[Warded to Millicent/Richard]

I went to see Helen today. Her brother and her niece are out of hospital now, and should make a full recovery. Helen admitted she hasn't been sleeping well. I've owled her some Dreamless Sleep (on us) and told her to take at least next week off too.

I think she might need more than that. She didn't say so, but what she's describing sound like panic attacks. I know muggle doctors have medicine that helps with those, but I don't know if the wizarding world has anything similar. I wish I could recommend a therapist, but it would have to be one that knows about our war and understands the impact of the London bombings on the muggle side.

[Public]

How would an adult long out of Hogwarts go about studying for and obtaining an apparition license? And, while I'm asking questions anyway, how easy is it to get a house in a muggle neighbourhood added to the floo network? Would that interfere with having electricity?

Cooking thoughts

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
I'm feeling adventurous, so I'm making chicken and cherry stew for dinner. If it's horrible, Susan and I will be at Finnigan's later.

Would having almond rice with it be too cherry bakewell? I can't quite decide.

[Warded to non-Slytherins]

I found out today that 'huffle' was Victorian slang for blowjob. It made me laugh quite a lot.

Flying

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
I feel like a kid just discovering climbing trees for the first time. In the last few weeks I've had my first taste of flying horses and my first real taste of flying brooms. I don't know which I liked better! I could probably afford both but I've only got time for lessons in one or the other, though. Can I get broom flying lessons anywhere other than Hogwarts, or should I go with the Smith family's flying horses?

Having to make this decision is several kinds of surreal!

If the weather is nice on Sunday, I thought I'd go watch some of the London Marathon at Canary Warf. Anyone want to come along?

Last Straw

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
I can't do this anymore! I ordered some ink from Scribbulus because ball-point keep tearing these journal pages and the owl arrived while I was at work. Right outside my window. My window which doesn't even open. I was on the phone! I couldn't just hang up so I could go get the stuff so the owl would leave me alone. And then when I finally did get down to the road, it wanted feeding or a letter back or something and it kept screeching and pecking at me. Thank god no one was outside, or else the Ministry would probably be asking me to turn in my wand.

I think Viv was relieved when I told her I needed to hand in my notice. I told her it was a health thing and she said I did seem stressed lately. They're even letting me leave at the end of the month, but God knows what I'm going to do about money. Maybe I can work in a shop - it can't be that different, and I'll be able to work out the exchange rate.

I don't know what Jenny's going to say.

Ministry of Magic

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
I can't believe this. The Ministry have finally gotten back to me about my hospital stay last month - and they're 'encouraging' me to 'reconsider my decision to live and work with muggles who are unaware of the wizarding world'. They say it's not a law, but if I can't control my magic it would be safer. Which is insane. I barely even do magic. It's not my fault I got sick!

What am I supposed to do, break my lease and move? To where? And what about work?

Hospital Blues

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
I made it to St Mungo's. They want to keep me here for a few days to make sure nothing else vanishes.

I'm pretty sure I heard someone mention the Ministry, too. Two of my fingers vanished while I was on the tube and this woman in the carriage started screaming.

Help!

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
Written early Sunday morning in very shaky handwriting.

My left leg is gone still there and I can feel it but I can't see it! I can't leave the house like this! and I don't know how to get to St Malkin's Mungo's! What do I do?

Fever?

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
Sitting here at work and I'm feeling extremely hot - especially my face. Hard to tell whether it's the office or just me. If it weren't for the fact that my sister came down with a nasty cold last week I wouldn't be thinking anything of it, but now I'm wondering whether I should throw in the towel and go home.

Raffle Prize

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
I had a great time helping out at the raffle! Thanks to everyone who bought tickets, I hope you all won someone or something you like. Obviously, I won the best possible date. Well, there were others that sounded good too - the hot air balloon and the archery and the zombie trail - but I'm really happy with mine. I've never been outside the UK before, I have no idea what to wear for dinner on the beach! Or for a tour of an underwater castle. How are we going to breathe? Should I wear a swimming costume?

Is there someone I can write to to have these questions answered, actually?

I'm still excited.

Shopping Emergency!

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
The charity I work for is hosting a function next week and I wasn't going to go because tickets are expensive, but one of the ladies who works on my floor has had to change her plans and so she's given me her ticket!

Now I need something to wear... Anyone up to facing the London crowds this weekend with me?

Lucy

[info]addingvalue
[info]finnigans_rpg
So, I suppose I should write something here, just to let anyone who might remember me know that I'm alive around. I've been to Finnigan's a few times now, it's been really good to see people again.

If anyone wants to arrange a specific time to catch up, let me know. I work nine til five, Monday to Friday, but I live in London so I can reach Diagon or Monument Alley relatively easily.
