Day 55.Weather: Temperatures dip into the low 50s and remain there, but there’s very little wind and not a cloud in the sky. It’s a bright, sunny day, and that helps a great deal.
Events: It’s another beautiful day in Mount Zenith! In theory.
At 7 AM, two new subjects, August and Rae, will begin to wake up in their new rooms. The conditions awaiting them are pretty standard. They’re in the same situation those on
day 1 - hospital gowns, IVs, box of their clothing, with of course the added addition that their doors will not open until they access the network. On their computers, they will find very similar greetings to those received on
day 2.
Simms was moved back into the house yesterday, and as promised, TPTB will be getting in touch with him at the first available opportunity. He and his night guards would have slept briefly in the the night, and upon awaking, his computer would be in his cell with him. Whether it be today or not,
the first time that Simms is either left alone, or
only in the presence of fellow Experiment B guards, he’ll receive a message on his computer from TPTB. It reads:
“Greetings.
As promised, we have secured a way for you to move within the house. There is a secret passageway out of your cell, but we have some strict requirements for your use of it.
First, this passageway cannot be accessed in the presence of anyone outside of Experiment B. It will not open unless you are alone, or only in their company. You are to make it your greatest priority to not be caught outside of your cell. For this reason, you may find it beneficial to make arrangements with your companions in B to cover for you on your outings. If you are caught outside of your cell, we cannot guess as to how the others in the house will react. At any rate, you will almost certainly feel the leash tighten around your neck.
Owen’s computer now has surveillance feeds of the security level, but when the passageway is triggered, footage will loop seamlessly to cover for you. Those in Experiment B will still be able to see the true footage.
If someone accesses the elevator while you are outside of your cell, the lift will move at a decreased speed. You will also feel a slight vibration in your implant. This will cause you perhaps some discomfort, but should not pain you. It is your warning that you have less than two minutes to return to your cell. Should you get caught, you are on your own.
We are still willing to reward you for continued efforts on your part. If you can convince a second person in the house that you have genuine remorse for your actions, we will give you the ability to sedate your guards at any time so that you may access the passageway and leave. We may also grant access to additional exits of the passageway. At current, you only have one choice available to you.
The passageway is in the ceiling above your toilet and sink. Speak the words trojan horse while standing at your sink and it will unlock. You will have to use your toilet and sink to climb into the passageway.
Good luck, and happy travels.”
If those conditions are met, a hatch in the ceiling will click and reveal itself. There is
nothing there to have previously hinted at its existence. It is built seamlessly into the ceiling, and knocking on that part of the ceiling would sound no different than anywhere else.
The passageway itself is a small, narrow tunnel. When Simms climbs into the point of entry, he won’t have enough room to even stand. He’ll have no option but to crawl along in the dark, towards a small point of red light. Eventually the tunnel bends up, with large metal rungs built into the wall for use as a ladder. There is a dim red light through this shaft, and the ladder goes up at least 70 feet. It’s not an easy climb and it’s certainly claustrophobic, but a man in good physical shape like Simms should be able to navigate it, even with his broken fingers. At the top is a small landing, giving him just enough room to sit on the edge and dangle his legs over the side. There is a small door that will open for him automatically - and it opens into a cupboard under the sinks of the public bathroom on the first floor. Considering that’s directly in between Owen and Cecilia’s bedrooms, it’s certainly not the most
ideal of locations.
It is worth noting that while Experiment B can view the true footage of what’s happening on the security level, they do
not have surveillance access of the inside of Simms’ passageway.
Finally, those crazy kooks have one last bit of weirdness in store for the day. At random times through-out the course of the day and night, those on the third and fourth floors may hear a very unpleasant sound. Sometimes it’s not terribly loud, and yet sometimes it’s forceful enough to make the wall hangings rumble. It’s a sort of dragging, creaking, metal-on-metal type of sound. It may be hard to place the source at first, but the subjects may eventually realize it’s coming from the mystery room on the fourth floor.
Every time after the sound is heard, the horrific statue in that room changes places. No one will ever
see it happen, not even those in Experiment B. It’s still impossible for anyone in the house to move it themselves, or even tip it over.
Well, that’s just
great, innit?
