So, this is kind of awkward but I wanted to get Gretel a Christmas present, the thing is it's been so long since I really did Christmas or presents for a girl anyone that I sort of don't have the first clue where to start. Such tragedy at last nights performance. My deepest sympathies to poor Mademoiselle Vane's family and indeed her fellow performers, such a thing to endure.

I am not normally one for superstitious leanings but it is difficult to ignore that there have been many strange happenings surrounding the opera of late. It would not be truthful of me to say I hadn't at least fleetingly considered that dark forces are at work there.

A most enjoyable evening at last nights Opera house performance. My compliments on quite the wealth of talent. How terribly unfortunate that Mademoiselle Carlotta was taken ill and sadly unable to perform. I should have so liked to have seen her.

But it does not do to spend each day frivolously, I feel I ought to make a trip to the University Library in pursuit of literary knowledge.
