Week Twenty: Saturday

When: 8 o'clock
Where: Outside the Zephir House and then...
Who: Max and Cassandra

To say that Max had been worried over the past couple of weeks would have been an understatement. The idea that this "Jack" had taken advantage of Cassandra had his blood boiling and his dark eyes seeing red. Truth be told, the other man was lucky that he didn't just "disappear" one night. It could have been easy, one phone call to a few of his fathers friends and a snatch and grab once the bastard was away from the school. However that really wasn't Max's style and he wouldn't piss on the hospitality the school had shown in him that way. No, he would wait for now and seize the opportunity when it decided to arise.

Fortunately he now how a more positive event to focus on and that was his upcoming date with one rather stunning dark haired woman. Cassandra deserved to have a nice night out without worry of her past creeping up behind her. No, he was going to see to it that she was spoiled and treated how she deserved to be treated. She might have been a more low key girl who enjoyed simpler things but that didn't necessarily mean she wouldn't enjoy being treated like royalty for an evening. Besides, if she had any desire to spend truly date him then she would have to get used to being spoiled.

After seeing that his arrangements for dinner were still in effect, Max spent some time getting dressed and actually doing his hair. Maybe that was a bit of an overstatement but there had been gel involved while standing in front of an actual mirror so that had to count as putting some effort forth. As far as clothing went, Max decided on a suit of sorts that was more of a lazy rock star look than anything. He even went as far as putting on his newer pair of Chucks rather than the ones that were on the verge of falling apart so clearly he had been trying to look nice.

A few minutes to eight, Max slipped a small box into his pocket and headed out of his room and over to the Zephir House where he had told Cassandra to meet him. Lingering outside of the door leading into the common room, he glanced at his watch before shoving his hands into the pockets of his slacks. He still had a minute or two so now all he had to do was wait.

Week Seventeen: Thursday, July 26th

Who: Frankie and Max
When: Thursday evening
Where: front lawn outside school
What: flying!

Walking Tesla and Hugo was proving to be one hell of a job. No one could say that Frankie wasn't earning the money Wes gave her. The dogs were slightly bonkers, and had her running all over the place every time she took them walking. But, she managed to keep up with them, and they enjoyed her company it seemed. She'd never been licked so much in her life! Ha!

After the hour together had passed, Frankie returned the beasts to their owner and went back to her dorm to clean up. Tonight wasn't a date, at least she didn't think it was. She would have liked for it to be, but Max didn't seem all that interested in her. Sucked big time. She didn't know what she was doing wrong with men. Did all girls go through this when they first started dating? And did it get easier with time?

She hated her lack of experience and knowledge of this world. She'd been such an outsider for so long, and then was thrust into the normal young adult world without a clue how to navigate it. What was the right way to flirt? How did you go about telling a guy you like him? Who made good boyfriend material? All things she didn't know, and she wasn't sure who to ask. Perhaps everyone just stumbled along, made a lot of mistakes, and eventually figured it out.

Perhaps she should just stop thinking so much about it, and enjoy life. Yeah. Good plan.

She showered (steaming hot as always), dressed in some track pants and a tank top with a low cut back to allow her wings freedom, then grabbed her phone and keys. She snagged a sweat shirt that had holes cut in the back as well, something we wear if she got cold, which was often. All ready, she headed out to the front lawn to meet Max, hopeful she'd at least make a new friend and maybe improve upon her flying.

Week Fifteen: Friday

Who: Max and Cassandra
When: Around 10PM
Where: The kitchens

Deciding to be contrary, Max chose to stay in and catch up on some reading rather than venturing out into the city. Normally Friday nights would find him seeking out some sort of music venue but there was still plenty of time for that. Tomorrow night perhaps. So tonight was focused around the stack of books that sat on his desk rather than seeking out this club a few had mentioned in reply to his journal entry. The thought of some place called Heaven and Hell didn't exactly spark any burning desire to go visit. He had a guess about what kind of people were probably there and he had never been one for crowds. Eventually he might get around to it, but he wouldn't hold his breath.

The hours seemed to slip by fast enough as he absorbed chapter after chapter. Max had always been a quick study when he put some focus into it and so he hadn't been worried about showing up after the term had already begun. Though, there was only so much reading he could do before he needed a break. He was good, but not that good.

Pushing away from his desk, he stretched out the stiff muscles in his back and arms before a low growl from his stomach caused him to chuckle. Guess it was that time again. Slipping on a pair of Chucks, he made his way down to the kitchens in search of some form of sustenance. What he really wanted were a couple of greasytacos from the Mexican place down the street from his old dorm but that was a bit out of the way.

When he arrived, he noticed a rather attractive brunette working on...something. Whatever it was, it earned another rumble from his stomach. "Smells delicious," he said as he stepped around the counter. "You up to sharing?" His mouth quirked into a sort of grin as he held out his hand. "Cassandra right? I'm Max." He definitely remembered her from the one class that they shared. If only he had known that she could make food that smelled like that, he would have been sure to introduce himself sooner.

Week Fifteen: Thursday

Who: Max, and Vivian
When: Thursday Night
Where: On the school grounds
What: Flying in the fog, it would seem.

Flirting. It was a past time that she enjoyed. One which more often than not, found her in a spot of trouble. One, which she had taken up around the age of seventeen, when she discovered that boys existed, and tended to act rather oddly around her. Vivian could thank her time spent in an all female primary school, for keeping her sheltered up to that point. It may have been this first impression of men, that her entire opinion was formed upon. That they were indeed, odd creatures. Of course, it wasn't true of all of them. Only the majority. But really, what did that say about women? They knew this of men, and yet still flocked to them. Vivian recalled having previously heard a saying, which she now knew to be true... Men were stupid, and women were crazy. Now that she found herself playing both sides of the field, she could appreciate such a logic. Women were beautiful, and appealing on so many different levels, but the crazy was something she could not handle in large doses. How men did it, was beyond her.

The never ending battle of the sexes aside, it seemed this night was going to be an interesting one, if anything. The vampire had woken an hour, or so before, after her nap that each day, ate the remained of daylight. Her sleeping habits were strange, and it was more likely, than not, that she did not sleep as much as she should. The simple truth was, however, that when the moon was high, she was drawn to be active. Studies had been done on mortals, testing their physiological connection to the sun... the testing of a theory. It was proven that they did indeed rest better, when sleeping at night, rather than during the day, and those who's schedules were reversed, due to work, or something of that nature, were not as well rested. Even if the same amount of sleep was held. Vivian was convinced that vampires were the same, only in the opposite standards. Vivian hadn't had a real adjusting time, when she was first changed. The black painted windows, thick with fabric, in the room where her sire had kept her, hid the time of day. So, she had had slipped into a sleeping pattern, that her body chose. Now, she was having to live by the clock once more.

Unless going out to the club, she kept her appearance simple. Minimal makeup, practical clothing, her hair usually allowed to fall as it wished. Besides, this might very well turn into a fly in the rain, so being completely dolled up wasn't exactly smart. Flying, it was strange to think about. Outside of a plane, or para-sailing, she had never been flying. There may have even been a moments hesitation, when the demon had invited her. For one, she didn't know him, at all. He could very well carry her up into the heavens, and see fit to splatter her to the ground. High enough, she was sure not even a vampire could survive a fall like that. But, that was half of the appeal, the risk of not knowing what could happen. Unlike most people, Vivian was prepared to take the blame for her own misjudgement, if it came to that. Yet, Max had seemed friendly enough on the net, new to school, and obviously wishing to meet new people. If things became ugly, she could always bite him.

After a shower, a blow dry, and change of clothes, she made her way down to the entrance of Halcyon. The sun had been down for a while now, so there was no reason to hesitate, and hang back longingly within the walls. As if meeting a stranger in the dark wasn't risky enough, the setting made it completely laughable. And she did in fact laugh, it was almost poetic. Shaking her head, she stepped out into the thick fog, the pointed toe boots she wore, sinking into the damp earth, as she walked. It was beautiful... there were never nights like this back home, so, she decided to enjoy it. If it rained, so be it, it was only water. So long has it hadn't been blessed, it wouldn't do them any harm. It would be impossible to see anyone approaching, so, she decided to rely on her ears to alter her to anyone, or anything approaching, as she waited for the shadow demon to join her.
