'Tis the season of Shraadh. I'm looking forward to Mahalaya” and The Nine Divine Nights. Then Sharadotsav shortly after. So much shraadh, so little time. I've been lax for years now with Pitri Paksha, and I don't see that ending anytime soon, as the chasm with my father is still too wide. It's hard to honour the ancestors of a man who does not honour his daughters.


In non-religious news, all fall potions are 20% this week.

Full moons are liars; they are hardly ever 100% and they masquerade as the sun. In two days, the moon will be full around 1:38 AM. Before that moment, it will be a waxing gibbous - though many will look up at the sky as they go to bed and remark 'oh, full moon tonight'. I have a feeling werewolves are affected the entire night of a full moon, though I'm not sure; for them waxing and waning gibbous might affect them just as much.

I do know in many of the potions I do, the exact nature of the complete, non-lying full moon is incredibly important - sometimes it lasts for just a minute. After that moment, it will start slipping from the sky, gibbous to crescent to new. Only for those few moments will it be truly full. Potions created around the moon are still effective if they are not brewed exactly at the full moon; though they are most potent when brewed properly.

For any of you who need ladies moon potions, please let me know by the end of business on Tuesday, so I can start preparing once the moon starts to fade.
