So. Does anyone have any thoughts about why we're here and what we have to do?

On that note, anyone want to come exploring with me?

Hi, yes, hello.

Could I get someone who is noble and pure of heart, but also valiant and warlike to come help me pick up my backpack?

It's on the bus.

May require multiple assistants.

Anyone know what goats eat?

I mean, I know what they eat. It's everything. But what they're supposed to eat.

So we've been at this gold thing for a while. How many people have cashed in any of what they've found for those "special" currency we're supposed to be collecting? It sounds a bit like the prize tickets they give out in the Coney Island arcades if you ask me: meaning they aren't worth much.

[Lima Block]
That said, I think it's important that we, as a collective, cash in at least a portion of everything we find since we should be looking at this as a group. I plan to give it an extra push for Lima specifically if we're still doing this over the next couple days.

I don't want the block to be left behind because we failed to co-operate.
[Tony Stark (616)]
Clint is gone.

Hurts a little. Especially with the anniversary of -- you know -- coming up.

Who: Courier Six & Luke Skywalker
When: Day 6
Where: The other mine entrance.
What: EXPLORATION.
Rating: PG-13ish? Expect injuries, and it's Six, so expect swearing, lousy metaphors and loads of unintelligible, mid-century American slang, too.

Caves are funny like that. )

When I first saw the environment we were in I admit I was half expecting to have to farm for water. At least I would have known how to do that? Still this place isn't bad.

How is everyone coping with the heat?

So Bail and I found this button that said 'Network Restore'. I ended up pressing it. I don't seem to have noticed anything bad happen?

We're still here...

Enjoying being back in space? I know I've missed it.

[ SPACE FILTER ]
I've never really understood the human fascination with space exploration. I get why people were so enthralled with it before they knew what it was - singing spheres, sky monsters, actual heaven, that sort of thing - and I guess I can see why you might want to slip the surly bonds of an earth so thoroughly populated with shitty, shitty people. The fantasy escapist element is there. But now you know what it is: a whole lot of nothing (well, not nothing, but a whole lot of stuff that's just as good as nothing, seriously, stop barking up this dark matter tree, it's not that interesting) littered sparingly with a few somethings that are far enough away that you'll never get there in one lifetime, anyway. Do you think they're not full of shitty, shitty people? You saw the moon. It was literally empty. And then you wet back, like, a lot of times. What's the deal?

I've always been kind of a passable mechanic. I could make a speeder bike go again after I ran it up against a tree or dropped it too low over the river or it sat for a week in the humidity after the shed cooling unit busted. I could figure out what was wrong with our fueling pump, which was a couple years older than I was, and get it chugging. I could do emergency patch jobs on most starfighters, and a little more with the right droid. But I was never one of those guys who looked at the inside of an engine and figured I could make it better. I always had a friend or two who fit that mold: my best friend in school who had some new switch on her skiff's console every week, something she'd rigged up just for fun - just because she could - just to show off, most of the time. The guys who would put all their pride and joy in getting just a little more out of yachts, in having the absolute best of everything running under the deck. Mechanic is good work, I like it, I'm pretty good at it - but looking around the shop always makes me think of those people who would look at this same stuff and get inspired - and whip something up I'd never even have thought of. A lot of them were a lot, if you know what I mean, but they were all impressive. And it's a good drive, I think. To want to push past what things as supposed to do, and find what's next.

Guess I was out of commission and got relocated. Probably not for good behavior. Not gonna protest, purple is far more flattering than orange and the change of scenery is welcome.

So who the hell took my shit and where is my dog? And then drinks.

Well, this makes me the only farmer who actually knows what a "farm" is.

Guess first priority is going to be selecting a song for the training montage. So far I've got Big and Rich's "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy," "Down on the Farm" by Tim McGraw, and of course, the Kenny Chesney classic, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy." Full disclosure, we'd have about thirty-eight seconds more time for training if we went with Kenny Chesney.

Can we all move back to our old rooms now? Between Lima block and my new-old job on janitorial duty, this place is starting to feel a little bit too much like "home."

And whatever Baikal is, I am not about it.

I'm going to say something that -- probably -- most of you will have some kind of ethics problem with, and that's fine. But maybe -- just maybe -- if we talk about it we could potentially hit on why we're still here and what being stuck in directionless limbo like this means:

If you could conduct a social experiment on a group of unwilling participants, what would you want to test and why? There are no wrong answers, and if you want to clutch your pearls, you can. Just clutch them to yourself, because I don't care.

I've found myself thinking lately of all the places I always intended to go - places I had always assumed I would one day visit. I have never been to Coruscant. I have never traveled to the tombs in the orbits of Yavin or Endor. I've never seen Byss, or Eriadu. Of course I never had time for non-essential excursions, and was unceremoniously removed from my situation before I had the opportunity to reclaim some of these places - or indeed even to render them accessible to those of us who used to belong there - but all the same, I regret it. They are important places. The galaxy is full of them.

And now, a turn in the library is a venture.

Back when we were doing the Space Race scenario you mentioned there was a lab of some sort here?

I know everyone is scared of what happens next. I'm terrified.

But if it is what we all expect... I think it's my fault. And I'm sorry.
