Can't say I've had a good weekend like this past one in a while. Rock-climbing with Vi on Saturday, games with Laura on Saturday night, and a pool-date with my granddaughter on Sunday. And we've just arrived in Middle Earth. I'll be damned. Gotta say I'm excited for this. Backpacking through the lands should be fun. Just have to figure out where to start.

I don't think two weeks is going to be long enough to do all the things there are to do in Middle Earth. How is everyone else deciding what takes priority?

Venturing off on our own for a few days? Kind of eager to see Lothlorien, but I think I vaguely remember something about magic protecting it from evil. It's a little murky when it comes to unpleasant histories though.

I can vibe us there, we can see if it smells like freshly mowed grass and flowers, eat literally anything and everything we want, and then maybe take a hit of the longbottom leaf if that's okay with your doc. I must say, I've been spending plenty of time in the libraries on this boat, because there's really nothing else for me to do on this thing, other than work on a new book (but I need the library for that anyway! no internet, alas). I've learned a great deal of stuff that's different from my world and catching up on what's normal here.

Thankfully, Lord of the Rings is not one of them because it seems like Lord of the Rings is universal. As it should be!

My only question is how is the wheelchair accessibility here? Can I get a horse trained to someone with this kind of disability? I can't not go.

These Elven robes are of such a fine quality material that I wish to buy several of them to take back with me to the ship. The rental one, while the most beautiful, also has given me pointy ears, which I cannot say I am fond of. I look dreadful.

I think I'm going to visit Rohan, as it sounds lovely and there are apparently horses to be ridden. Does anyone else ride?

Okay, we are going to Gondor definitely. And perhaps the Shire, though in the amount of time it would take us to walk there, we would probably have to be back on the boat. Perhaps we can also visit Fanghorn Forest, because then we might be able to meet some Ents.

I do not know where to start.

Heads up mostly meant for Team Voltron, but also to anyone else who wants to know: I'm planning on spending our entire time here off the ship, as a dwarf, with the dwarves. Going to be learning smithing and seeing about getting some mithril. I probably won't be checking the network as regularly since I might actually be smithing and all at the time things go down. But I'll touch base regularly, and if you too want to learn this kind of stuff, you're welcome to come along.

I'm just going to go ahead and state the obvious: this place is just so big, pretty certain two weeks isn't enough time to come close.
