Hope you're all recovering alright.

Cassie and I talked after the battle and we decided to stay out of that kind of thing in the future. It's one thing to defend ourselves against some shit that comes out of the portal, it's different to get involved in a war between two countries we don't know the first thing about. We don't know the first thing about the history of those two countries, and there wasn't any damn way for us to know. In the moment we all decided to defend Atlantis because it seemed like they were the victims, but we don't know what happened before we arrived, what they might've done to provoke it. Maybe we were right, maybe we weren't.

So, next time we end up in the middle of anything like this, I'll be taking shelter and waiting it out. You all can make your own choices, but I'm done fighting any battles I don't know the reason for.

Fair enough. Elektra and I stuck to defending the ship, and from what I understood, those on the mainland defended the Library where our non-combative friends were holding out. I wasn't aware there were others who actually went out to meet the Siren army, taking sides with the Atlantean troops.

Speaking for myself, if we find ourselves in a situation like this again, I won't hesitate to help unarmed citizens from being harmed. You're right, we don't know the history behind these two factions, but I don't care which side they're on, if somebody who can't defend themselves needs protection from trained and hostile soldiers, I've got to step in. Let the soldiers fight among themselves, leave civilians alone.

Defending anything meant fighting the Siren army. Who else were you fighting with?

War's more complicated than who has a gun and who hasn't. It ain't like criminals battling it out in Hell's Kitchen. Civilians can be complicit in oppressive regimes. What if this land had been stolen from the Sirens? What if they were being exploited for labor back in their own territory, wherever that was? I'm not saying that's true, just that it could've been, and not knowing bothers the hell out of me. Whatever we did, big or little, it contributed to their loss. We might've changed things for the worse.

You're gonna do what you're gonna do, I don't expect to change your mind. Just explaining my reasoning.
