Hello and greetings, everyone. I introduced myself previously, but we've had some newcomers arrive since then. My name is Erwin Smith. I'm a commander, so pleas forgive me as it's something that I'm used to doing from before. I have a few of my soldiers here and we would like to invite you all to train with us on our mobility gear. It allows us to essentially fly through the air, to train and to fight if needed. I have one of our best swordsman here; he's also the best at the mobility gear. Don't let him try to tell you otherwise.

I'll let Hange explain away how the gear itself works, if she'd prefer; but imagine that you can shoot yourself through the air and fly through the trees, basically. The training would be a free class, naturally. It would be something that we would offer. If nothing else, perhaps for those of you who wanted to do something different for exercise, well, this would certainly be it.

So, who would be interested in participating in such a training?

I would be incredibly grateful if someone could please inform me as to why the police in Centurion Square seem to believe I am some form of smuggler! Why would they believe I would take interest in such a petty crime?! One of the witless, morbidly dense fools tried to have me arrested!

I think we should skip Valentine's and go back to Lupercalia. It's far more interesting. Animal sacrifices, fertility blessings... Really, it does have something for everyone. So... We have a sister now do we, Thor? Did you know about this? Our Mother is safe, at least for now.

Either we find a way to calm her, or we find a way to seal her away like Father did. And while I would not be apposed to simply killing her, she is my sister... I am more than fully aware that I could have turned out like her. I suppose that is what may have scared Father... Perhaps he saw me becoming more and more like her each day.

I want to try and convince her to turn from her path. And if not, then I will find another way to stop her. I do no know how many of you trust me. Perhaps my actions will speak for themselves soon enough.

I'd like to ask about something. I've arrived here from 1940, and my family and immediate community are very traditionalist for the time. Old-fashioned, you might say. When I was growing up, I was very often told that I couldn't do things because I was a girl. As I got older, I didn't let it stop me from following my ambitions, but I also got rather good at persuading and placating and otherwise winning round the men who told me I shouldn't. Men may be more suited to certain pursuits, but that doesn't mean women aren't capable of them at all. One has to be clever about it, that's all.

I don't see those attitudes here in Preya, for the most part. Certainly not on the telephone network. What I do see, however, is a level of crudity and disrespect that really does frighten me. I'm not so naive as to believe none of the men back home thought that way, but they at least had the decency not to share their thoughts with all and sundry. Aren't you terribly worried by it? And why do you think they do it, if they don't think that they are superior to women?

I suddenly understand why many do not care for Mondays. When I stopped in at the Police Department this morning on the way to my Council office, it looked like the sequel to Bugsy Malone. The Fire Department main station house did not look much better. Any available assistance would be appreciated, especially those willing and able to help care for an overwhelming number of lost and frightened children.
