The End?

Poor "S". He should have planned his call so that he wouldn't have actually caught Kissy. Little did he know how quickly she answered her phone and how, even faster, she could come up with excuses to excuse herself from class time. Sorry! It was her advisor's assistant and she needed to totally take the call. Then it was like, hi S, let's discuss the minutae of every conversation we've ever had. How long have you worked for Vale? Do you like it there? Do you have kids? Then somehow he must have thrown the actual details of his call out onto the line in some bizarre element called SILENCE or a PAUSE and possibly pretended the music was too loud and he could no longer hear her.

Because they totally used the soundsystem at like, 11AM on a Monday morning. It seemed weird to her, but like, they probably had to do a sound test and she really liked the song. So she'd stayed on the line until he actually hung up the phone, but totally made a mental note for later to ask him what it was. Then realized she had his number on her ID. When she texted him and it didn't come back returned she totally figured he had texting capability which was like, SUCH a relief.

Like, Ophee had totally said something about a new guide and she should check and blah blah blah, but Kissy liked Vale, or S, or both of them, or just liked leaving them messages, but she was totally keeping things like they were. It wasn't like she needed that much attention, right?

Anyway, she couldn't believe it. She was going on like, her first formal date and it was with a TEACHER!!! How totally embarrassing. She told her dad it was like, an orientation meeting or something and put on a cute top with a sort of floral design on black with white and vibrant, cool colors and a super cute blue linen knee-length skirt w ith some open-toed slingbacks. Not like it was that warm, but Ophee's toenail jobs required some showing off. Her hair was totally still holding the strong tease from the dance and was held in a Whitney throwback head scarf from like, the 80's. A little sparkle eyeshadow and caramel-colored (and flavored!) lip gloss and she was so set.

She stood in front of the school for the second monday in a row looking like a bunch of dollars. And texting at breakneck speed. There were at least a half dozen teenage girls demanding updates by the minute via text message.

Week Six: Friday

Who: ANYONE AND EVERYONE
Where: Heaven
When: Friday Night
What: Charity Date Auction

Eva was something beyond excited. It fluttered about her with nervous energy. If she were out in the open water no doubt there would have been small eddies forming around her in response to the energy she gave off with each and every breath as she hurried about Heaven getting all the last finishing touches done on her crowning achievement. Eva had done her fair share of party planning over the years at Halcyon, she loved being in the mix helping set a mood. And let's face it the girl loved a party... especially a theme party.

But this was something more. It was something that had been entirely her idea. Born of... who the hell knew where but it did put together all her favorite things. Flirting, dating, runway shows, Heaven... the list really could go on. Even in her egotistical glory Eva knew that she couldn't have completed this event without the girls that had volunteered to help out. Taylor, Sam and Frankie had been fantastic, picking up on all the things that Eva was horrible at... you know like the practical aspects of the whole event.

The night had a beach theme as was befitting the charity chosen for the evening and Eva couldn't have been happier. Heaven had been decked out, Vale's assistant proved to be more than helpful at helping her organize the decorations and getting the staff to help out. A runway had been constructed with a podium at the back where Eva planned to do her auctioning from. Tropical plants lined the runway for the dates to strut their stuff along. Eva was almost jealous that she wasn't doing any strutting herself and with the outfit she'd donned for the night... she felt like she could. Perhaps not traditionally beach themed but it was a swimming suit... of sorts and as the auctioneer she thought she needed to glam it up and set herself a part a little.

But when didn't Eva think she needed to set herself a part from the crowd.

Eva exchanged a few last words with the bartenders for the night, making sure that mai tais and other tropical drinks were the order for the night. She wove her way through the tables that had been set up a bit aside from the runway, brightly colored umbrellas over them to add to the theme. She ensured that there was plenty of food ready for people attending and finally she made sure that man at the door was ready to take the $10 dollar cover charge. It was for a charity after all!

Now all she had to do was make sure that the meat er... the dates were ready for their big night!

Week Two: Wednesday

When: Night
Where: Heaven and Hell - Hell
Who: Vale and Grey

Vale was aware of some new arrivals to the island. He was even aware of some of the slippery ties they held. Just because he was not a snake involved in the game didn’t mean he wasn’t aware of the pieces being moved around him. Far too risky to not, he didn’t seek to step on any wrong toes after all. Plus there was always a profit to be made from chaos and paranoia…it increased the sales of drugs for one. And two…gave people the desire to rush out and find something else to occupy their thoughts. The club was more then a decent distraction.

He figured it was only a matter of time before certain individuals came a knocking at his door. There were a few he’d been watching, a few others he’d been playing with already. Val was such a needy creature, so starved for attention…why not indulge from time to time? Of course she was well aware of the rules of his game, so few truly but when it came to those tied to certain others…some lines had need to be made clear.

Tonight was like so many other nights for Vale. After classes he’d seen to a few things and headed down to hell, taking his own car for the trip. He had many really, all of varying designs and advantages. It was a short trip for a man like him and when he walked in he was greeted with kisses to the cheek and eager woman so set to welcome him back for the night. What man could turn away from all that? Certainly not Vale…at least not for awhile.

He played…though even he had some business sense and knew that there were other aspects to running a club that he had need to take care of before the night was over.

A few drinks with regulars, meetings with staff of the club to see how everything was going and if there was any news that he was in dire need to be informed of. But the day had gone rather smoothly, a bit slow of course but that was to be expected for a Wednesday afternoon. Though even the weekday morning hours did not leave the club vacant of patrons. There was always something going on at the club.

Through Heaven Vale slithered and soon enough he found himself within hell, a place far more his home then anywhere else. Nothing quite beat the rhythmic beating that flowed through the ground or the high heats that pressed upon his form. The blood, the sighs, the screams and the moans…who couldn’t appreciate so much that tantalized the senses?

He said his hellos but Vale didn’t linger within hell for long. No eventually he made his way back to his office where he would spend the next few hours catching up on work. Then he could lounge within the club till the sun finally broke over the night and began another day.

All the workers within hell knew where the snake demon was should any ask for him. They knew Vale didn’t truly mind…if he was doing anything that required no interruptions they were all informed of it before hand.

Or could hear that it was a bad time to go about interrupting…

Week Two: Friday

Who: Vale, and Vivian
Where: Heaven and Hell.
When: Friday night.
What: Vivian is seeking employment.

Only a week had passed, but everything seemed to be finally falling back into a livable rhythm for her. The months... hell, it had almost been a year, spent with Henry, had felt as if someone placed a pause on her life. Vivian had been living in his life, doing as he said, doing what he wished to do. It had truly felt as if she were his pet. At the time, she believed that's what was expected of a childe, to their sire. She hadn't known better, but now she did. There were so many vampires here, who had not had their sire there, immediately, to take hold of them. To control them, as they saw fit. Yes, one might feel a bond with their sire, but that connection did not have to determine how you spent time with them.

Some, it seemed, loved their sires. Wished to be with them, even. Others had placed a great amount of distance between them, and their sire. Vivian now wished to do the same with Henry. He had certainly chosen the wrong women, to have, and control. That was not a role, which she would fall into willingly. Yet, she was terrified of him. He had always seemed to anticipate her every move, doing things to prevent her, before she even came about to do them. When they saw each other again, would he still have the upper hand?

As long as she remained at the school, she had some sort of say over how things happened. Her writing had picked up once more, and she was even in talks to publish a novel. Not poems, not short stories, but a true novel. Twelve chapters had all ready been completed, and yet there was still so much story to be told. Gregory, the man she had been dealing with at the company, for over ten years now, was wiry of taking on this type of story. He claimed that no one would be interested in this sort of story, written by a woman. She had to remind him of the hugely popular series, written by Anne Rice. Yes, she hadn't made a cent off her vampire books, had she?

Vivian was determined. The money wasn't an attraction, nor the prospect of popularity. She wouldn't even be able to attach her true name to the book. Knowing that if there was some sort of success associated with them, that she could not afford to have people come looking for her. V.R. Bladen would be the one to receive any sort of praise, that came from the book. A book of her experience with the super natural world. It was almost therapeutic, to revisit those moments through her writing. Even though many proved to be gruesome, and quite disturbing. Though, she felt she understood herself much better now. She'd been a wild bird, caged, and now was her chance to take flight.

Hopefully, by this time next week, she would be riding her bike to the club, as the new tender. Rather than taking a taxi, as a patron. Vivian was fairly confident that she had the skill required for the job. She'd been a bar tender, off, and on for over four years. Though the Dood Perd (Dead Horse), back home, was a bit different from Heaven and Hell. A club was a club though. Just as a pub, was a pub. People always gathered for the same reason, and carried the same expectations of what would take place within the building. Vivian decided that visiting Hell right off, would likely be her best bet, at finding the owner. Razvan, she believed his name to be.

After asking one of the employee's, whether he was present or not, it seemed he was. So, she asked the man to give Razvan the heads up, that she was looking for him. She'd look for him in return though. Vivian began to search the crowd. This wouldn't be the type of meeting, were you set up an appointment. He didn't seem the kind to use an office, for anything that didn't involve truly explicit acts. The kind you didn't do out in the open. Though here, she imagined that the list was rather short. Something she could appreciate.

Week One: Saturday

When: Night
Where: Club Hell
Who: Vale and anyone

Busy busy busy. Vale was a man that enjoyed the sin of sloth but as of late he’d rarely been able to truly indulge in it. With his dear brother gone Vale was rather left to running…everything. Neither snake brother really trusted too many hands being involved in their businesses and so often kept all management to themselves. This city, this club, was no exception to that. It was a job easier with two but manageable by one. Vale made it work of course but there were days where he simply had to brush it all aside. Saturday had been deemed such a day.

There was far too much to see and do for him to be trapped behind a desk pouring over paperwork. No…Vale was the hands on sort of manager. The kind that wanted to be right out in the crowds the club brought in. The sort that wished to give personal hellos to return guests and indulge in all that the club offered. Even as a business man the snake indulged always in all life had to give him.

Tonight was a very busy night for the club. Local bands always did draw interest though it really didn’t take much to give reason for all the schools students to rush down to the club come the weekend. Vale rather enjoyed the prospect of this night however; he was a man with a high interest in music. A love for the rumble that it caused to course through the ground. Vibrations felt and absorbed by the snake demon. More then that he enjoyed seeing what the youths of today could create. Some were set to rise to the stars and others…he had no idea how they thought their sound was anything near to music.

Both Heaven and Hell would be filled with live music tonight. Up above the sound was lighter, some might say popish in tone but it wasn’t really that. It was simply…easier to dance to. The sort of music young girls loved and men enjoyed only because they were all too eager to watch the woman move. Down below the music had to have a darker edge or it was left for the stage up above. Heavy metal, screaming vocals, or seductive natures to lure the crowd at their feet. Vale was not truly a picky man but he knew what fit with Hell and what did not. No sappy love songs or moaning about ones broken heart or lost car. Techno, peppy, country, light, jazz….those all took place in Heaven, not Vale’s sort of Hell.

The sorts that came into hell had to blend with leather and blood. Velvet and screams. The sorts that came into hell wanted something that they could bang their heads to or grind against their dance partner with. They wanted to try to feel it all like the snake could. And Vale did so aim to please…

During the day Vale had seen to business, both the club and his brothers own. Amusing really that a business Vale now ran was one he put so much of his own money into…but at the least he would know more then all others just how potent the product was. Yes he’d sample some of such before forgoing business and entering Hell a few hours after the sun had gone down and the second group was setting up the stage to perform.

He slithered through the crowd, kissing the cheeks of those he knew in passing, speaking faintly in the ear of workers to give orders or hints to what they should be doing. But it was not long before he was at his booth. Dressed in only leather pants and boots, accessorized always with woman who quickly curled at his side.
