Greetings to you, people of Tumbleweed. I am Phèdre nó Delaunay de Montrève. I've been sequestered for some days now as I learn about this land and how to begin living in it. I feel more ready now to begin making your acquaintance.

I've consulted the maps and history summaries, and it appears my homeland of Terre d'Ange shares its geography and many features with "France," and the greater land of Europa with "Europe." Someday I may determine precisely when things became so different while still sharing somewhat that is considered historic here. For instance, your "Jesus Christ" appears to be Yeshua ben Yosef, whose spilled blood mingled with the Magdalene's tears in the womb of the Earth to beget Elua; Blessed Elua and his Companions have no counterpart that I've yet found. Your "Roman" Empire made conquests where our Tiberians were driven back. This place is on a continent I never knew existed, if it does exist in my world.

I'm already quite fond of the baths. I'm accustomed many buckets of heated water poured into the tub if one wants any warmth. There is much that is different, but the pleasure of a hot bath isn't lost to me.

My deepest thanks to Mesdames Tano and Wells for their continued assistance, especially upon my arrival. Your patience with me has gone far towards alleviating my bewilderment with this world. Athoek Station, part of it, has arrived with me, and Station - its AI - is in need of more assistance than I can provide. The Botanical Gardens, recently repaired, will need regular work to maintain it. Given enough time, I can take care of the rest of Station. The Undergarden was mostly repaired, and I can fix what remains. However, living things cannot be ignored for so long. Unfortunately, having just arrived, I do not have local currency on a scale to pay anyone yet. I do have more than enough food, we grow our own, as well as tea and other options, pursuant to conversation and your needs.

While I could spend all my hours maintaining Station, and I will spend a good number of them doing just that, I am also interested in gaining paid employment. I have roughly two thousand years experience in the military, five years experience as civilian security, as well as experience in a multitude of jobs from janitorial to sewing to sports. I am fluent in more than sixty languages and learn new ones easily. If you have means and need for any of my skills or ones I could learn, I am interested in speaking with you.

We've never had a pride month in our world, but the more I read up about it here, the more I think it was probably a good thing. We didn't really have such open prejudice in our world. The biggest one was benders against non-benders, and that was mostly short-lived.

I see congratulations are in order for forming your own country. It is a terrible shame that I should arrive here in the New World along with Mrs. Quigley's home, but no Mrs. Quigley to speak of, nor anyone else who previously resided there. May I be among those to express my delight at last weekend's ball. It had to be one of the most enjoyable evenings I've had since my arrival through the portal. The catering was marvelous, and in particular the pastries. They were of interest to me because recently I've come across the BBC program, The Great British Baking Show, and I can't get enough! Most of the items I already know how to bake - bread, Victoria sponges, self saucing puddings, even fancy preparations such as Mille-Feuille, but there are a lot of new techniques that are exciting. Since the portal brought over all my baking equipment and supplies, I've considered taking a course.

Art students, remember you'll be getting the instructions for your final assignment tomorrow as well, so if you don't turn up at least arrange to look at someone's notes. It will be turned in alongside your portfolio of work from this year, and yes, there will be marks for presentation.

With a ball coming up and with myself being without a job so far, I'd like to offer my services as a Grisha Tailor to the masses that will be attending.

First point I'd like to make is that by Tailor, I do not mean in terms of clothes. I work with physical attributes. I can make blemishes disappear. I can do a variety of hairstyles and add shiny to your locks. I can match your makeup perfectly to the dress you plan on wearing. I'll even give your eyes a particular tint. I can do most of this without caking your face full of foundation and primer and whatnot that the beauty salons of this world love so much.

If you're wondering about my credentials in this department, this is all I did during my life living at the palace in my world for the Queen. I was her Tailor for all the big events, having lived with her since I was five. I was a servant girl in this matter, however, so my payment was basically food and a roof over my head, but I've accumulated years of skill-honing.

How are you coping? The lack of heartbeat took me some time to adjust to. The feeling of it in your chest, the rush of blood through your ears... You don't really think about it until it's gone and then everything just feels ... empty.

I try to fill it with as much talking or music as I can. Something to keep me from thinking about it. I hope that helps.

I have far too many jumpers and exactly no reason to wear any of them. I guess I'm going to have to pack them up for a time where we end up in a place where it matters to have them. Or we have a surprise blizzard again.
