I'm ready for something a little more mundane with a lot more pancakes involved. I guess I could make pancakes here, though. I just haven't tried it out.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what this is and I know we have these books, but I got a headache trying to understand. It sounds like something Nico would be excited about.

I am in the mood for blueberry pancakes. Basically have been since my whole life, but right now, my stomach is vaguely demanding them. Anyone want to go on a pancake adventure?

Now that there isn't anything trying to eat off our faces -- is there a kind of ice breaker or... small talk forum or something? I would like to get to know more about all of you, and besides my estranged brother, I don't know anyone here.

This is brilliant! I've never been to a beach like this. I think Pepper would like it here, and Brian too, but Wensley would hate it.

I've never played Volleyball before, but it's not been so bad, really. I'm still not that great, but it's been okay.

Apparently I'm going to be teaching you all about the wonders of living things. Meaning biology, if that wasn't obvious. You can call me Mr. Stamets or Paul. Frankly, I don't care.

I've never taught anyone younger than around twenty, and I never particularly wanted to. I would therefore highly appreciate it if you can all act like the young adults that you are rather than like children. I know rebellion is 'cool', but it's also a complete waste of everyone's time.

I'm also sure plenty of you are hoping that this will be a joke. Sorry, but if I'm being forced to teach, you are all going to learn. Might as well make something productive out of this ridiculous situation.

A few more things of note;

1. I will be ignoring anything in the textbook that is dated or otherwise faulty. Being misinformed is worse than being uninformed.

2. Do your work in pen. I don't want to deal with papers covered in chickenscratch that also smudges graphite all over my hands. No damn pencils. I'll tolerate pens because I didn't find a typewriter in my own house so I doubt the rest of you have access to one.

3. We will not be wasting time on pointless endeavors like making candy models to demonstrate the structural differences between animal and plant cells. If you want to make one for yourself, be my guest, but you sure as heck aren't going to be getting credit from me for it.

4. Constructive complaints are welcome, but unnecessary whining will be entirely disregarded.

Deal with all of that and we should get along just fine.

I don't want to play with the machine anymore, I want to have my hands back.

So does anyone want to get together and do something? Like go exploring or ice skating or something? Anything really. I'll even take sword practice over doing nothing. I'm not sure how great I am without my demigod abilities, but I'm willing to try it anyway.

I'm looking for a sparring partner to burn off some steam. Preferably not somebody that's wanting to show off how much stronger they are. I'd rather not break anything.

Are you ready for our upcoming first Christmas? Do we need to do anything in particular?

It's kind of weird to celebrate the holidays without an entire Roman Legion. It's probably not the first holiday with a bunch of mostly strangers, but it's weird to think about having no one from home. I've had a lot of time to sketch things, though, and I think that it's probably supposed to be an interesting learning experience. Still not sure I want to learn what I'm learning, though. At least not when it comes to everything outside of school topics (but even that's questionable).

For those of us not assisting with the return of the animals and release of the people. I was perhaps wondering if a group of us would want to put together 'care packages' for everyone? Those in the cages surely need something and if the people hunting are out too long they will too. I've noticed we've had numerous requests already and I admit I do hate feeling useless.

I miss my friends Back home there would have been a camp on the Long Island Sound. Which is about as close to New York as I've really been. Percy and Annabeth always said really nice things about New York, though.

If anyone knows a place that has shrimp gumbo around here, let me know. I don't expect it to be like home, but anything that reminds me of it might be nice.

Coming to New York always reminds me of one of the most important lessons I've learned over the course of a long, eventful life full of educational mistakes:

California is far, far superior to anything the rest of the country has to offer. There's no question - no contest - and no reason ever to leave.
