Who: Performers and Patreons of the Opera What: Performance of Faust When: 8pm November 6th Where: The Theatre Status: IC/OOC ― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust: First Part For the actors, the evening begins at 6pm, where they meet backstage for a few final warm-ups. A grand opportunity for jealousy to fester, wounds to heal, or potential love to blossom (if there are any theatre suitors waiting in the wings for their newly beloved). The first three acts goes incredibly well, and at 9:30 the curtain closes, the chandelier lights up, and the theatre breaks for intermission. Oddly, a few of the patrons swear they felt a cold chill or breeze during the show, even though there is no discernible place it could be coming from. Most brush it off and any sense of unease is quickly drowned in copious amounts of fine Sokovian red wine. Towards the end of the act five, during the song Ah! Je Ris de Me Voir the chandelier that hovers in the expanse above the orchestra pit, between the stage and the front row of the audience blazes to life. Lights on, it shivers and sways before cord breaks and it swings towards the stage like a glittery disco ball of death. It hits an actress on the stage, and while the show must go on -- it is certain curtains for Sybil Vane. |
