It's always been part of the Xavier school to teach us how to use our powers — either to make sure we don't hurt people or that we can protect people. We haven't really been doing that here. That doesn't seem to be an option anymore. There's the whole thing where portals keep opening up over the town and now across the world, and when that happens our children may get separated or want to contribute when we get attacked by krakens and robots and giant spiders and pirates.

During the course of the year, we've been asked to offer defense and survival classes. We've taken this to heart and starting next fall, we will officially be offering those courses. That doesn't help during the summer, so with that said, the Ellie Phimister School is offering a summer program to those 18 and under, Monday through Friday, which will focus on physical fitness, first aid, combat, and survival basics in new environments each week. The classes will start July 2 and end on August 17. They are not mandatory, and students can arrive or leave when suits their (or their guardian's) schedule. This is strictly for those of you who want to learn how best to survive in some of the various situations against some of the potential bad guys who might pop through the portal.

The course will include virtual training in the X-Mansion's Danger Room, under supervision, with field trips as well. Lunch will be provided. The tentative schedule for the course can be found here.

If you'd like to sign up for this program, please contact us on this post. We will need written permission from your guardian, as survival and combat scenarios do have risks. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with the course, please contact us here as well. We will have interviews to find those who are best qualified in a variety of ways.



And as a side note, anyone who would like to have dance lessons over the summer, let me know. Of all ages, not just under 18 year olds. I'll be hosting classes at the school for Beginners, Intermediates, and Advanced dancers. The classes would be twice a week for each. 6-8pm Monday (Beginners), Wednesday (Intermediate), Friday (Advanced). Then 10am-12pm (Advanced), 1-3pm (Intermediate), 3-5pm (Beginners) on Saturday.

Has anyone checked the town newspaper archives for more information on the incident that went down at the base?

I saw that you all fought various things when you came back from the cruise ship and the next day the people in town were calling it a gas leak or something like that. More instances of gas leaks or evacuations of the town for something not out of this world might give a better timeline of when things have come through and what occurred in those days right after the attack on the base. Especially since I'm gathering you don't know what happened to the perpetrator(s).

My 10 year old can keep glaring at me all he wants, but who can explain the school situation a bit better to me. Because he's going.

I ran into Bastion.

Okay so when I was alive the first time around, I was basically a horrible person. A dumpster fire. A dirt bag. Being dead and faced with punishment and all that, I started to learn how to be a good person, even though I didn't really think I'd ever get to the Good Place.

Now I'm alive again and the only thing I've been doing for the last twelve years is sell crappy medication to sick and old people to try and weasel them out of however much money I could, but I don't want to do that anymore.

Passover would be starting back home so if anyone wants to join me, I'll be on the top deck at sunset. I've asked some of the robots if they could make matzo. Can't really do a traditional Passover seder, but it's something.

We're probably going to need parts to fix the engine(s). I'm going to start taking collections of tech that you can part with in the school. Anything at all from remotes to televisions to bits and bops in your electric toothbrushes. We just don't know what we're going to need.

I'll be keeping a list of who donates what so that when we get this restored we can return your items.

We need 2-3 people per residential deck to check each suite to make sure things are okay - no one's trapped or injured, nothing's been set on fire, that sort of thing. Ideally people who are fairly well-known and trusted for obvious reasons, so if you never talk to anyone and lurk in dark corners a lot don't be surprised if I side-eye you being too eager here.

I own a horse.

Now, to be clear, this was not the end game goal when I started out this morning, but things have no less ended such that I now own a horse. You may ask, "How?"

It begins with a river stone, which, as you may guess, was found alongside a river. I told Ben that I was certain I could convince someone it was worth twice its value, and all without a single bit of magic. Then, it became seeing how far I could keep going. Really, I'm sure that I could carry on, but I feel as though everything else after a horse would have to be disappointing. Possibly even insulting to the aforementioned horse.

Anyway, that's all backstory. I plan to name it appropriately and donate it to some downtrodden family, out of the pure and resolute goodness of my heart, of course.

Name ideas. Go. Give me your best... or your worst.

For the record? 'Learn some of Merlin's magic (though not from Merlin himself)' from the brochure is a scam. They won't teach you any real magic. All they do is tell tales of what Merlin did. I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of time, but I was disappointed.

Also? The Lady of the Lake is nothing like the tales. She's a siren who'll entice you with her powers of illusion and then try to drown you. Water plants come forward and ensnare you so you can't swim to the surface. I learned this the hard way. The only way I managed to escape my death was that my Cloak saved me.

This morning, I was on my way to check out the Sword in the Stone, when an old woman came up to me and handed me one of these magic beans. Does anybody want to accompany me on an adventure?

Apparently gifting someone mithril ore is a big deal here. I was just trying to be thoughtful cause we've had a real nice time in Rivendell and the Elves have been nothing but nice and courteous to me and the girls. So I figured I'd give them one of the rather large pieces I managed to get from the mountain earlier in the week as a thank ya.

Now I've had to try and diplomatically turn down a proposal, try to explain I ain't needing anything in return since it was a thank ya for their hospitality in the first place, turn down a horse cause I ain't sure where it'd go on the boat, and now accepted enough genuine Elven clothing and jewelry for me and the girls to wear for a month or more.

So ya know, be careful of any gifts ya try and give.

We were fairly laissez faire with Atlantis and got caught up in the middle of a war. Middle Earth already has the potential to be a lot more potentially violent. So let's talk safety in Middle Earth.

I don't want anyone going off on their own. Use the buddy system--at least--particularly if you are going outside of the Grey Havens.

If you are leaving the Grey Havens, make sure you are suitably equipped with equipment you have some idea how to use (or have someone in your party capable of defense). Communicate your position regularly in case you need to be picked up in an emergency.

Until we have a better feel of the attitude of the locals, keep your powers close to your chest.

Do not go looking for fights especially those of you who are still recovering from Atlantis. There is nothing cool about getting your ass kicked by a dragon.

If there are rumblings of conflict between the native groups, regroup at the ship ASAP.

Scott and I were given an informational packet about how the school system apparently works on the ship. Anyone 17 and younger is required to attend school, Monday to Friday, 9am-1pm, unless we are docked at a port.

This is basically what EPS has been trained for, but I know we got a number of others who teach or might want the opportunity to do so. If you would like to help out with making sure all the kids here can get a quality education, please respond here with what you're willing to teach and we'll get you on our roster and set up with everything.

I'm gonna ask all EPS teachers to respond to this too, to ensure we're all accounted for.

For all the X-people out there, who wants to switch rooms with me?

Stating the obvious aside: we've made another jump. Some of you remember (and would like to forget) the Prettiest Star space cruise ship. This one is on water this time. From what I can tell, it's a luxury cruise ship. Most of what I've seen seems familiar to cruise ships on Earth, but who knows so make sure you're careful until we know exactly what we're dealing with.
