It's unfortunately devoid of furniture, but there are several jugs of water and glasses sitting in a corner for refreshments. [The first thing you might notice is that the door is painfully ajar. Past the doorway, all is silent. No bickering, no laughing, no conversation, nothing. The table is -- or was -- set for a meal of some kind. You can tell because it's still there, in bits and pieces. A plate only half empty. Utensils dropped to the floor. And towards the kitchen, a pot of grain-and-fish stew, broken on the floor as if its owner hadn't even had time to put it down before vanishing.]

[An irritable tapping cadence summons you to the arena. The Surgeon is sitting on the throne today, and at his feet, there are chairs and desk consoles with computer screens and writing tablets in front of them. Each of them are in a certain team color, with enough monitors and pads for every team member. The chairs look singularly uncomfortable.]

Hmmm... Lets see if performances are a little more... up to standard this time. I trust you will grasp the mechanics of the experiment quickly enough.

The project will start shortly, in the meantime, there is an exercise available to perform to demonstrate some cognitive function. Surprise me.

What: Game.

If you're on one of those teams, you can hear some happy music drawing you to the Arena. The arena is somehow, now, an tropical island. An island with a tiny volcano on it, serving as a firepit. There are also palm trees everywhere, and building, thatched with palm leaves, the door of which is locked for now.

On the throne is a judge none of you have ever seen before...you think? His mask does make it rather hard to tell. He's holding a surfboard in one hand, and his other is raised in a shaka.

"What is up, my little blank dudes! Are you totally stoked for the game?"
