Tuesday: A Good Hostess

Who: Cordelia and Noah
When: Evening
Where: Cordy's house!

When she'd received the call from Noah, Cordelia was at work, finishing up a few proofs for a family with a newborn she'd just photographed. She had been busy, so the phone call was brief, but by the time they hung up, they had plans for dinner and Cordelia would be cooking. She had been to his boat several times, and he'd only been to her house once, when he'd picked her up and dropped her off on their first date. Cordy was looking forward to cooking for someone besides herself, and hey, he'd get to meet Pepper, right?

After work, Cordelia drove home, let the dog outside and then changed from her work clothes into a simple green sundress and then started the lasagna. It was a simple dish, one her mom cooked at least once a week for the two of them, so Cordelia knew the recipe like the back of her hand. She put it into the over, made a salad and buttered some garlic bread before letting Pepper back in the house and feeding him. The weather was pretty crappy, but warm enough that she left the french doors open in the back of the house anyway, since it wasn't raining into the house.

Wednesday - A Very Merry Zombie-versary

Who: Dax and Sam
Where: Mostly the beach and Dax's house
When: Early to late evening
Warnings: NSFW

"Here we are, outside my best friend's place," Sam told his camera, which was unsurprisingly already up and on even as he strolled down to the trailer Dax lived in. "Today Dax celebrates his eighteenth birthday and you bet your ass it'll be in style." He moved back and knocked on Dax's door, grinning into the camera before turning it to the door. "If the world wasn't ready for Dax at seventeen, it sure as hell isn't ready for Dax at eighteen but I can promise you it's going to be a wild ride and I will faithfully record all of it, just for you. "Someone's coming, let's hope it's Dax himself, in the flesh!" He grinned widely when it did turn out to be his friend and not his somewhat timid little sister. "It is he! Our hero. Happy birthday, Dax!"

I'm a one year old zombie now. I deserve a little more action than I've been getting. )

Wednesday: Dreams Come True

Who: Neta and Mikael
When: Mid-morning
Where: Near the church

The sun was going to come out again any minute, Neta was sure of it. But she was sick and tired of being shut in at that horrible, falling-apart house with all those damn ghosts, and even after being out all night-- which she had been, when she wasn't distracted by a nearby dream that sucked her in-- the thought of going back just made her want to hit something. So here she was, standing in the middle of an empty street as the last of the fog began to lift, hands on her hips, shadow-dragon coiled up small and meek beside her, glaring up at the sky. Daring it to burn her, or drain her energy, or whatever the fuck it was the sun did to her.

It could take her desire to do anything but grumble and hide under an overhang, but it couldn't take her anger. Nothing did that, especially not after her latest "adventure", when the light-bearer had up and vanished on her. Only the dragon and the occasional ghost even brought her a little reprieve. So there was the sun, and it was a convenient thing to glare at, at the moment, so she did.

Though not the pleasant ones, unfortunately. )

Tuesday - Sexy Revelations

Who: Jessica and West
When: Afternoon
Where: Jessica's house
Warnings: NSFW

When West received Jessica's text, asking him to sneak over to see her, he waffled, but only for a second. Obviously her parents weren't home, but he worried about them coming home while he was there, and then she'd be totally busted. That concern lasted about half a second though, because it wasn't like he was going to say no to her. They hadn't seen each other in a few days, and West was just as eager, if not more so, to hang with her.

Don't you think we could be friends with benefits? )

Wednesday: Lunch With a Friend

Who: Tayne and Olivia
Where: Eldritch Bar and Grill
When: Lunchtime!

The lack of rain was a blessing, and a relief, and it urged Tayne to actually get out and about a little before the crazy weather decided it was going to rain on him again. He spent the morning working in the graveyard, pulling weeds and cutting the wider patches of grass, and now that it was noon, it was time to get eating-- well past time. He was starving.

Rather than retreat to the rectory, where he'd been most of yesterday, he hopped in the truck and headed for the little pub where Olivia worked. Even if she wasn't there, he could do with some fried chicken and a cold beer that didn't come from his own fridge. He pulled up, hopped out, and headed inside, hands in his pockets and a cowboy hat belying his calling-- he didn't even have a collar on today, just a t-shirt. It wasn't like the whole town didn't know who he was without it, anyway.

Wouldn't want people to start thinking our Priest needed a bib. )

Wednesday: Itch to Scratch

Who: Torin and Jordan
Where: the Delaneys
When: afternoon
Warnings: NSFW

Torin had been lying on his bed with his laptop, doing some mindless internet surfing for lack of anything better to do, when Jordan had called him. What she had to say had him hanging up and flying through a quick change of clothes, brushing his teeth and combing his hair. Evidently the twins' grounding didn't mean that they couldn't have people over, and the news that Jordan Delaney was both bored and horny and wanted him to come by got him moving in a hurry. He was bored too, and he was a guy, which meant he was generally always horny, so it seemed like a win-win situation to him.

Wednesday: An Audience with an Immortal

Who: Santiago and Senturion
Where: Vapor
When: Late Evening

Senturion was not a woman who liked being in the dark about things. Arturion had told her a little about the magnetic man called Santiago but she had never seen him and this was unacceptable to her. She wasn't generally a very outgoing golem but tonight she made an exception, walking to Vapor shortly after ten PM and stepping inside. She was wary of being there, with her weight being her biggest concern, but Arturion had said it was a very sturdy place, made for crowds of people. Crowds of people tended not to put all the focal point on one small spot however so she wasn't entirely calmed by this theory. She'd stick to the ground floor and close to the exit and hope the floor held.

At the bar she ordered 'something sweet' and looked around at the people. There weren't too many there but still, a decent amount for a worknight. "I'm looking for Santiago," she told the bartender when he handed her a neon green drink with multiple straws and a slice of orange in it. It looked weird, but tasted delicious. He wasn't quite so willing to tell her where his boss was, but offered to let him know he was being looked for. It was better than nothing and Sen stood by the bar while the man darted off. She didn't want to break the fancy looking chairs by sitting on them, who knew just how many hundreds of pounds they were really designed to hold.

With all the expected questions therein. )

[info]wryandwatchful

Tuesday: A Supper of Vagueness

Who: Christian and Sorcha
Where: Sorcha's house
When: Early evening

Somehow, when he got off of work, Christian wound up just... walking. The streets were wet, but the rain was starting to slack off, and everything smelled fresh and clean and damp. He snugged his coat around him, even though it wasn't exactly cold, and drifted. Things were whispering, with the sound of rain that wasn't actually falling anymore, but it wasn't a hallucination he really minded-- it was so light and quiet that it was almost pleasant. He'd have to remember to take his medication when he got home that night, though he didn't think he'd missed it that morning. Probably something had just leaked through.

The drifting turned vaguely directional when he found himself in Sorcha's neighborhood. He hadn't seen her in a few days, and she hadn't called him again, but he could maybe stop by... see if she wanted to share dinner with him, maybe. There ought to be food in him sometime soonish, after all, right?

He finally wound up at her door, and stopped there a long moment, listening to rain that wasn't falling and trying to make that last decision whether he would risk annoying her, or not. In the end, though, he knocked, and put his hands into his pockets to wait, looking a little dreamily out across the street while he did so.

And getting along. )

Monday: It Was Him

Who: Sorcha and Joel
When: early afternoon
Where: Joel's place

Sorcha was only over on the mainland because it was cheaper to shop there than on the island. Eldritch, like many island communities, had more exclusive and pricey shops than it did moderately priced ones, and every penny was going to count until she got a job. So she'd gone to the grocery in Darkwater despite the intense heat, figuring that since she didn't have anywhere specific to be, what did it matter if she got damp with sweat? She was on her way out the door with two shopping bags when she saw it, and one of the bags fell from her grasp, splitting and spilling yogurt, celery, pudding cups and a cardboard carton of soymilk-- which fortunately didn't bust-- onto the grimy linoleum floor of the store's foyer.

The face glowered out at her from the front page of Darkwater's small newspaper... the face of the man who'd cut out her sister's eyes and hung her from a tree in Sorcha's dream. There was another photo of a different man alongside it, but his face didn't ring any alarms. She quickly rummaged in her purse for change, ignoring other store patrons who were also exiting and exclaiming over her spilled bag. She managed to fumble out a paper and cram her items from the broken bag into both her large purse and the other bag before fleeing the store. There was only one thing she could think of, and that was to get to Joel, who lived not far away from here.

Blood was thicker than time, in some ways. In others? It was hard to tell. )

Wednesday: Anti-Douchey

Who: Sam and Anna Lauren
When: Afternoon
Where: a sidewalk cafe

With the rain cooling things off the day before, Sam decided to take advantage of the nicer weather to drag himself out of the house. He didn't have to work that evening, so he had all day to do... absolutely nothing. Since it felt like it had only reached the sixties, he pulled on a faded, worn track jacket over his t-shirt and without much thought, pulled on the jeans he'd worn the day before. His idea of combing his hair was running his fingers through it a few times, because honestly he had no one really to impress, did he?

He walked today, deciding not to waste the gas in his car when he had no real destination in mind. He knew there would be a bunch of stuff going on over on the mainland, since it was coming up on the Fourth of July, but Sam was still unsure about whether or not he'd take the ferry over to check it out. If the weather stayed decent, maybe.

Wednesday: Coffee or Tea?

Who: Jane and Thomas
Where: A coffee shop in Darkwater
When: Midday-ish

It seemed prudent, to Jane, to put in more applications, in the hopes of getting... well, maybe not a better job, but one that the crazies of the town who apparently wanted to torture and/or rape her didn't know she worked at. Even if she knew she'd never manage long at a coffee shop-- hence why she hadn't applied, before-- she dutifully went into Starbucks and Solid Grounds and this little hole-in-the-wall tea-joint to turn in applications. If she couldn't get a job here-- keeping it was another story-- she was well on her way to buying some beach-front property in Arizona.

Monday: Remembering How to Get Along

Who: Jane and Sean
Where: some trees down by the beach
When: Midday

Jane was off work already. She'd gone in at five, and gotten off at noon, and she really didn't want to go home. Well, okay, didn't want to stay home. Her house didn't have air conditioning. So she'd stopped by, changed into cut-off shorts, picked up the little monster, and called her brother. One of the ones she could stand.

Now she was waiting down by the beach, in one of the few patches of shade she'd been able to find, with the little monster romping around in the sand and sun ahead of her, his little chicken-wings spread and all six legs pumping and tossing sand everywhere. He was almost cute. Well, "he". She didn't know whether it was male or female, but "it" was getting old, in her head.

Eventually. )

Tuesday: Needed

Who: Jesse and Tayne
When: late evening
Where: St. Florian's

Jesse had spent the day in a state of low terror once he'd gotten back to the lighthouse, and he wasn't entirely sure why. He'd rushed inside, for once savoring the sound of the lock clicking shut behind him and knowing that nobody could get in unless he let them in, and gone upstairs to strip off his wet and bloody clothes and take a shower. He had stood beneath the stream of water for quite a long time, occasionally looking at the scar in the middle of his chest. It seemed to be healing in some slow, time-lapse fashion; when he'd first gotten into the shower, it had looked as bad as the scars on his arms-- which he'd decided had to be some sort of reminder of what he'd done, or maybe a punishment, to still look the way they did after all this time-- but when he'd finally gotten out, it was less prominent, although still there.

The thought that had consumed him all day was, What am I? I don't eat, don't sleep, walk in dreams, and evidently I can't die. It wasn't that he didn't know he was something extraordinary, but each nuance that was revealed made him feel even stranger about it. Even worse than that was knowing there was another being like him, like a dark mirror image. A shadow, malevolent and unpredictable.

You look like hell, pardon the saying.... )

Tuesday: One Thing at a Time

Who: Trevor and Torin
When: evening
Where: Spencer residence

Trevor had spent most of the day agonizing over what he should do about his problem with Taryn before he ran out of time instead of writing. It felt like he should finally man up and take his own advice. And it felt as if he didn't do so quickly, he'd miss any opportunity he might have. It didn't help any that he was now convinced Taryn was determined to sleep with that Noah character. A man who wasn't even an elemental. It was abhorrent at best, even from a purely brotherly perspective.

But what could be done? Surely blurting out his feelings wasn't the best way to handle things. It would be the same as ripping a band-aid off as quickly as possible, just to get the sting over with. He'd thought of asking their parents if they'd consider the match, but he couldn't do so without first knowing how Taryn felt on the matter. He wouldn't condemn her to a life of unhappiness just to satisfy his own ultimately selfish wishes for her life. That would make him no better than their parents in regards to match-making.

Have you ever been in love? )

Wednesday: Illusions Don't Hurt Trees.

Who: Emmanuel and Jordan
Where: Jordan's yard
When: Late morning

While he was glad for the extra twenty dollars a week that another yard got him, Emmanuel was of mixed feelings about working Jordan and Jessica's parents' yard. Jordan was his friend, and he'd defended her... but he was also pretty sure she'd torched his best friend's car, and was still pretty hateful about Ava, who was also a friend. And Jessica was just plain bratty. So he was here to work, but he did kind of hope Jordan didn't come out to chat... it would mean having to deal with things he didn't know quite how to deal with yet. If he ever would know.
