How comfortable are you letting some of the nerds that I've become friendly with into the Library?

I've got a job for an interested tech. I'd love something like this (both the functionality and some thought towards aesthetics) but as far as I can tell it's not commercially available yet. I'll pay $200 plus cost of materials.

After the crick in the last time, you'd think a guy would quit falling asleep in the middle of a book while sitting up. Old books are great until you try to make a pillow out of 'em.

I don't like this situation with the missing military.

We're back in Tumbleweed, but as some of you may have figured out, the town is completely different than it was the last time we were here. There's an airport now, which my car navigation system pointed out, and it's on the opposite side of town from Fort Neill.

Of course, that's not the most startling or disturbing difference. Fort Neill is a graveyard, and I mean that in the kindest sense of the world. It was locked up when I got there. Got my way in to find a dusty military facility that has not been used in quite some time, and it looks like it didn't happen on purpose.

The military is dead, and I don't mean they cleared out. I mean there is an entire facility full of the skeletal remains of whoever was in there when something happened. That something appears to have been some sort of [...] feeding, possible animal attack. There are definite teeth marks on these bones, and the state of decomposure... it's not new. At least a decade, maybe more so it's not as horrendous as it could be to see.

I have not turned the power on; I don't want to disturb the bodies more than I already have, but I'd like for anyone interested in helping to come down to the facility to move these bodies — telekinesis, magic, or just standard issue gloves — so that we don't taint the bodies with our DNA. We'll have to keep the power off until that happens, and then there should be video monitoring we can check to see what happened, check databases and logs to see if there's any evidence of what might have happened here.

I'm leaving this open so we can discuss what to do. After scrounging around the base, I haven't seen any paperwork or IDs for those of you who arrived on the cruise so that's something we should work on immediately to get people in the system so they can work, get IDs, and whatever else they need. We'll need people who can make IDs and people who can get into the necessary systems for government agencies to make sure the back-end is taken care of in anyone wants to cross state or country lines.

And a warning to some of you who worked at the military before: yes, we knew some of these people if the names on the uniforms check out.

I doubt we'll be able to catch all of those. The first nine are the starters and their evolutions and in the game you can only choose one set of those. At the end of the list are legendaries and they're incredibly difficult to find and catch. I'd assume we can rule any of those out. The rest, I don't know.


For everyone who doesn't have a clue what we're going on about, Pokemon are... in some ways an equivalent to animals, but broader than that. I think the game concept actually came from insect collecting. The idea of the games is to try to collect every kind of Pokemon by catching wild ones, evolving the ones you have through training and using items, and trading with other people. You can also put Pokemon in battles against other trainers, which sounds like those underground dog fighting rings but supposedly Pokemon enjoy it and it's definitely a lot more regulated. A Pokemon can only know four skills, fights end when one is knocked out, and they're easy to heal at Pokecenters which are free for trainers to use and located in almost every town and city. As well as fighting there are other things like beauty and talent shows, so it's not all horribly violent. The different types partly determine what they're strong and weak against in battles and also to some extent where you can find them. Water Pokemon, obviously you'll want to look in the sea, rivers, lakes. Rock Pokemon in the mountains, grass Pokemon in fields, fire Pokemon I'd probably head to the volcano.

Or you can just ignore the Pokemon and do the standard tourist-y things like the dinosaur park and resort.

We're probably going to need parts to fix the engine(s). I'm going to start taking collections of tech that you can part with in the school. Anything at all from remotes to televisions to bits and bops in your electric toothbrushes. We just don't know what we're going to need.

I'll be keeping a list of who donates what so that when we get this restored we can return your items.

Okay, so I have the sexiest looking filing structure program you've ever seen ready to convert your library files into plain text and file them according to subject matter and whatever parameters you want to set up.

We can set it to auto-sort your Atlantis files from that external hard drive and I have a portable version that we can take with us when we start hitting up whatever libraries you have on your list for Middle Earth. It saves you a step by scanning and sorting all at once.

Since we're talking about emergency plans, a message for the tech geeks. Dr Aphra and Ezekiel Jones are discussing a command centre to handle communications - both alerting everyone to emergencies and making sure no one gets cut off during an active situation. I'll also be there to keep track of the information we receive and assign tasks to mobile response units so we don't get some things being forgotten while too many people go somewhere else and I believe Charles will be with us as a telepath. If anyone has hardware or skills that would help, they're the two to talk to.

Personally speaking, I can work with a whiteboard or pencil and paper if I have to but coding an interactive map of the ship I can manipulate on a tablet would be more effective. I can do it myself but I know we have some coders around who might be able to do a better job.

Incidentally the Coffee Bar is actually ridiculously good. Let's not have aliens steal all our coffee this time.

I know we got the patrols set up and I've seem some talk here and there from people wanting to figure out what to do in case something does actually happen, ship being attacked and all that. But did we ever come up with an emergency plan? Cause I'm kinda thinking it might be a good idea to do that.
