock her cell phone, she'd just call from the hall, but that would have taken far longer than she preferred. So she stood in front of his door and knocked, listening intently for the sound of multiple voices inside.

He blushed harder and looked down at his guitar as she spoke. That was part of it. Confidence. He could muster it for the stage and for singing for her and even singing for his family, but really putting himself out there? That was another matter. )

Thursday: Trying to Shake the Smile

Who: Jessalyn and Neta
When: Late afternoon
Where: Eldritch/woods

Jessalyn had finished her lunch shift and soon after found herself on the ferry heading to the island. She wasn't quite sure how the decision came to her to make the trek to Eldritch, but Jessalyn often just found herself breezing along with whatever random thought came into her mind, and after work, she felt like running about the island for awhile, and maybe even stopping in to say hi to Tayne before dark if she stayed that long.

The ride found Jessalyn wandering around the ferry for the most part, seeing as how she didn't really have the patient to sit by herself for the entire duration. She even managed to snag one of the ferry workers for a long winded conversation about the weather and cloud patterns before the ferry finally docked on Eldritch. With her bag clutched against her side, Jessalyn started off toward the shops, spending a bit of time browsing through them. She managed to snatch a couple cute lip glosses from one of the stores, but was proud of herself that she'd talked herself out of taking anything else. Jessalyn was constantly berating herself for stealing, but it was a very hard habit to break. Baby steps, she figured.

What the hell are you doing here? )

Wednesday: Quirks and Ice Cream

Who: Jessalyn and Tayne
Where: Church on Eldritch
When: Late afternoon

Jessalyn had worked the lunch shift at the cafe that afternoon, and when she clocked out, she realized she had no plans for the rest of the day other than to maybe buy some groceries. It wasn't the most exciting thing, and her brain worked overtime to try and come up with another plan before she resigned herself to spending the next couple of hours in the grocery store. Jessalyn was nothing if not thorough in her grocery shopping, and she tended to read almost any package she picked up. Then she had to smell it, of course, because if it smelled bad, she couldn't buy it. By the time she got home and changed into a sundress and cardigan, Jessalyn had come up with the thought to visit Tayne. It meant a fun ride over to the island on the ferry, and the opportunity to even shop at the cute clothing stores if she wanted to before she came home.

Normal isn't always boring. )

Monday: New Old Clothes

Who: Jessalyn and Dessicant
Where: Thrift store
When: Afternoon

Since Jessalyn didn't have to work until later that evening, she decided to stop by the thrift shop in town and see if they had any new cute skirts in. She enjoyed making her own clothes, and sometimes she could find a used piece of material and make it into something of her own. She rode her bike that afternoon, singing softly under her breath as the wind blew her hair about her face and shoulders. By the time she got to the shop and climbed off her bike, her hair was a bit of a mess, though she didn't make any attempt to fix it. She was a bit oblivious to things like that, and after setting her bike up against the building, she breezed into the shop with a bright smile on her face. Her eyes darted behind the sunglasses she wore that were too big for her face, searching for one of the shop's employees so she could ask about any new pieces.

Do you mind helping me out? )

Sunday: I Saw Something

Who Jessalyn and Mikael
When: Late afternoon
Where: Around

Jessalyn had enjoyed the movie thoroughly. She always preferred funny movies to scary ones, since she couldn't understand anyone who would want to be scared over wanting to laugh. Plus, she was with Mikael, who was really fun company and, as she noted several times during the film, smelled really nice.

After the movie, Jessalyn wasn't quite ready to go home yet, so when they exited the theater, she glanced up into the sky, realizing that they had a couple hours of daylight left, which was nice. "So what do you think?" she asked with a bright smile in his direction. "Do you want to maybe drive to the beach for a walk? It might be fun to see the waves after a storm like last nights. Unless you're ready to go home, then I could drive you. It's up to you!"

Sunday - First Date

Who: Jessalyn and Mikael
When: Afternoon
Where: Lunch and the movies

Despite the horrible, awful weather the night before, Jessalyn was determined not to let it ruin her 'date' that she was supposed to have with Mikael. Thankfully the rain and everything had died down some by the time she had taken a shower, gotten dressed and readied herself to leave the apartment. She knew they were going to have lunch, and then catch a movie, and such simple things were incredibly exciting for her. Honestly, she couldn't remember the last time she had been out on a real date, and hopefully Mikael would have fun. It didn't take a lot to entertain Jessalyn, but she also knew the same couldn't be said for everyone.

She wore her usual clothes, a flowing skirt that rested against her calves, her sandals and a light top with a sweater in case it was chillier because of all the wind and rain. She left her hair down, but for a couple pieces pinned up to keep out of her face. Around noon she drove to Mikael's building and struggled with her phone for a few minutes, attempting to text him. She couldn't really remember how to do it, and the cell kept asking her to save the text to Drafts, which continually confused her. Eventually she tossed it into the back seat and got out of her car to walk upstairs and knock on his door if she could.

If Mik could be more insecure about his dealings with romantic-type relationships, he'd be a cloistered monk. Fortunately, he liked people and he enjoyed sex, so he wouldn't be taking any vows any time soon. )

Saturday: Riders on the Storm

Who: Noah and Jessalyn
When: Late night
Where: The marina

True to her word, Jessalyn had brought back Noah's clothes he'd loaned her when they had their mysterious shifting episode a few days back. After leaving Mikael's apartment - with a date! - she had gone home, cleaned up her apartment some and then washed Noah's clothes. Thankfully she hadn't shrunk anything, and after folding them neatly, she placed them in a plastic grocery bag and set them on the table. Almost instantly she forgot about them, thanks to her roommate arriving home and dragging Jessalyn out for pizza.

It was late when she got back, and the night sky was ominous cloudy. The winds were picking up too, but once Jessalyn saw the clothes on the table, she grabbed the bag and headed out on her bike again toward the marina. She supposed she could have waited until morning, but she'd promised him she would give him back his things, and it had already been several days.

Saturday - Working for a Living

Who: Jessalyn & Mikael
Where: The Seaside Cafe and Mikael's Apartment
When: Saturday Lunch Rush

Mikael Lundvall tugged at his black, leather driving gloves - a nervous habit - as if they might have slipped some time during the lunch rush and his hands were suddenly exposed somehow. They were firmly in place - as always - and he breathed out a quick breath while he waited for the appetizers for table number five: four women who were so engaged in conversation with one another that they seemed incapable of pausing for air. Well, at least they were happy. Happy people tended to tip well.

The bell pinged and he turned his head.

"You're up," one of the cooks said. Mik nodded and picked up the four salads, balancing three - two on his right forearm, one in his right hand - and the fourth in his left hand, which he would use to distribute the others. He was good at this, fortunately for him. In the loose 'uniform' of black pants, black shoes and black shirt of some kind - today, his was a button-down, long-sleeved shirt - he reached the table, smiled and placed the salads to the left of each woman. The conversation slowed a little, like bullet-time from The Matrix, until he left to get them more water. Occupied with the timing of their next course, he had no idea that some of their conversation was about him.

Dense? Not really, but sometimes, Mik was oblivious.

You could give me a ride on yours someday though, if you wanted to. )

Friday: Shifter Interview

Who: Hannah and Jessalyn
Where: Jessalyn's workplace
When: Early evening

Headquarters had gotten back to Hannah pretty quickly late that afternoon with a couple names, and the promise or one or two more given a couple days of investigation. Unfortunately, all the names they gave her were all on the mainland. So she bucked it up and took the ferry, though she had every intention of leaving some clothes somewhere on the mainland, so she could fly it in the future.

But for now, she'd found the workplace of a shifter named Jessalyn Lainey-- she hadn't been at her house, so here was her only other option. Headquarters had only given her those two addresses. She came in the little restaurant and looked around, not sure what the girl would look like. The hostess seated her, and she asked after this Jessalyn person.

Is this because of the naked bit at the marina? )

Thursday: I got stuck being a squirrel!

Who: Jessalyn and Tayne
When: Late afternoon
Where: The refectory

After Jessalyn left Noah and was finally home, she headed straight for the shower. Jessalyn didn't mind getting dirty every once in awhile, she lived for being outside, but spending the night as a squirrel, being chased up trees and through town from time to time hadn't been fun, and she was eager to get some of that grimy feeling off of her. Afterward, she dressed in a white peasant top, and blue skirt that reached her ankles. Her wet hair was tied up unceremoniously, and once her sandals were on her feet, she headed out toward the church to see Tayne.

Do you think I should say some Hail Marys or something? )

Thursday: This is Awkward

Who: Jessalyn and Noah
When: 8am
Where: Near the marina, then Noah's boat

Jessalyn hadn't quite known what to do with herself since the night before, when she so suddenly, involuntarily shifted while she had been riding her bicycle home from the library through the awful weather. It was scary enough to be shifting without actually wanting, or meaning to, but the worst part had been not being able to shift back. Her bike and bag of books had gone tumbling, and she found herself as a squirrel, of all possible things.

She had run all the way home, but her apartment window wasn't open, or even cracked wide enough for her to shimmy inside. The lights were off, which meant her roommate wasn't home, so there was no chance of Jessalyn even scratching at the door to get any kind of attention. So she spent the night trying to find a safe place to park herself. She thought about shifting into a cat, or dog, but she didn't need animal control spotting a stray running about. Not to mention all of the possible predators out there that could try to eat her if she attempted a bird, or rabbit. A wolf would just scare people!

It might have been more subtle to offer to take her for a ride on your pen...er, boat. )
