Week 19: Friday

Who:  Ana and Ava
What:  Siblings of doom!
When:  Evening
Where:  The Blue Martini

Well, it really had been a busy couple of weeks, what with classes and all.  Ana was actually a decent enough student when it came down to it - that's why she packed a light load of classes.  That made it easier to stay on top of the workload and still have fun.  She was not going for most incredible student, but decent success would be nice.  She was going to be a vampire for the rest of her unlife.  She'd better get used to being one and living in the supernatural world.  Her first day of classes and meeting Xander (as Ava) had taught her well enough that this really was a new world - not just an improved version of being human.  It was odd to think that, really, normal human laws no longer applied to her.

She had been rather busy with wandering about and getting acclimated to the school - meandering was her version of nesting.  Cleopatra had kept her company, but really, the scaly critter had nothing on human, or human-like, company.  Ava had seemed equally occupied as the two had only seen each other in passing, really.  Of course, that wasn't counting the half awake late night conversations across the room they had.  Once or twice Ana may even have climbed into her sister's bed, just to be near her.  They had often done that as children, and even now and then in New York, when they weren't out doing naughty things like flying high or being a juicebox.  Speaking of juiceboxes...  Hadn't Ava mentioned finding one for them?  Hmmm...

After the sun set, Ana took a cab down to the Blue Martini, a high class martini bar she had heard about.  Ava was off somewhere, and they would meet there.  Arriving first, she caught a table in a shadowy part of the bar so they could talk privately.  Of course, if they were really concerned about that, they could just speak in their own private language.  Wearing a royal blue halter dress that brought out her eyes, Ana watched the entrance for her sister.

Week 19 - Wednesday

Who: Ava and Caibre
When: Wednesday Night
Where: Isle of Bacalao Hotel
What: Snack time!

Ava smoothed down the collar of her Prada coat as she walked up to the hotel doors, glancing back as the cab that had brought her drove away. She'd been diligently attending classes, but her little indulgence had made her crave. Fresh blood beside the bagged blood...it was no question. She didn't have the self control to be able to keep herself from fresh blood when it was readily available, well, readily available meaning she had to call and make arrangements to get the fresh blood from a somewhat unwilling host.

Maybe she'd bitten off more than she could chew. Ava was certain, though, that she could handle a challenge. She brushed her hands down her coat and walked into the hotel, the doorman smiling politely at her as she returned the gesture. Her long hair was blond today, a method she liked to use when she was trying to be somewhat incognito, and she walked to the front desk, checking in and getting the key. The room was already paid for, so she didn't worry about that, and she took the elevator to the room in short order.

She was nervy. She wasn't even sure that he would show. After their encounter last weekend, she wasn't sure how he felt about being the blood bank for a wealthy pair of heiresses. She knew that Ana had to make her own arrangements, but still. She knew that she hadn't minded being a blood doll, but then, she also knew that she herself was pretty messed up. Finding her door, she slipped the key in and stepped into the sterile room, glancing around at the contents with mild interest.

It was a nice room, she'd made sure of that, but she didn't really care. Stripping off her coat, she tossed it onto a chair and then sighed. Walking to the door, she opened it to let in the fresh night air, stepping onto the balcony to survey the courtyard. Alright, she had to give the owners a little credit. It was a fairly nice hotel.

She waited, letting her hands rest on the balcony as she squeezed the iron gently. She hoped that she could control herself. Her professor in Bloodlust class (when she'd been able to pay attention in class, due to the fact that the man was ridiculously beautiful) had made it fairly clear that it was dangerous for young vampires like her, and most of the previous times she'd fed, she'd been in public or Saul had been there to stop her.

This time, she'd have to make sure that she was still careful. Hearing movement, she glanced over her shoulder and looked into the room.

Week 18 - Thursday

Who: Ava and Open
Where: The Music Room
When: Thursday Late Afternoon
What: Practice makes perfect...

For once in her life, Ava hadn't managed to insert herself into the nightlife of her new home. New York had been easy, almost too easy in the long run, and Gilford hadn't had much of a nightlife compared to the larger places. So right now, instead of going out, she was inside of the music room, getting ready to practice the one thing that calmed her and set her restless spirit at ease.

Choosing an aria from Thaïs, one of her favorite operas, she cleared her throat and began to sing. Her voice wasn't nearly as clear as it had been ten years ago, but still it carried, the soft and sweet dulcet tones weaving the tale of the courtesan from Alexandria being wooed away by the Cenobite monk Athanaël. The tale was a favorite of hers because in the ending the monk realized that his goal of saving the courtesan from her life of sin had merely led him to realize that his love for her was one that would never be realized when he had saved her.

Letting the notes carry clear and strong, she moved from one aria to another from the same opera. It was easy to sing when you no longer needed to breathe to survive and lifting the notes higher was a glory. The sound echoed in the empty room and she finished, pleased with the way the aria had ended. Her face was flushed from the exertion, despite her pallor, and she clapped her hands once in pleasure.

Now if only fitting into Halcyon Halls would prove to be so easy a challenge surmounted. Sighing, she cleared her throat, preparing to start another aria. She would clear out should anyone need the room, but for now she was simply enjoying being able to sing freely again.

Week 17 -- Saturday

Who: Ava and Ana
What: Pet shopping!
Where: In town, at the pet store
When: Saturday night

Once she had settled in, Ava was ready to hit the town. She'd been sitting in her room all day, the sunlight blocking her from being able to leave, and she'd spent most of that surfing the internet with Ana and talking to the various people who had introduced themselves on her journal. So far, the vampires seemed friendly enough, which was enough to fill Ava with glee.

Ava and Ana had promised one another that as soon as they arrived at the school they were finally going to buy the pets they had been wanting for so very long. Ava couldn't remember whose suggestion the pet had been, but it had been a fantastic one. The only problem she could think of was the one of where they were going to keep the food for them. There wasn't exactly a good place to keep rats in their dorm room. Ava didn't like rats, so she didn't feel particularly bad about feeding them to her snake.

They'd called the cab and Ava stepped out of their room, decked out in a bright green halter dress with her dark hair piled high atop her head and a pair of designer chic sunglasses that were nearly too large for her face. She'd broken out her new necklace, a parting gift from her Sire, slipped on her Louboutins, and realized that she was likely wearing brands that people here may never have even heard of, except for her sister of course. If they did know of them, then Ava simply had to meet them. She and Ana needed shopping buddies - not that they minded going out together at all, it would just be fun to have a group like they used to have back on Fifth Avenue.

Making her way down the stairs, she saw the cab and then slipped her arm in her sister's. "Shall we, dahling?" she asked, giggling softly as she pushed open the door.
