Week Twenty Three

Week Twenty Three
Dates: Monday September 3rd through Sunday September 9th
Season: Summer 2007
Month: Early September

Announcements:
The administration knows all students love to test the rules and push their guides a bit…but lets not pick the full moon as a time to do so. Attempting to sneak out to try to rile up some werecreatures is an all around bad idea. Please remember, students, to take the full moon very seriously. Some werecreatures are still brand new to the experience and do not know how to control themselves. Teachers are there to help protect but they have their hands full…don’t make the night more difficult on anyone then it already can be.

The Art Exhibit at the Lux Hotel went very well! Many pieces of art were sold and a great time was had by all. The Lux Hotel enjoyed the festivities so much that they are planning to continue to hold such events. Not every one will involve selling artwork no but they do plan to continue to display it. All artists of Halcyon are free to bring any work down to the hotel that they would like displayed.

The administration would like to remind students that your two week break will be coming up very soon. This means that your finals are starting up and we expect all students to study hard and do their best. During break you will need to pick out new classes, emails will be sent out to all students regarding classes over the break.

If anyone needs to make travel arrangements for their break please see to the front office or your guide teacher. With so many students here at the school we do need as much advance notice as possible to see to safe travel.

Study groups will be meeting three times this week. If you need help with studies for your finals please see to your guide. They can let you know when a study group is going that may be of help to you. There is also a list posted near the main office in the front of the school.

If you need a break from studies however, head down to the city! Many stores are having early fall sales going.

Week Twenty Two

Week Twenty Two
Dates: Monday August 27th through Sunday September 2nd
Season: Summer 2007
Month: Late August – Early September

Announcements:

This week is Be Kind to Humankind Week. Or as some of us like to say... At least learn to tolerate them. We know that it’s difficult for a lot of supernaturals to be willing to understand humans fear. But there are many humans out there that are understanding of our kind and we shouldn’t forget that.

Also the administration would like to remind students, even if we’re sure you’re all aware, that your two week break will be coming up in the middle of September. This means that your finals will be starting up shortly and we expect all students to study hard and do their best. During break you will need to pick out new classes, emails will be sent out to all students regarding classes over the break.

If anyone needs to make travel arrangements for their break please see to the front office or your guide teacher. With so many students here at the school we do need as much advance notice as possible to see to safe travel.

Tuesday
Tonight is the full moon and we all know what that means. All non werecreatures need to be inside by sundown and there you’ll be staying until after dawn the next day. All werecreatures need to be outside at least fifteen minutes before sundown to prepare for the full moon. Remember that we do this for everyone’s safety at Halcyon and take this situation very seriously. Tonight isn’t the night to test teachers and try to rebel against the rules.

Many commons rooms will be alive with activities tonight. Movie night, book readings, creative drawing, board game night, cooking, video games. Don’t feel like you’re stuck in your room alone all night students. Go explore the school and find something fun to get involved in.

Friday
Art Exhibit at the lux Hotel, hosted by Mr. Venizelos. The exhibit is open to all artists and art lovers. Participation will earn extra credit for his students. Sign up sheets will be located on the outside of his office and classroom doors for the prior days this week. Or if you can see him at his shop Gun Smoke Tattoo. All of the artist at Halcyon are urged to check out this great opportunity to get their work out there and all are welcome to come and enjoy the show.

Today is also Saint Fiacre’s Feast Day: Saint Fiacre is patron saint of gardeners, as well as of cab drivers and hosiers. So today when you take a cab into the city, bring your driver a treat!

Week Advancement: Week Eighteen

Week Eighteen
Dates: Monday July 30th through Sunday August 5th
Season: Summer 2007
Month: Late July into Early August

Announcements:

Monday
Full Moon: Due to the severe weather and heavy fog over the island the entire day, there is a curfew imposed upon all non-were students against leaving the the school at any time during the day. The chances of becoming lost and left vulnerable out of doors after night fall are too high.

Tuesday
Lammas Eve: Most shops in the city will close early today in preparation for tomorrow's festivities. Lammas, a Harvest Festival, is as ancient a festival as you'll find on the island.

Though the curfew will be lifted today, as always with such heavy fog, students are urged to stay indoors so as not to walk right off a cliff... or worse.

Wednesday
Lammas: No Classes today. All students dismissed in honor of Lammas. Most all of the city will be decked out for the occasion. Students are encouraged to visit and support the local farmers and to take part in the celebration of the harvest, however, they are discouraged from attending the Burning Man Festival that always seems to follow, springing up in some clandestine location.

Friday
Friendship Day: Friendship Day celebrations take place on the first Sunday of August every year. The tradition of dedicating a day in honor of friends began in US in 1935. Gradually the festival gained popularity and today Friendship Day is celebrated in large number of countries including India. On this day people spend time with their friends and express love for them. Exchange of Friendship Day Gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands is a popular tradition of this occasion.

The Loft and the Pit, previously Heaven and Hell, will open their doors for the first time under new ownership tonight at 7PM

Much like before, the upstairs club is reserved for the lighter fair, dance music with a hint of bubblegum, for those looking for just a bit of easy going fun.

Downstairs, as always, is darker and moodier. Part has been turned into a strip club, very dark with private booths. Sorry kids... eighteen and up only. We don't want any pissed off guide teachers, or demon parents on our tail.

The main dance floor and bar have not changed much. In fact, we've managed to sweet talk the DJ into staying on. Expect more of that driving beat with the dark, nasty flair.

This Friday opening night, no cover. Half price drinks for all patrons displaying a Halcyon Halls Student ID. Remember, you must be at least sixteen to enter.

Saturday
Today Marks the anniversary of the invention of Champagne, by Dom Perignon in 1693. Many local propreitors will comemorate the day in some special way. Rumor has it The Loft has arranged for an extravagant Champagne Fountain as the day amid with their grand opening extravaganza.

Monday
National Hot Dog Day Bring on the mustard and ketchup! Today is National Hotdog day in the United States. What does that mean here? Not much really, but it can be a nice excuse to get out and have a hot dog. Maybe get a stick and bar-b-que one outside?

Tuesday
Tisha B’Av : Tisha B'Av, the Fast of the Ninth of Av, is a day of mourning to commemorate the many tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people, many of which coincidentally have occurred on the ninth of Av. If you are Jewish and wish to participate in the day of mourning feel free to do so. As always though, be mindful of those that are more sensitive to the holy items that are often attached to religious events.

Friday
National Tree Day: Started in Australia in 1996 it has become the countries largest community tree planting event. So help out the environment and maybe meet a nature nymph or dryad or two who will appreciate your efforts. There will be several tree planting trips in the grounds surrounding the school and the city today. Get out and help!

July is also Hot Dog Month – who doesn’t love a product made up of unidentifiable cow and pig parts. Mmm Mmm!

Announcements:

The administration wishes to stress the importance of safety in harsh weather. Whether it's rain or sun, either can pose a hazard. Delicate races must be careful of the sun especially, and do not forget to wear protection. Those susceptible to damage by either lightning or heavy rains should be careful to stay indoors during such storms. When there are high winds this warning extends to fae and other insubstantial creatures.

As always... Have fun!

Monday
National Ice Cream Day - This might be an American holiday created by President Reagan in 1984, but it's a pretty safe bet that most enjoy the frosty treat... supernaturals included. There should be some discounted ice cream sales around the city and maybe if you're lucky, there will even be some free cold treats around the city in honor of the day.

Thursday
Day of Bad Omens: It falls each year on July 18th, in Rome it was a day of a regular festival. Though centered around the Roman defeat in Allia (390 BC) that led to the sack of Rome by the Gauls it has sense evolved into something more similar to April Fool's Day. As always, there will be a festival in the city. Beware the bad omens!

Friday
Racial Harmony Day: Just what the name implies. A centuries old celebration among brave supernaturals willing to cross those barriers and worked toward peace with the other races. It is because of days like this, and the hard work and sacrifice of many who went before that we now have such unity as we see today in Bacalao and other similar places in the world.

In honor of this special day we encourage all students and staff to take upon themselves the weight of another race. Perhaps team up with another from the opposing house from which you might learn from. Fire demons team up with water elementals, elves befriend the vampires, and so forth. After the last class there is to be a special banquet celebrating our many cultures and our unity.

July is also Tennis month. Why not give the sport a try? We do think you might love it. The school does sport a court or two, and even a few rackets for you novices.

Week Fifteen
Dates: Monday July 9th through Sunday July 14th
Season: Summer 2007
Month: Early July

Announcements:

The last week at Halcyon saw the addition of several new students but also the departure of some beloved staff members. Cassius Florin and Anastasiya Vourdulak have given up their stations and each moved on in other directions. We wish them both the best of luck in their endeavors, whatever they may be. Diarmad Pádraig, while still working for Halcyon, is not doing so at the school. His specific scouting talents have led him back home to Scotland. His niece, Rebecca has joined him. Rozlyn Hecatomb, though she will be remaining with us at Halcyon, has stepped back from her classes to devote herself full time to her family. For those of you who do not know, Rozlyn gave birth to baby girl, Jayden last month, bringing the Hecatomb brood to five. Best wishes to Roz and Axel and also to big brothers, Xael and Aidan.

Selene Wagner has officially stepped in to teach Bloodlust.

The study group sign up sheets will remain on the bulletin board outside the library. We encourage all students to take advantage of the many opportunities for learning presented at Halcyon, and also encourage the more senior students to reach out to those less experienced. Around the Island
Monday
The Running of the Bulls - A celebration as old as the one in Paplona, some say older. This one is typically a lot bloodier than the run done in the human city. We encourage all students not to attempt this but it is fine to watch, from a safe distance and height.

Tuesday
Lady Godiva Day - As expected, this respected lady and her profound act have given the citizens of Bacalao yet one more reason to revel half naked in the streets. Think of it as Mardi Gras without the religion.

Thursday
The Raining of the Frogs - On this date in 1873 it rained frogs in Kansas City, Missouri in the United States. Humans to this day continue attempts to explain the phenomenon through science while the reptilian demon that caused it holds court at Frog Hall on old Sewer Street. On July twelfth of every year Frog Hall throws open it's doors, brining the party into the streets. As on all festival nights, the immediate streets are closed to traffic. Just watch out for those frogs.

Friday
Ghost Festival - Festival for the dead and the living. We'll do this again in October, but this one has more of an Asian flavor.

Saturday
Bastille Day - Bacalao celebrates with flair. Storm the jail and free the prisoners. All of Bacalao's prisoners are pardoned on Bastille Day. But any caught before the sun comes up go back to wait again for next July 14th.
ETA: All criminals eligible are not violent offenders and incarcerated only on "petty" charges.

Week Fourteen

Week Fourteen
Dates: Monday July 1st through Sunday July 7th
Season: Summer 2007
Month: Early July

Announcements:

One week down... many to go. We hope that everyone's first week back to classes went well. Sometimes it can be difficult to get back into the swing of things after a vacation from classes. To help get back into the groove of school the administration would like to help students organize study groups. Outside of the library on the large bulletin board will be several sign up sheets for groups that would like to get together and go over class materials. These will be self managed groups, though if you would care for added help from a teacher feel free to contact a staff member and they will likely help if they are available.

Here at Halcyon, the administration likes to try and recognize major holidays from all countries and all religions. While there are no celebrations put on the school, the opportunity for students to use the school grounds to celebrate is always welcome. With such a large number of students hailing from the United States a group has organized a small magically enhanced fireworks show over the water, this THURSDAY the fourth of July. Students and staff who wish to join in the celebration are more than welcome to gather on the beach, we are told there will be a bar-b-que on the beach before the firework show begins.

A few reminders…
Students under the age of sixteen who have been at halcyon less than one full school year, may not leave campus except with an authorized chaperone. This may be an older student, who is entitled to leave campus alone, but they must be authorized to escort on a case by case basis.

Those qualified to leave the school are encouraged to do so, but please remember that Bacaloa is an island populated with supernaturals. As such it is likely a drastic change from wherever you came from. There is a small village a few miles from Halcyon, a decent walk if you're inclined or you may take advantage of the taxi cabs, with Halcyon picking up the tab. There you can find shops of all kinds, bars, a movie theater, a hotel, and even a small mall. Perhaps most interesting however, is the Imaginarium, a game emporium of sorts.

Remember the curfew for students under eighteen is 10 PM on weekdays and midnight on Friday and Saturday. No such limits for those over eighteen. Students are not to hang out in other houses. This is for your safety. Also, male and female should keep to their own floors. Again, doing so is in keeping with propriety and the safety and well being of all students.

The librarian is seeking assistance in the form of one or two students with good records over the age of twenty one. Please report to the library if you are interested.

Announcements:

Back to School! We hope you had an enjoyable vacation.

The administration extends a warm welcome to all returning students and staff as well as all to newcomers. Veteran students please show courtesy to those you know to be new on campus. And to those recent arrivals, if you have not already done so please report to the office for information regarding rooming, class schedule, and your assigned guide teacher.

Please be advised schedules have changed quite drastically from the last term. It is up to you to determine that your own schedule is correct. As always we do not seek perfection from our students in the form of GPA’s, what we do ask for is participation and a sincere desire to learn. Our teachers, all more than qualified, are here, not for the pay, which many will tell you is lousy, but as a service to the young people of supernatural society. They wish to see you succeed in whichever path your life may take you. It is up to you to take full advantage of the opportunities these halls and our venerable staff, provide.

A few reminders…
Students under the age of sixteen who have been at halcyon less than one full school year, may not leave campus except with an authorized chaperone. This may be an older student, who is entitled to leave campus alone, but they must be authorized to escort on a case by case basis.

NOTE to Werecreatures: Do NOT attempt to shift outside the school grounds. There are many farmers and ranchers in the area who will not hesitate to take whatever means necessary to protect their livlihood.

Announcements:
Spring break continues. The administration urges those who remained on the island to enjoy their break. Many local businesses are offering specials with the Halcyon students in mind. Be sure to support our locals just as they support the school.

The mall will be having a 30% off sale on all summer items. Go with some friends and take advantage of the great deals! The movie theater is also catering to students on break by having a half off all ticket sales for movies anytime between 3pm and 7pm. Now is the time to get out and see those movies you’ve been waiting to see.

This weekend is the time to hit up Imaginarium. A laser tag competition will be hosted Saturday and a mini golf tournament on Sunday. Make sure to sign up early to guarantee yourself a spot in these fun activities. Winners will get gift cards for various stores around the city.

At Halcyon, the common rooms are fully stocked with movies and games. In addition if you ever had the urge to take up some of the sporting equipment that is available please feel free to check some out and enjoy it. Any other needs or requests should go through the main office.

This week teachers will be helping to set up teams for some baseball, football, and soccer games. All games will be friendly and all about fun; the school is looking for all students to have a good time and not feel pressured by wins or loses.

Some Games Club students will also be looking to have some fun game battles this week. Wednesday they will be taking over the large commons room near the cafeteria to host various board game and video game competitions. Show up and have some fun with other Halcyon students.

If you have not yet sent in your new schedule, now is the time. Schedules are due by Wednesday of this week. Any late submissions run the risk of missing out on their favorite class.

((OOC: Mod post with changed class schedule is located here. Everyone should already have submitted their schedules, if you have not, please do so ASAP. Thanks!))

The administration hopes that you enjoy the rest of your break!

Announcements:
Well it's that time of year! School break time. The school hopes that everyone was able to spent the time they needed studying rather than just preparing for this upcoming break. That said, now is the time for everyone to relax and enjoy the time off from the daily routine of classes and homework. In addition the administration hopes that all students made the arrangements needed for travel off the island. This should serve as a reminder that students will be unable to travel off island if they have not.

Any student that is leaving Halcyon needs to keep their training heavily in mind. Thankfully there will be no full moon over this break but that does not mean that emotions, and powers, can not get out of hand. The administration wants all its students to be safe while away from Halcyon. Also many areas around the world have scouts or contacts of Halcyons in them. If you’d like to know of scouts you can contact in the area you will be traveling to, please ask the main office or your guide.

All talk of travel aside, there are still plenty of things to do around the school and city. Shops and restaurants will be offering a whole bevy of specials and sales. Be sure to take advantage of those offerings if you are still at the school. Inside the school, the common rooms are fully stocked with movies that are available for watching. In addition if you ever had the urge to take up some of the sporting equipment that is available please feel free to check some out and enjoy it.

On Monday June 10th a class list will be mailed out to all students here at Halcyon. Please, even if you are away from the school, be certain to check your emails. The administration will be trying out something new this quarter so make sure to really look at the list. Class structures here at Halcyon have changed many times over the years. Now is just another time.

Students will be required to send in their new schedules to the administration by Wednesday of the second week of break. This gives the administration time to set up the classes and get everything prepared before school starts up again that following Monday.

((OOC: Mod post with changed class schedule is located here. We will email a link to that post to everyone that has not responded with their characters new schedule by the next week change. Teachers also need to comment with what classes they’d like to teach.))

The administration hopes that you enjoy your two week break!

With a school break starting at the end of this week (the 10th) the administration expects that many students will be planning trips home or simply off the island for the time. If you are seeking to leave for the time be certain that you contact the main office and make arrangements. Many students will be traveling and if you have not made an appointment with the main office for means off the island you will not be able to go. We have many students we have to see to and won’t always have extra room to squeeze in those that decided they didn’t need to plan everything out.

Any student that is leaving Halcyon needs to keep their training heavily in mind. Thankfully there will be no full moon over this break but that does not mean that emotions, and powers, can not get out of hand. If you feel that you do not have a good handle on your abilities then perhaps rethink your desire to leave for this break and plan something for the next break instead. The administration wants all its students to be safe while away from Halcyon. Also many areas around the world have scouts or contacts of Halcyons in them. If you’d like to know of scouts you can contact in the area you will be traveling to, please ask the main office or your guide.

The office hours are from 8am to 9pm everyday. You can speak to anyone there about transportation needs or any other requirements you will need for over the break time period. Students staying at Halcyon can also contact their guides, should they be staying at the school, for any needs they might have over break.

On Monday June 10th a class list will be mailed out to all students here at Halcyon. Please, even if you are away from the school, be certain to check your emails. Just because break is nearing doesn’t mean schools out yet. Finals and evaluations will be done this week students. Keep your studies up and be prepared. Attendance is very important in the following weeks so any missing classes without reason will be spoken to and are not allowed without excuse from a guide teacher. Study groups are starting to form all through out the week. If you’re struggling with any particular class it may be a good idea to look into a group and see if you can get some extra help.

Good luck students on your finals and the administration hopes that you enjoy your two week break!

Thankfully last week the full moon came and passed without any major mishaps. That is except for the rather large mess made by a particular were that refused to be clean up outside and decided to go running around the main school. The muddy mess was cleaned up rather quickly but the administration does hope that this won’t be a reoccurring theme. Means to clean up are available outdoors for the weres for a reason.

The administration, however, would like to remind students that trying to find ways to sneak out on the full moon is not only against the rules but it is incredibly dangerous. Though the weres are watched accidents can happen and some here at the school can still be turned by a weres bite. We know no one likes being told they have to stay indoors but please think of your safety above and beyond that want to go outside.

With a school break starting on the 10th, quickly approaching the administration expects that many students will be planning trips home or simply off the island for the time. If you are seeking to leave for the time be certain that you contact the main office and make arrangements. Season: Spring 2007
Month: Mid to Late May

Announcements:
The school hopes that everyone enjoyed the sporting activities that were in full swing this past weekend. Sports were definitely the theme of the weekend and it wasn’t just for the hard core sports enthusiasts! The school would like to remind some of the younger students though that the water balloons that mysteriously disappeared from supplies had better not turn up in the halls or on anyone else. In addition several articles of clothing were left behind on the fields, including baseball caps, t-shirts and a pair of track pants. This has been added to the lost and found collection from the Spring Fling. Should you be missing anything please head to the main office where all of said items are being kept. If no one claims them by the end of the week they will be donated down in the city.

The nice weather seems to be holding up for the majority of the week. If you plan to go outdoors take the heat into consideration. Sun block and water are important, even supernaturals can get dehydrated. The school would also like to remind any playing sports outdoors to be careful on just how close to the school you are. Broken windows are bad enough but given how many of our students here are rather light intolerable, it can be very dangerous.

Friday is the full moon this month. Werecreatures will have Friday off from classes, the school advises that werecreatures use the weekend to recuperate because once Monday rolls around everyone is expected to return to class. Remember students that this means Friday night all are to stay indoors from just before sundown till after dawn. Werecreatures please meet out-front of the school just before sundown to be paired up with other werecreatures of similar kind and teachers.

For those students staying indoors on Friday night each house common room will be hosting a movie night. Movie watching snacks will be provided so head on into the common room if you want to get your movie watching on while the werecreatures get their.. well were on! Be there just after sundown and stay as long as you like!

Dance club is asking current members and interested parties to join them to prepare for their bi-annual Season of Dance show that will be held at the end of the month. This spring, they will put on three performances showcasing the hard work of student choreographers, dancers, lighting crew, and costumers. Season of Dance is intended for anyone willing to lend a hand, no matter how much or how little they can give. Join now and be a part of an artistic experience that goes back centuries! The dance show will be held on Friday May 31st and will be showcased in the main assembly hall. Attendance of this show is not mandatory and will be held after classes but administration does encourage students to go and show their support of this art form! Make sure to get in with these groups now and have some fun learning something new and putting on a show.

Well talk about getting to play at the beach inside last week! The students that attended the Spring Fling got a sandy festivity set up for them! The beach theme matched well with the activities that had gone on in hell the day previous and seemed to be quite the hit! That is besides with those having to do the clean up. Don’t even ask how long that took! But it was well worth it to put on an event for you students to enjoy.

It looks like more then a few students got a bit forgetful that night however. Three pairs of shoes, a jacket, a t-shirt and two baseball caps were found scattered about the various rooms after clean up was completed. Should you be missing anything please head to the main office where all of said items are being kept. If no one claims them within two weeks they will be donated down in the city.

The weekend ended with some warm weather and from the sounds of it that weather will keep up for this entire week.

This weekend, however, all you sports fans can expect some fun. Various activities are going to be set up for all students to participate in. Baseball, football, obstacle courses, water balloons and much much more. Consider it an all day track and field sort of event but one that is all about fun and not any gold metal prizes. When the school says all day it does mean it. The events will start at noon on Saturday and go till midnight. Everyone has chance to come out and have some fun.

This week is also a week to say goodbye to some well loved staff members here at halcyon as well as a few students. The spring weather has brought about some wanderlust in these folks and it appears travel is in their future. We thank both Vale Razvan and Janos Bartol for all their hard work and wish them, and the students, a good trip!

Never fear to those in Vale’s classes, a great teacher will be handling those classes starting this Wednesday when he leaves. Also Vale would like to assure all those that work at Heaven and Hell or have interest in hosting events there that his second in charge “S” is more then capable of handling everything. Should anyone have questions they can email him directly at the club or call. For all students that had them as a guide please check your school emails as the administration will be contacting you to let you know who your new guide will be.

Week Advancement: Week Six

Week Six
Dates: Monday May 6th through Sunday May 12th
Season: Spring 2007
Month: Early - Mid May

Announcements:
As should be expected with the coming of summer, the weather continues its upswing and it seems that most are enjoying it. However the school would like to remind students that some of you do have curfews. While the administration wants students to enjoy this new warm weather they don’t want everyone to push off studies for it. Many are holding study groups out doors or escaping out to the gardens for some study time between classes. Also please remember to be careful when straying into the forests or down to the beach. While there are often guard patrols in the air the further out areas are hard to keep an eye on. Make sure if you venture off to go in pairs and take cell phones with you just in case. It’s easier to get lost around this island then most might guess!

Did you think those sales in the city were over? No they have just begun! The mall is having a half price sale on all swim wear this week and you better believe that there are still tons of discounted winter clothing available out there, talk about a steal! Make your way down there and pick some extra items while seeking out that perfect dress for the dance. The school would like to remind those without funds that the school does provide money for clothing and supplies for school, should anyone need anything at all please simply go to the main office or let a guide know. The school wants all its students to be ready for the weather and have everything they need for their classes.

Also, to help with the dance, various stores in the city will be allowing students to rent out spring dresses or items for a night to be returned the next day in the same, good, condition. Various hair saloons will be doing work for a very discounted price or for free for those that do not have extra funds. The administration extends a great thanks to these donations and hopes that students appreciate what so many stores in the city are willing to do.

Class superlatives will be announced this Wednesday. Postings of who won what will be placed all around the school and there will be a gathering in the main assembly hall for any wanting to receive there accomplished certificates that display their titles boldly for all to see.

Also it looks like Heaven is the place to be this Friday. By the flyers you’ve no doubt seen around the halls there is a charity auction being held! Money is being raised to help keep our beaches safe and clean for the wildlife that heavily inhabits these shores. Go and support a good cause. The auction starts at 8pm but both Heaven and Hell will be open long before then for any that want to show early.

The much anticipated spring fling is this Saturday Night, starting at 7pm, in the main hall along with the cafeteria and even a few commons rooms! This dance is for all students and staff but please remember that there are young students here, how about not trying to spike the punch this time around students? Yes expect there to be guards watching to ensure that nothing gets out of hand and that everyone is kept safe and able to have a good time. No one likes having to have them around during these times but the administration wants to make sure everyone is able to have a safe event! Remember that this is a spring event, no formal attire is required.

Also don’t forget that Dance Club Announces a new Season of Dance! Dance club is asking current members and interested parties to join them to prepare for their bi-annual Season of Dance show that will be held towards the end of this month This spring, they will put on three performances showcasing the hard work of student choreographers, dancers, lighting crew, and costumers. Week Five
Dates: Monday April 29th through Sunday May 5th
Season: Spring 2007
Month: Early May

Announcements:
The arrival of May this week ushers in the arrival of various celebrations of the changing of the seasons. Traditional celebrations of May Day, Beltane, Walpurgis Night, or one of many other names given to the ancient celebration of the end of the winter months will take place this Wednesday outside the school. Feel free to join in the maypole and crowning of the may queen celebration located in the north clearing, outside of the school on Wednesday night.

As should be expected with the coming of summer, the weather continues its upswing and it seems that most are enjoying it. However the school would like to remind students that some of you do have curfews. While the administration wants students to enjoy this new warm weather they don’t want everyone to push off studies for it! Think about study groups held outdoors to incorporate both activities into one. Also please remember to be careful when straying into the forests or down to the beach. While there are often guard patrols in the air the further out areas are hard to keep an eye on. Make sure if you venture off to go in pairs and take cell phones with you just in case. It’s easier to get lost around here then some students realize!

The opportunities still abound in the city. Stores have taken the change in seasons and are having various sales all week long on the newest arrivals of warm weather clothes. Take advantage of this time to stock up on some new items and maybe pick up on some heavily discounted winter apparel. The school would like to remind those without funds that the school does provide money for clothing and supplies for school, should anyone need anything at all please simply go to the main office or let a guide know. The school wants all its students to be ready for the weather and have everything they need for their classes.

In addition the school would like to remind students, that gargoyles while can be stone in appearance are nothing to be defaced or drawn upon in any way. Culprits of any sort of hazing, taunting, vandalism or physical violence should expect punishment by their guide teachers.

Finally, don’t forget the Spring Fling NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT, starting at 7pm, in the main hall. Make your date plans now! Anyone wishing to help the planning committee come up with decoration ideas please come by the main hall on this Saturday at 10am. In addition to the dance the annual class superlatives will be announced as well that week. So keep your eyes and ears peeled to see what you might have earned, remember voting ends at the end of this week!

Week Four: April 22nd through April 28th

Week Four
Dates: Monday April 22nd through Sunday April 28th
Season: Spring 2007
Month: Late April

Announcements:
The warming weather has sent many students out of Halcyon Halls to enjoy the various gardens and the city the island has.

The city has definitely been quick to embrace this warming weather trend. Restaurants are still using their outdoor seating areas and many are having spring themed days and nights all week long where discounts are given to in season foods.

Stores have taken on this theme as well and are having various sales all week long on the newest arrivals of warm weather clothes.

Don’t forget the Spring Fling in May along with the annual Class Superlatives! The committee will be accepting nominations starting Monday. Know someone you think should be named the best of the best (or worst of the worst)? Nominate them! ((ooc: Please go to this mod post to vote!))

The rain on Tuesday caught a few classes that hosted some time outdoors off guard. Clear weather quickly turned stormy and sent teacher and students rushing inside to try to avoid the rainfall. Talk about a mess for the janitors to clean up after all those boots tracked in water and mud.

Thursday is the full moon this month. Werecreatures will have Thursday off from classes and possibly Friday for early classes should they need it. Remember students that this means Thursday night all are to stay indoors from just before sundown till after dawn. Werecreatures please meet out-front of the school just before sundown to be paired up with other werecreatures of similar kind and teachers.

Keeping with its weekend trends lately Club Heaven and Hell will be hosting more live bands this weekend. The spring weather has apparently brought out many new groups and Vale Razvan enjoys giving them a place to show the island their sound. Both Heaven and Hell will have open stages for these bands starting at 7pm on Friday and Saturday.

Also don’t forget that Dance Club Announces a new Season of Dance! Dance club is asking current members and interested parties to join them to prepare for their bi-annual Season of Dance show. This spring, they will put on three performances showcasing the hard work of student choreographers, dancers, lighting crew, and costumers. Week Three: April 15th through April 21st

Week Three
Dates: Monday April 15th through Sunday April 21st
Season: Spring 2007
Month: Mid April

Announcements:

The cold weather has definitely started to lighten up, expect warm temperatures all week with only a scattering of rain and only a few days of any real heavy breezes. Take advantage of the warming weather and study outside! Monday the gardens will be set up with various tables, some covered and some not, to make for a relaxing and comfortable study environment for students. The set up and refreshments will be kept late into the night for all students until the late night rain finally convinces staff of the school to break the set up down.

As the nice weather continues however this set up will become a commonly found commodity. If you’re curious if it will be set up on a certain day or not just ask your guide teacher.

Last Tuesday Selene Wagner hosted a women’s gathering in the energies and emotions classroom. The gathering went well and anyone that attended, or even those that didn't, that have questions or concerns please feel free to contact Selene, your guide, or any of the other counselors the school has to offer; Cassius and Dove. All teachers are available all week and can be contacted via journals or emails for appointments.

To celebrate the warming weather many restaurants in the city are opening up their outdoor patios and offering discounts on lunch and dinner items that celebrate the spring theme. These discounts start up Wednesday when the weather gets above 80 degrees.

The wind on Thursday was a little stronger then some students believed it would be! A group got together after sundown to do some studying for their classes. The designated spot was near the gardens under one of the near by trees. However do the rain lately this tree was not on its best footing anymore and the strong wind sent it toppling over. Thankfully no students were heavily injured and the guards on patrol were quickly able to make sure everyone was safe.

Heaven and Hell apparently is seeking to attract more and more patrons this weekend. Admittance, as always, is free and for the weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, all items available for purchase within the club are half off. Drinks, food, clothing, club decorations (glitter, glow sticks), etc. The administration knows many students take advantage of having the club on the island but would like to urge everyone to be careful and know your limits. Also make use of the free cabs that run from the school to the city to ensure you make it back to the school safe and sound.

Also don’t forget that Dance Club Announces a new Season of Dance! Dance club is asking current members and interested parties to join them to prepare for their bi-annual Season of Dance show. Week Two: April 8th through April 14th

Week Two
Dates: Monday April 8th through Sunday April 14th
Season: Spring 2007
Month: Early-mid April

Announcements:

After a weekend of play, the big news this week is the increasingly warmer weather just as we get into the third week of the spring quarter. The weekends festivities went off without a hitch, however, it seems. Despite the heavy club influence this weekend there were very few reports of curfews broken or arguments getting out of hand around the school. The administration would like to thank everyone for being responsible and using the cabs provided rather then attempting to make it into, and from, the city on their own.

Considering the heavy rain that will continue on into Monday keep those cabs in mind. All drivers are well trained in how to deal with the islands very varied weather conditions. Also be sure to try to dry off before coming inside. We don’t need any water puddles all around the main hall for students to slip on.

The rain will turn to a dismal blanket of fog that will cover the entire island leaving many to wonder and worry if this wasn’t a scene from a horror movie on Tuesday. So it is urged that if you do go out to bring someone along with you, the administration would like to keep the need for search parties down to a minimum.

To bring in the middle of the weak the school cooks will be holding a huge dinner feast on Wednesday. The reason? Well who needs a reason to have a grand dinner filled with special treats and undeniable goodies? Make sure to show just an hour after last classes to make sure that you get some of the food! The administration has no doubt that it will all go quickly.

And however thought that it would be a good idea to steal some food from that Wednesday feast and feed it to the Magical Creature animals on Thursday…well let’s just say it wasn’t a good idea at all. Some of those animals have very particular diets. The administration suggest staying away from that area for awhile while the creatures work that food out of their systems.

Ah the weekend, Friday happens to mark the start of some big sales down in the city. These sales will go on through the weekend and actually continue onwards until Wednesday of next week. Also the local mall in the city is looking for some workers. With the weather warming up spring sales will be more common and extra hands will be needed.

Saturday and Sunday will be mild, lazy days.

Wednesday April 10th: Calm with clear skies. (High: 61°F Low: 31°F)
Thursday April 11th: Clouds roll in over night. Overcast with scattered rains. (High: 67°F Low: 52°F)

Week One: April 1st through April 7th

Week One
Dates: Monday April 1st through Sunday April 7th
Season: Spring 2007
Month: Early April

Announcements:
Spring fever this week has sent many students rushing outside. The administration of course loves for students to enjoy the warming weather but please remember when rushing back indoors to make sure to wipe your feet and not drag that still apparent mud outdoors right inside. No one wants to slip and fall on those kinds of messes and they are easily avoided.

The school would like to remind students of Selene Wagner’s classes and Cassius Florin’s that classes will be canceled on Monday however that does not mean that homework assigned over the weekend can be slacked off on. The teachers expect all due papers to be dropped off at their offices by 10pm tonight. Werecreatures have had the entire weekend to recover from their recent full moon shift, as well, so all are expected to be in classes on Monday morning.

The administration is well aware some students are going to take full advantage of the pranks and gags so often associated with April Fools day on Monday. All that is asked is to make sure to be safe, don’t cause harm, and be aware that huge messes and destruction might be amusing for you but it’s not for the school. Guards will be keeping an eye out to make sure no tricks go too far.

Due to a bit of a scramble Tuesday afternoon the Librarians of Halcyon Halls is also looking for some help reorganizing some books. More then a few bookshelves were knocked over in the process and the library Tuesday and Wednesday looks to be quite a mess. The work is fairly easy but it is rather time consuming. Any and all help with it is, however, appreciated.

The flood damage due to various storms and harsh weather conditions should be cleaned up completely by Thursday afternoon workers from the city state. However they are offering up pay to any students willing to come down and help with the clean up and repairs needed. If you are interested please simply go to any locations in the city with signs on their windows stating students welcome for work. It’s a great way to earn some extra pocket cash for the spring and helps another out greatly in the process!

This Saturday and Sunday Heaven and Hell will be hosting live concerts from local bands here on the island. Expect the club to be packed and if you want a good seat or stance for the shows make sure to get their early.

With the spring quarter some new arrivals have found their way to Halcyon. The administration would like to give a fond greeting and hope that everyone, so far, as enjoyed their stay. Please remember that if you have any questions or complaints to please see to your guide teacher or the main office located near to the main entrance of the school. No matter the question its better to ask and know then to not and simply guess.
