I had something of a conversation with one of my friends. I could not entirely characterize it as something that went well. But it went. It was a start. It is striking how one's thoughts sound outside of one's head, instead of inside it. Their character changes, or rather, perhaps it's my view of them that shifts.

Texas felt much more welcoming in winter. With all this heat, the evenings and nights are better than the days.

I know we're all looking forward to a good old fashioned cookout on Sunday, but in anticipation of waking up on Monday all sad that now you don't have a cookout to look forward to I would like to remind everyone that Wednesday is a holiday. The birthday of our great nation*, and also of our great Steve Rogerses**, and we'll be celebrating both of those Wednesday afternoon at the Barton's place, right by the Avengers Compound. Remember, he's very shy, so we have to make sure that anything embarrassingly over the top is celebrating the country, not the person(s).

Except the cake. There will be cake and someone's going to have to blow out all the candles.
