Zero-g and burn training only marginally prepared me for that shit. But I'm good. I got out of it. So, of course, I'm going back into it.

I need at least one two strong enough ropes to use as a tether line, a good anchor, and maybe one or two volunteers with lower body strength who aren't afraid to put their back into it.

If anyone is still out in this and can do so, let me know where you are.

Would someone with a better moral compass tell me if those of us who are dry and warm inside the compound should be helping those on the beach escape the storm? Not trying to be an alarmist, here, but those are pretty strong winds.

Do any of these phones out? I mean. I know we're... in the past. Or something. But like, I watched Doctor Who. And there's this episode in the first season where the Doctor (he's like a time traveler) and Rose (his companion's name was Rose) go to the distant future where like, the world is ending because the sun went supernova. And like, they're in this space ship to watch the earth's last moments. And Rose realizes she needs to call her mom, and then the Doctor is like "oh hey you can use this phone," and so she DOES, and then it works even though it's like a million years from now, so like. Really, 70 years is like, basically nothing. I know a guy from now. Like, not well, or anything. I just met him a few times. He's super old old. Like super old.

This place is kind of beautiful.

I know it must be hard for people who have to live this way all the time - and I know it isn't real, but there have been places like this, and people who either had no choice but to stay, or who made that sacrifice - but the way a city or a world can come together in the face of constant assault should be an inspiration to absolutely everyone. When the sky's raining fire, you help each other, no matter what the rules are, no matter what your qualms with one another may have been the day before. It's the kind of proof that makes you realize law and power and all that other stuff are only superficial layers we put on top of things to make it look like we're in control.

But we're not, not here, and not anywhere else. There are things that will always stay the same, and you can't reshape those, and - you shouldn't want to. Because when it comes down to times that matter, those things always show through, and they're amazing.

I wasn't here the last time this moved and I haven't really been around much this week either so I don't think any of us have really been introduced but my boss said I should my names' Amos, I'm a fusion engineer and a spaceship mechanic. I'm from Baltimore in the year 2330-something. I figure an exact date is irrelevant what with it being a different universe and all.

It's nice to be sharing a cramped train car with you folks who don't snore like my last roommate did. But, you know, she had a good snore. It didn't bother me. I could sleep right through it. I just worry a bit cause I think she had a deviated septum and that's one of those things you ought to get looked at because breathing problems in space are a big deal.

Seriously?

I grow weary of such mindless excess.

Drinks that fill itself when you finish drinking. Ice that never melt. Plates of these... sweets we use to fill our bellies that offer us nothing of substance. We fill empty days with empty calories. With drink. With this - ostentatious nothingness while there are others who starve. Our bread and circuses.

At least when we fight to survive there is purpose in this. Better to struggle than to surrender to pull of mediocrity.

Okay, everyone, we're out of non-alcoholic drinks, so I've commandeered a pot, started a small fire, and am boiling lake water. Those of you that are drunk right now, I highly suggest you come over here and get some water in you because we all know that alcohol dehydrates the system.

I'm going to need someone to keep an eye on the fire while I sleep. Any volunteers?
