I must admit, I'm getting quite excited for the holidays! I've already begun to decorate the home, but the last touch will be the tree. I think I shall wait until December actually rolls around to procure one. But what theme shall I do this year? I thought about paying tribute to my alma mater, but maybe it's better to keep that separated from Preya.

You all know that I don't like to interfere in anyone's private matters unless it is absolutely necessary. We are all here from different times, and we all have our own ways of doing things. But we are also family, and that has to mean something, and I won't have the family torn apart by frightful quarrels and lowered standards.

Cissa, dear, you're welcome to borrow my flying carpet whenever you like. There really isn't any call for using muggle motor-cars. If you ever have an urgent errand and cannot apparate, I'm sure Arcturus would be happy to go out on his broom and see to it for you.

Lucius, I'm glad that you consider yourself very much part of the family. I think it would put minds at rest if we had that formalised. Would the two of you set a date, please? Write back and inform me of it. And in the meantime I'm sure that you have the house-elves present indoors and so aren't in danger of any unpleasant accusations of less-than-honourable behaviour. Have the good sense to have them there when Arcturus is present, at least.

Arcturus, I admire your regard for tradition. I'm sure your father would, too. It's just troubling that you recognise the dangers of muggle cars, but not muggle homes. I think we'd all be happier if you moved somewhere safer and more magical.

I've been charming making pumpkins white and to glow all day long. I didn't know it was Halloween time, but I've seen them all across town so it must be!

One of the things I miss most about home is our family library. It was quite extensive, and many of the books were centuries old.

I was helping my cousin with his study of an arithmancy text this morning when it occurred to me that I might build my own library, here. I think it would be nice to have a project to work on, and I do have the space for it.

Well, this has certainly been an adjustment, but I find myself reluctantly falling into a daily routine. If it weren't for this texnology, it would almost feel like I was back at home. I certainly have one of the most important people here with me and I'm so thankful, I may be able to overlook some of the unsavory things here.

I am considering holding a traditional Halloween feast for the magical community in Preya, towards the end of the month. Is this something any of you would be interested in attending? For those of you who don't usually celebrate it, it is a very festive occasion, one of the most important in our calendar. There will be food and games, and ghosts are also welcome to join us.

REMINDER:

You have to have a bloody permit and a fire-person present to do a controlled burn of your bloody leaves. We've already had an incident come into the ER today.

I didn't actually know this about the permit until today but now I do. You Muggles just have to be messy about everything, don't you?
