Dear Residents of Preya,

My name is Cassiopeia Black. For those of you who do not know me, I am part of Preya's magical community. I do not speak in any official capacity, but as a very concerned citizen.

It is my understanding that a number of the recent 'disappearances' were in fact residents of Preya being taken by ship to an island belonging to the ruler of Preya, for a holiday. While they may have enjoyed their sojourn away, I must condemn this action in the strongest possible terms. If the ruler and his advisors wished to extend the gift of a holiday to these residents, why in the world would they not inform them in advance, giving them the opportunity to notify their friends and family?

It is especially concerning if we consider that other, unexplained disappearances have taken place. One is hesitant to suggest deliberate manipulation of events or a wish to spread fear. I do suspect insensitivity rather than malice. However, it seems essential to speak against this. Where I come from, it is the duty of the community's most advantaged to have the courage to set an example to the others. I have not been personally affected by recent events, and that is why I am speaking out. As an observer, they seem both alarming and confusing.

I call upon the ruler, his advisors and associates, and the council of Preya to condemn kidnapping and abduction for any purpose, however well-intentioned.

Amirah - my friend Miss Shafiq, you know - was very amused by that particular inclusion on your list. She had her elf prepare it for me. Arcturus was a dear and went to get me the Pepper-up potion you recommended. He was rather distressed to discover that the other potions on the list don't exist. He couldn't find them no matter where he looked. Amirah told him it was a silly joke of yours, like sending someone to the broom shop for a long stand or some invisible paint.

His inconvenience doesn't trouble me. Something else does, though. There are very many things that we disagree on but I did think that I could trust you to respect my views, especially with such a delicate matter as my health.

I will be staying in Preya for an unknown amount of time. I will be documenting how the citizens live here while finding other employment. All information will go to the Vishkar Corperation and they will find a way to make the world better. Without all this... chaos.

Having just completed the acclimation course at the Abacus Institute (the instructors, such mythic patience), I can safely say I have not felt so inept in almost one hundr decades quite some time. I feel rather prepared, now, to meet this brave new world. Though, is there anything so banal as clacking away at these keys to communicate? At least a letter imbues the personality of one's penmanship. I do prefer the megascopes here for communication, such as they are without any complex incantations, though there is hardly anything mega about them as the case may be with these small screens.

Upon the subject, I'm told there are some rather adroit enchantresses in Preya. Splendid, I would like to make your acquaintance. It is wonderful to learn that I am not the first to eschew complexity in favor of greener pastures.

Hello, my beautiful people. After a year since my arrival, since I have started working, it is finally ready, just in time for the New Year. I, Sadji Samara, would like to introduce you to Menouthis. On the ground floor, you'll find a gorgeous (if I do say so myself) fine dining experience with a wide array of exotic foods - Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, so-on-and-so-forth. For those that do not find fine dining to be their cup of tea, you can descend into the Underworld - Duat, a brand new club experience. On both levels, you will find live music and entertainment - though I must say, the first week will be the finest with a number of dance performances, circus acts, fire breathers and such.

I hope everyone had a merry holiday! I woke to the greatest gift - a memory from Narnia. On Christmas morning, I found my cordial wrapped and tied with a bow. I haven't seen it in years and thought it was lost forever. It is almost like Aslan had a hand in that but I doubt it.

Does everyone have a resolution for the new year? I haven't decided whether or not I should even make one.

Christmas Day was splendid. I thought it would trouble me that I'm not at home, but someone here reminded me of the people I know who are almost never with their families for Christmas, because it is too far to travel. I am fortunate because I do have relatives here, even if they are that bit more distant.

Also, the most peculiar thing happened. An elf came to my door, and she was the very same elf who used to mind me when I was an infant in the nursery back home. It is nice to see her again, even if she really ought to be looking after baby Phinny. That is my nephew Phineas, but I don't suppose any of you know him either.

The best news of all is that I have a dog! He is a Labrador, just as I always wanted, and his name is Mitra. We went for a walk in the forest this morning.
