You might've remembered the last time I wrote, I was complaining about a case I was assigned by the City. I didn't have to ask to be reassigned since I ended up leaving the town's law department to start my own private practice with Laurel and Harvey (and if that combination of names doesn't make you laugh, then you need to watch some old comedies). The case was turned over to somebody else, and I just heard that the guy decided to plead guilty to the charges.

While I realize that many people here already know how to fight, there may be some who are looking to learn new skills. I am teaching sambo at Howlett Gym. If you have never heard of sambo, it is the Russian martial art. I am 1953 Soviet champion. Mostly sambo is learning how to disarm another person, to get them to the ground and subdue them. Very effective self-defense.

This video has some good examples of sambo techniques. If you are interested in the class or want to learn more, do not hesitate to ask.

Matt and Pidge are good kids. My arm used to look like this and I had to attach it with a harness. It did it's job pretty good, I was able to hold a man from falling off my truck doing 80.

This is what it looks like now. I have more coordination with it. It attaches at the shoulder. I'm really happy with it.

Right so, I ain’t sure when we’ll be actually needing this, but I’ve gone and set up an emergency location for the Displaced for whenever shit hits the fan and we can’t go staying here in Tumbleweed. While I’d really like something like those bracelets we all had on the cruise for teleporting everyone no matter where they might be to be around for use, they just ain’t. Hit me up if’n ya think you can make something like that.

I’ve been working to finish adding up housing options and gotten some people to help limit the path of the local fauna that might’ve caused us all some issues if they were allowed to run around everywhere. It runs on solar power and backup generators. Wind power is getting installed soon once I figure out where would be best to go setting it up. There’s a greenhouse that’s already up and running and livestock are getting settled in this week.

Hope you're all recovering alright.

Cassie and I talked after the battle and we decided to stay out of that kind of thing in the future. It's one thing to defend ourselves against some shit that comes out of the portal, it's different to get involved in a war between two countries we don't know the first thing about. We don't know the first thing about the history of those two countries, and there wasn't any damn way for us to know. In the moment we all decided to defend Atlantis because it seemed like they were the victims, but we don't know what happened before we arrived, what they might've done to provoke it. Maybe we were right, maybe we weren't.

So, next time we end up in the middle of anything like this, I'll be taking shelter and waiting it out. You all can make your own choices, but I'm done fighting any battles I don't know the reason for.

Won't be moderating group on Wednesday, need someone to take over this week. I'll be back to running it the following week.

I'll throw in some kraken jerky to whoever helps out.

I've got to hand it to the medical staff in this ship. They were able to heal my injuries in a fraction of the time that it should've taken. Before anybody asks, I was in a hit and run accident, and yes, I'm doing much better now. Sore, but better. My name is Matt Murdock, and I'm glad to hear some people I know are here already. It makes things easier. My good friend, Karen, showed me to my cabin where, among other things, a Hawaiian shirt was waiting for me. Karen told me it looks pretty loud, so of course I had to wear it, immediately. I'd like to do a bit of exploring, especially on the upper decks. I've never been on a cruise ship before, much less an alternative universe one.

So this place is fun and all, but a few of us think patrols would be a good idea, just to stay on the cautious side. No one's seen anything worth panicking over, so this isn't a response to anything, but better safe than sorry. To keep people from doing the same thing and maybe bring everyone together, here's a sort of schedule of what people are wanting to do for night patrols.

Need a partner for night patrols. Dates and times are up in the air, but I'm thinking Monday to Thursday, from 1 AM to 4 AM. Let me know if you're interested or hit me up on Logan's post here. Volunteers for other times/nights are welcomed there too.

EDIT: So people were hella responsive. So I got a schedule sort of going and tried to filter to as many adults as possible capable of helping.

If you want to help, fill in where there are openings, yeah? More than two people to a slot is ideal. But remember, if you got school, try to grab an earlier shift or work weekends so you're not falling asleep in class. Cause I don't want to get yelled at by any teachers.

Hey, so Frank brought this up about a week ago and I ended up running with it, with some nudges. There's a need for a veteran's group that caters to the Displaced. We didn't have one, now we do.

Logan's Gym, Sunday evenings around 7 PM. Come when you want, leave when you want. Whatever we talk about stays in group and we leave the place how we found it. Bring a few bucks when you can, but that's not mandatory, and we can maybe even start serving some coffee and food too. I'll cover it for the first couple of weeks.

We got range to use the equipment too, but it's "You break it, you buy it."

So, yeah. Show up if you need it.
