[Private to the Doctors (Ten and Metacrisis)]
Right. So, try to make this as quick and painless as possible. You'll want to sit down for this. Maybe get a drink.
Ready?
The most important thing you've got to know about our future is that Gallifrey was not destroyed.
Let me repeat that for those in the back. Gallifrey Was Not Destroyed.
When we stole the Moment, just before we pressed the button, it gave us a glimpse into what this action would do to us, how it would affect us by showing us two future regenerations of ourselves, namely your regeneration and the one that comes right after you. We interacted with one another, and saved Earth (which was really par for the course). But when it came down to it, even after being shown the consequences of our action, we decided to press the button, anyway, concluding that it was still worth the mental turmoil we'd experience if it meant destroying the Daleks at this time. But then we came up with an alternative idea.
Instead, we got together all thirteen of our past and present regenerations and surrounded Gallifrey with our TARDISes. We froze the planet in a moment of time and tucked her away into a pocket universe. When the planet disappeared, the Daleks that surrounded Gallifrey got caught in their own crossfire and blew each other up, making it look like Gallifrey was destroyed. Because our time lines were out of sync, our past selves forgot what we'd done, which is why you still believe it happened, but our most recent regeneration retained the memory, which is why I can tell you that it did happen.
That's about it.
Oh, and the Master survived somehow and regenerated into a woman's body, and calls herself Missy.
