I put in for a service dog. Apparently, they can be good for people in wheelchairs to help with mobility and other things. Plus, it'll be nice to have someone who can help me so that Cassie isn't doing extra work for me. I found a program that pairs people with dogs fairly quickly, and I'll have to take some classes so I can get used to having one, but it's a step forward. I've had a woman involved with the program contact me, and I've already been paired with one.

Now that it isn't the middle of the night and my son and I have slept and eaten more pancakes than I know what to do with--protip always keep emergency money in your bra, ladies--I've got a few questions. I read through the network a bit so might not quite be your typical ones from new arrivals.

Already know the fiction thing; googled myself about 10 minutes into being here.

  • Has anyone checked the town newspaper archives for more information on the incident that went down at the base?

    I saw that you all fought various things when you came back from the cruise ship and the next day the people in town were calling it a gas leak or something like that. More instances of gas leaks or evacuations of the town for something not out of this world might give a better timeline of when things have come through and what occurred in those days right after the attack on the base. Especially since I'm gathering you don't know what happened to the perpetrator(s).

  • Schools.

    My 10 year old can keep glaring at me all he wants, but who can explain the school situation a bit better to me. Because he's going.

  • Housing. It just shows up? Are you tracking that in any way?

    Because Granny's is great but we're not about to move in here.

    Oh right. Lois Lane.

    So apparently this possible flower crown of a Pokemon is really good at healing, which like...is very important. I don't actually know that much about Pokemon, but I wasn't really into the games when I was younger. My dad got me a pack for my birthday once, but mostly it was just magic kits and stuff. Thanks for posting information about the Pokemon on here, though, because I'd have had no idea and probably traded something we'd all apparently need. Also I guess it's kind of cute.

    It had plenty of flowers to choose from on the boat, so it seems pretty at home now. I never really considered myself a flower Pokemon sort of person, but then I never really considered myself a Pokemon sort of person, so I guess that's not really surprising or different. King Quentin of the flower crowns, I guess. Or I can stick with Moderately Socially Maladjusted. It just seemed shorter.

    Quick linguistics lesson.

    Tolkien had Opinions, with a capital O, about Elves and adjectives. Pretty sure he gave his editors heartburn expressing them.

    Here's the short version. Elvish = pertaining to the languages of the Elves. Elven = pertaining to everything else having to do with Elves.

    Example: The Elvish tongue. Elven robes. Elvish writing. Elven settlements.

    He didn't like elfish or elfin at all, pretty much.

    "Elvish, elvish has been changed to Elfish, elfish 7 times but left unchanged 3 times. I view this procedure with dudgeon. The older and 'historical' form elvish is still recognized, and appears even in such popular dictionaries as the 'Pocket Oxford'. I suppose I should be grateful that Cox and Wyman have not inflicted the change from elven to elfin ..." - Letters #236

    Oh golly! This is so exciting! I've never been around live humans before and, well, the rest of you crazy kids, too. This is so great, I just know I'm going to learn so much from all of you.

    What do you think I should do first? I've been debating between trying a saltine or wearing flip flops. Flip flops! Can you imagine? Me, an eternal celestial being in flip flops? It's going to be so exciting. I just hope this meat suit holds up okay. I'm certain that as long as I keep out of trouble, we won't have to worry about any kind of cosmic reverberation wiping you all out of existence should it become too damaged.

    Oh! Oh! Does anyone have any questions for me? You humans (and other beautiful souls) are always so curious! I'm an architect and I design neighborhoods in The Good place. ;) I suppose I could start by clarifying things that are good, versus things that are bad.

    Vaguebooking is definitely bad. Please be careful when using this forum to express your feelings. It's certainly not as bad as murder or paying money for music performed by California funk rock band The Red Hot Chili Peppers but all those little negatives add up, you know.
