Saturday - Mud or oil?

Who: Ava & Samuel
Where: Cian's Party
When: Evening

Sam had wandered off from Shoel and Dax, idly looking around Cian's house. He hadn't been there since he was tiny and he barely remembered why he'd ended up at a birthday party at the Anderson's. Things had changed since and he idly filmed a few random angles of walls and decorations - what for? He didn't know.

His eyes were fixed on the screen and as he turned the screen showed him a pair of breasts. Unfortunately they were nicely covered by a shirt [or whatever she is wearing!] but a nice shape none-the-less. He raised the camera slowly to get from the pair to the pair's owner's face and, with a sheepish grin, looked past the screen and straight into said face when he found out whose it was. It belonged to Ava Connelly, bosom buddy to the host who hadn't really invited Sam - not personally anyway. It was a big party though, hopefully she wouldn't have him kicked out. "Miss Connelly," Sam said in a cheerful greeting, keeping his camera focused on her face. "Lovely evening, innit?"

Not as lovely with that damn camera in her face )

Saturday: Riders on the Storm

Who: Noah and Jessalyn
When: Late night
Where: The marina

True to her word, Jessalyn had brought back Noah's clothes he'd loaned her when they had their mysterious shifting episode a few days back. After leaving Mikael's apartment - with a date! - she had gone home, cleaned up her apartment some and then washed Noah's clothes. Thankfully she hadn't shrunk anything, and after folding them neatly, she placed them in a plastic grocery bag and set them on the table. Almost instantly she forgot about them, thanks to her roommate arriving home and dragging Jessalyn out for pizza.

It was late when she got back, and the night sky was ominous cloudy. The winds were picking up too, but once Jessalyn saw the clothes on the table, she grabbed the bag and headed out on her bike again toward the marina. She supposed she could have waited until morning, but she'd promised him she would give him back his things, and it had already been several days.

Saturday: I Know

Who: Cian and Misty
Where: the party
When: 9:30ish

Cian had been doing his host thing, wandering around outside and putting out the tiki torches he'd had lit as the wind got higher and higher; nearly everyone was out of the pool by now, and the poolhouse was full of people drying off and changing in the bathroom in there. He'd talked to a few people, found Ava again to steal a few kisses, although he hadn't taken the time to tell her about Taryn hitting on him. There'd be time for that later. Now he was back inside and sauntering through the den, figuring he should go check the food and booze situation again. Man, giving a party was hard work. He headed through the back hallway to the kitchen, feeling as if he'd traced this route over and over tonight.

Whatever it is... it doesn't work on me. )

Saturday: Of Dates and Friends

Who: Corwin and Cordelia
Where: Cordelia's house
When: Afternoon

After killing time at the house for a few hours, waiting for Cordelia to get off of work, Corwin headed out again. The weather was breezy, but still bright, so he wasn't too concerned about driving into a storm in the next hour or two. You never knew, with Darkwater, but you could at least be reasonably certain it wouldn't turn from clear to wild in the span of half an afternoon.

He parked in front of her house, climbed out-- Davey in tow, because the little siamese had snuck in after him; it was a pretty common occurrence, really-- and headed up the walk to knock. This time, he'd brought food, though it was just muffins and coffee, like last time. It was hard to go wrong with a muffin and coffee, no matter what time of day it was, and it was one food one was usually in the mood for, unlike if he'd decided to pick up Mexican or Chinese or something. Knock was exciting, since he had a cat under one arm, and the back of muffins in the other, balancing the coffee carton at his elbow.

Stop being stupid or I may have to kick you. )

Saturday - The Dance

Who: Jake & Art
Where: Vapor
When: Saturday Night - 9:30pm

Art was nervous. Jake had called - finally - and they'd agreed to meet at the club Saturday night. He was wearing his jeans, running shoes and a button down shirt in a dark blue that he thought suited him. Wallet in his pocket, keys in another. He was clean, hair still a little damp from the shower. He was set. Leaning against the wall of Vapor as the music throbbed from inside, Art had one foot on the wall and both eyes on anyone who came near the doors. There was no sign of Jake yet, but he wasn't worried. A little nervous, yes. Worried? Maybe that would happen later.

Jake threw her little black car into park and pulled down the visor to check her make up one last time. She had a few twenties folded tightly in her hand as she stepped out onto the paved lot and took a moment to surreptitiously fold them into the waistband of her black and lime checkered tights. She tugged the banded bottom of her shimmery black blouse down over her hips. The wind whipped all of the fly-away strands of hair around her face and Jake was glad she'd opted for a messy bun tonight instead of a sleeker look. It felt like rain any second, and she could feel the static charge in the air around her. She didn't dawdle amongst the cars, dashing for the door quickly. She spotted Art waiting and slowed her pace just so that she didn't do something ridiculous, like trip, in front of her date.

Sometimes she gave Art a little space, sometimes she danced in close, close enough for him to feel the slip of her silky top. )

Saturday: Party Hard, Bird Boy

Who: Hannah and Sam
Where: Cian's party
When: Right around blackout time

Hannah had been at the party a little while before she finally spotted the one face she knew, Sam the shifter. She'd downed a few beers and the one wine cooler she'd managed to snatch, and was feeling pretty good, now. She'd been by the pool, though she refused to go in, done a little dancing in the living room with various guys of various types, and then headed towards the doors for some fresh air, another plastic cup of beer in hand.

That was when she spotted him, stomping, or so it looked, towards the house from the backyard. She waved cheerfully. "Sam!" she hollered, hoping he could hear her over the sound of the music and people.

Dude, alcohol is more than enough for me, I don't need any other drugs. )

Saturday: Distractions

Who: Cian and Ava
When: Late
Where: Cian's house
Warnings: NSFW

Most of the people had left the party by now, using Cian's unfortunate car fire as an excuse to hurry on their way. A car fire meant authorities, and given the fact that there was underage drinking going on, Ava couldn't really blame them all. She stayed behind, of course, and did her best to pick up the empty cups and trash while Cian stood outside and talked to the cops regarding the car. She didn't really know what to take from it, other than someone set it on fire deliberately, because really, how else would it have happened? Her first thought was fire elementals, duh. And gee, which fire elementals did they know? Only Ava wasn't sure Jessica and or Jordan was really that bitter and insane to do something so... damaging? She had no idea, but she'd definitely be finding out.

I didn't know you had my attention. I'm not that bright, I guess. )

Saturday - Weathering the Storm?

Who: Shoel and Solana, later Sofia
Where: The streets, then Shoel's house
When: Night, after the power goes out

The storm had started pretty much right as Shoel got to the graveyard, but she hadn't left immediately. There were trees all around, and the weathervane and steeple on the church, to catch lightning should it come to earth anywhere nearby, and it wasn't really pouring or anything, so she just settled herself down under some tombstones to watch the lightning.

She still had a curfew, however, so she couldn't stay there long. After about an hour of laying in the grass, listening to rolling thunder and shrieking wind, seeing streetlights wink out all over the neighborhood, she finally picked herself up, grabbed her little party-purse that she'd brought along, and started back towards her house. With everything else that'd happened that evening, the last thing she wanted was Sofia being mad at her.

With a disappointing end. )

Saturday: Mage Interview

Who: Hannah and Ashley
Where: Ashley's house
When: Midday

Hannah's superiors hadn't really come through with any other names beyond the few she'd gotten the night before, so she made her harrowing trip back across the channel between the mainland and the island to deal with the last couple of them. One name apparently lived in a cute little brick duplex with flowers out front.

Odd surrounds for an umbrancer, but then, Hannah probably wasn't what you thought of when you thought phoenix, either.

She climbed up the walk to the half of the house that supposedly belonged to one Ashley Adedayo, tucked her notebook under one arm, and knocked.

Saturday: Borrowing A Shirt

Who: Cian and Taryn
Where: the party
When: evening

There were enough people dancing on the concrete patio near the pool and in the den, to which the sliding glass doors were open to the outside that it was hard to see the floor of either one. Cian was pleased with his sound system and even more pleased that evidently their next-door neighbors had gone to Nova Scotia for two weeks, thus were not home to complain about the volume of the music. He'd forgotten about that until he'd noticed how dark their house was tonight. He'd been dancing with Ava-- and stealing kisses as he had the opportunity-- and then he'd been in the poolhouse finding every extra towel he could lay his hands on. Done with that task, he decided to head back into the house to check on how things were going in there.

He pushed through the masses of gyrating bodies in the den and emerged into the back hallway. He passed a couple of people making out in a corner, then glanced toward the door to his dad's office, wondering if M was making use of the key he'd loaned him. He stuck his head into the kitchen and saw that it was about time to put some more chips into the huge bowl he'd set up next to the salsa and queso dips, so he opened the pantry and dug in there to find some.

Saturday: Passion Interrupted

Who: Mac and Emmanuel
When: During Cian's party, right around blackout time
Where: Cian's house, dur

After a very ... interesting talk with Misty, Mac was ready to find her semi-sorta-boyfriend-guy again. She was feeling kinda tired and drained, and more headachey than buzzy, and she thought she had kind of an idea why, but it was just so off the wall that she was trying not to assume. She'd never seen an aura behave in that manner before, and even though it was fascinating, it had done something to her. She was ready for the comforting circle of M's arms again. And maybe a shirt, because she was feeling kind of cold in just her bathing suit and a towel. After weaving through the crowd for a bit, she spotted Emmanuel and made her way over to him, laying a hand on his arm once she was close enough and smiling faintly.

The touch to his arm made Emmanuel turn away from where he'd been watching people coming in from the pool-- it looked like it was getting stormy, so people were, wisely, coming inside-- and he smiled at the face he saw. "Hey. Having fun?" She looked... a little drawn and tired, which was weird and trouble-some. He wanted to put an arm around her, but he wanted her to be able to see his lips, too. He really needed to work on that sign language thing.... Instead, he just put his hand on her shoulder and asked, "Everything okay?"

A sudden lack of lighting. )

Saturday - Unwitting Party Snack

Who: Misty and Mac
When: a little after nine-ish
Where: Cian's party

Mac was having a fabulous time at the party so far. She'd had a couple of beers, but drank them slowly enough that she was only feeling slightly good. She wasn't ever a girl to get really trashed, and tonight was no exception. There'd been eating, laughing, poking people to say hello, and then some swimming. Though she was a bit self-conscious about being in a bathing suit in front of so many people -- another reason for the couple of beers -- Mac adapted to it quickly. M was swimming, after all, and she was definitely enjoying the time with him.

Eventually she got a bit waterlogged, however, and got his attention away from Cian to tell him that she was getting out for a while, she'd catch up to him later. Dripping all over, her hair a complete mess, she got out and went hunting for her towel and a hair-tie. Once she was suitably wrapped and her afro puff was tied back, she wandered to where the drinks were, someone moving farther back in the yard catching her eye.

Misty had scooted to the patio to snag a beer out of the cooler before retreating quickly to a large boulder set on the edge of the garden. It was quieter over there, with hardly any traffic. The two kids from her foster home, PJ and Patty, were already well on their way to being sloshed. Misty was glad that they seemed to have forgotten she was with them. Other people, she noticed, were starting to give them sidelong looks and she thought it was only a matter of time before the owner of the house - whoever that might be - would have to evict them. Misty would go with them, she decided. No reason to hang around here. It would be better if she trailed the other two home, just to make sure they got there okay.

Fascinating. )

Saturday: Checking In

Who: Cian and M
Where: Cian's party
When: evening

So far, so good, Cian thought as he headed back downstairs. He'd gone to change from his sopping swim trunks to a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, figuring he'd stay dry for a while. He had to make sure shit was running smoothly and all. So far, nobody had drowned or puked or broken anything that he knew of, so he was optimistic about his chances that his parents might not even find out he'd had a party if everything continued as it was. That'd be awesome. He just hoped they wouldn't call tonight while it was going on, because he'd never hear the phone above the steady bass of the sound system.

He jumped the last four steps down to the main foyer and staggered, nearly running into M. "Sorry," he said with a cheesy grin. "Didn't see you there."

Saturday: A Train Wreck

Who: Sam and Shoel
When: Evening
Where: Cian's party

Sam arrived late, as he had planned to, and the party was pretty crowded and in full swing by the time he got his feet inside the door. He could smell beer and cigarette smoking wafting in from the pool area, but it didn't bother him. In fact, it wasn't long before someone had shoved a plastic cup in his hand with a hearty slap on the back and sent him on his way. He was stopped a few times, chatted with a few people, but kept his eyes open for Shoel. He knew she was here somewhere, but she was quiet and often times kept to herself, so it was up to him to track her down. Sipping his beer, he started off through the house, moving toward the back where the pool was. He knew she wouldn't be swimming, but that didn't mean she wouldn't be out there, observing. Just in case though, he pulled out his cell and texted her quickly.

Saturday: Pool Challenges

Who: Shoel, Sam, and Dax
Where: Cian's party
When: Night, before blackout

After being soundly defeated by Ava in air hockey, Shoel had gone back to what worked for her: pool. Not the pool, since she still wasn't all that interested in getting soaked while still in her clothes, but pool, the game. She'd already given Ava a good game there-- though Ava had done much better than she'd claimed she would do, too-- and wanted more.

Leaning on her pool cue after a rousing round with one of the drunk jocks who thought they could show the little weird girl what-for at the typically male game, and winning twenty bucks in the bargain, she called out to the rest of the downstairs game room, "Who else wants to try their luck?"

For all I know, you wield special powers over pool tables and these little balls obey your every whim! )

Saturday: Before the Storm

Who: Sorcha and Joel
Where: Sorcha's place
When: evening

Sorcha felt barely recovered from her narcoleptic spell earlier, although hopefully she'd managed to be awake enough not to ruin the simple dinner she'd cooked for herself and Joel. It smelled good, anyway, the aroma winding itself through her small apartment as she set the small cafe table at the edge of her kitchen for two. It had been a perplexing afternoon with the unprecedented afternoon nap, horrible dream visions and then Christian coming over to compare visions. He probably thought she was horrible with the way she'd just dropped off on the wicker couch on her screened porch; Sorcha hadn't really stopped fretting about that since she'd awakened again.

Dinner preparations completed, she wandered out onto the screened porch, listening to the incessant noise of the wind and the almost frantic tones of the windchime in the backyard blowing around. It was going to storm. She absolutely didn't have to be psychic to know that, she thought with a faint smile.

Saturday - Bless Me, Father

Who: Tayne and Joel
When: morning
Where: the church

Joel rode the ferry across to the island early that morning, with a mission in mind. With nothing but coffee and nicotine in him, he was a little antsy, walking around the cars that were parked and watching the water go by. It wasn't a terribly long ride, but it seemed interminable to the Irishman. He hadn't had a proper confession since he'd been in Darkwater, and his soul was itching for one. He needed it, especially after the night he'd had. It wasn't that it had been a bad one, quite the opposite, really. Meeting Jake in the computer cafe had just spurned all kinds of dreams in him once his head hit the pillow. Dreams that he needed a priest for.

He made the walk to the Catholic church swiftly, bypassing people as they headed off on their regular business on the island. Once there, he stepped through the doors to the sanctuary, already feeling a little more at ease, surrounded by all the stone and dark wood. He crossed himself with the holy water and walked further in, head swiveling around to search for the priest. Tayne.

For I have sinned. )

Saturday: Party Chat

Who: Ava and M
Where: Cian's party!
When: Early-ish in the evening

After Ava left Shoel to wander back upstairs, she decided to detour on her way to find Cian and get a beer. She wasn't a huge fan of the stuff, but it was something to sip on for awhile, and since she didn't really like the taste, she wouldn't chug it to the point of getting completely wasted. To her, that was completely logical, so she made her way to where the kegs were, trying her best to keep the voices out of her head. She wasn't succeeding all that well, but then, she hadn't really expected to. Already she knew that Carly Jamison was pissed off at Marie Honeywell for flirting with Jason Kind... someone was totally bored and wanted to get high... someone else wanted to find Scott Sprader and make out with him, and someone near her, since their voice was the loudest, was singing Lady Gaga in their head.

Pushing her way to the keg, she grabbed a red plastic cup and looked over to see M there. Smiling, she nudged him to get his attention. "Having fun?" Where's Mac? she wanted to ask, but refrained for the moment. She'd seen them together earlier after all.

It's nice to get totally sappy every now and then. )

Saturday - Revenge

Who: Jessica and Jordan
Where: Eldritch Island
When: Evening

Anyone who knew the Delaneys, or knew of them, was aware that it didn't take much to rile them up and just because something happened a long time ago, it didn't mean that it was forgotten. The girls clung to every little slight and while they didn't always take measures to get even right away, they sometimes did it months, even years later. It was also impossible to know when they felt that scores were settled. An act of revenge did in no way mean that they were done with their enemies and at times, when they had no rage left, they still felt the urge to act, only because the opportunity was there.
