In exactly two weeks (well, maybe not exactly exactly if we're counting down to the minute and second), I will be 23! I don't know why this is exciting, except that I always enjoy birthdays whether they be my own or my friends'. Mum wants to know what I'd like this year, and part of me started wondering about a party. I certainly don't feel too old to have a party, but because my birthday is on a Monday, I don't know that I should since so many people have work during the week, and I don't want to inconvenient them by having a party on my birthday or by throwing off their weekend plans. Additionally, there aren't that many people who I would want to invite. Seeing as how it would be my party, I'd much prefer the guests be people I enjoy being around and not just people who make up society as a whole. I am, however, considering going to the spa for the day! Manicure, pedicure, massage, facial -- it all sounds lovely! And maybe a shopping trip! I'm not sure which spa, though. There are so many lovely ones to choose from! Baden-Baden is high on the list, so I might just have to brush up on my Deutsch! Bagnoles-de-l'Orne could also be lovely!, even if France is terribly overrated and over-done. It does seem popular with the nouveau riche and class-less So many options! I'll have to make a list to figure out which one will be best.

I've been trying out some new recipes. I wouldn't mind some taste-testers if anyone has some time. I promise it's nothing odd. No gross things mixed with other gross things.

An issue of the Quibbler is coming on Wednesday. If you would like a copy, let me know. I need to make a new updated list of customers.

Something is clearly wrong with this solution. I think it's old, or I was sold a bad batch. ALL of my photos are turning out very blandly still! I may not be an expert, but I've done this before, and they've turned out just fine and dandy and moving like they're supposed to! You cannot see the moving sea life or the crashing waves or anything in these photos! They are terribly stagnant when I did not want stagnant at all! I AM NOT A BLOODY MUGGLE, AFTER ALL! And I refuse to give in to this trend you all have that involves showing off all your boringly still photographs. After all, I would have developed them as such if I wanted that. But I didn't. I wanted large prints in frames on the walls to remind me of my trip, to watch the sunset and the night life and everything else from my small holiday.

Hopefully I can salvage my photos.

Until then, I suppose sharing copies of these two will have to do. )

Greetings from the Florida Keys! Key West, to be specific. The water and sand are so beautiful! I left my camera in my room, or I'd share a few photos right now. There are so many Muggles! Right now, I'm lounging on the beach, but later, we're having dinner on one client's yacht. Already I can tell I'll have to come back to explore for more than a weekend!

I have the cutest new swimming costume! I got it for a little holiday I'm going on next weekend with Mum and Dad. They're doing business in the States and invited me along. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that there are several clients with single sons, but I'm happy for a nice, short beach holiday!

Oh my goodness! I was working on a blanket, and I noticed two rounds later that there's a messed up stitch! And I can't just wave my wand and fix it magically because of how the yarn is connected and knotted together. (I've tried before. It makes the mess bigger instead of fixing it entirely.) No no. It has to be entirely unraveled and redone. This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't at the very beginning of a round two rounds back! That's hundreds of stitches and hours of work for nothing! The only good thing here is I can use magic to unravel the yarn and wind it into balls. But it's just so frustrating when things like this happen on a project, especially because I was almost done with it, too.

Once this yarn is unraveled and wound up, I'm going to have some tea.

I'm really enjoying the process of moving into my new house! Or should I say new home? It's exciting opening up all the closed drapes to let light in, going through what items should stay in this house and what should leave (as it's come furnished), wondering about what paint would look best in which room, what remodeling needs to be done while what should stay the same, and how it will all look in the end! There is, of course, lots to be done. Lots of organising and cleaning and shopping for things like flatware and kitchen utensils and linen. Who would have thought such things would be so exciting?

But one thing I do not find exciting is boggarts. Or one boggart. I think.

Apparently the previous occupants of this house were... interesting, to say the very least, and a boggart's moved into one of the upstairs wardrobes. This wouldn't really be a problem, except that it seems to keep moving from one dark space to another! Either that, or there's another boggart! It is very disturbing annoying trying to clean just to be confronted by one.

I've contacted the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, but they don't seem to be in any particular hurry to do their stupid job help out. As such, I'm wondering if anyone out there is capable of helping out with this problem. In addition, I've found myself in need of a bit of help disposing of a few items of a less than savoury nature that the previous occupants left behind (and have me believing that they, the items, are why the previous occupants left without taking anything in the house).

If anyone can help or point me in the direction of someone who can help, I'd greatly appreciate that.

JESSUP
I need a cuddle
INFORMATION
JESSUP
Breed Dachshund mix
Age Approximately 3 years old
Size Lap sized!
Weight ~ 4 kilos
Coat Short hair, chocolate with lighter accents
Sex Male
ABOUT
Jessup has been with the rescue for almost a year, though I can’t tell why! He’s a cuddler who loves attention. I believe he grew up in the magical world – he’s just different enough that I can’t place him in the Muggle world. He was obviously taken care of once. He’s housebroken, playful, and a joy to be around. He knows several tricks and though he can be stubborn, he's very smart and learns well. He would love nothing more than to be your new best friend. If interested, please come down and give him a visit, even if it’s just for a few minutes!

Journal: what do I do?

[info]vanegirl

[Warded to Emma, Mari, & Astoria]

Ladies! Mum & Dad have asked to meet this "mysterious boy" I'm "dating". They've said they're fine with a casual meeting but it's FRANKLIN for Merlin's sake. I CANNOT INTRODUCE HIM TO MUMMY AND DADDY. He's nearly Daddy's age (and Mum is younger than him!)! And I've never "brought someone home". What do I do?

[VERY STRICTLY Warded to Emma & Mari]

NOT TO MENTION WHAT THE HELL DO I TELL THEM ABOUT HOW WE MET?! "Oh yes, I set him up with some of my escorts and he was so delightful..."

It seems if it isn't one thing it's another in the shop. First it was boggarts during inventory, now we have an infestation of doxies! There were so many and they were going quite wild trying to eat all the fabric that we had to call in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and the shop is closed all day.

Sorry if that means I have to reschedule an appointment. I think perhaps I need a drink.

Private to Rolf

Care to join me? I had a horrible day and I could use some positive energy. Or just, at least tell me about your life. I hope everything is well with you.

I just love the start of term when all the Hogwarts students come in for their robes. We don't have quite the rush that Malkins does, but it does keep us on our toes. I'd always wished when I was in school that I had robes like we offer-that change with a charm into cuter styles when not in class-and I figured out how to do it myself by 7th year, but it's satisfying to see so many girls excited to wear their robes.

Some days I miss Hogwarts; not MANY days, of course, but I've certainly been feeling some nostalgia lately.

I think I miss watching the Sorting most of all. What do you miss?

Private to Melinda

Hello, Ms. Bobbin. I know you're a good friend of Ms. Chang, and a very noteworthy pastry chef. I'm looking for someone for my upcoming wedding and I thought we could work together on what I would need. As the guest list is quite substantial, and we have quite a few requests, I apologize in advance that it will be very complicated, but as I have sampled your wares and can think of no one more talented, I know you can do the job. Would you be interested?

I hate to be judgmental about people's fashion choices (okay...I rather make my career being a bit of that...) but I would like to take a moment to explain to those who are trying to dress in muggle styles while not having much experience around muggles that:

1) While I applaud trying to mix prints, this is just...a disaster. The gold hat might work in Diagon, but no muggle would be caught dead in it, as far as I can tell. You won't be blending in so much as creating stares.
2) I don't even know what to say about this outfit, except that's NOT what a muggle suit looks like. PLEASE, if you really want to walk among muggles, try one of our robes-to-suits at Twilfit & Tattings rather than something like this. You'd be better off in robes!
3) Okay this might actually be something a muggle WOULD wear, but only one dead set on being alone forever. Please never put something like this on. Ever.

Just a little heads up from your friendly fashion guru. Look for my new column in Witch Weekly!
