For those that don't drink, but want to actually do something besides fall asleep on New Year's Eve- Arclight Cinemas is having a 1950s movie marathon. Starts at noon, $20, lots of old cheesy movies, old-school treats, and old-school cola.

It is fascinating how things almost seem normal. We mask the problem by embracing the things that might bring a chance at good memories. The fake cheer sold by the stores only does so much, but I will admit hot cocoa does a lot to fix things.
