Who: Kate, Cecilia, anyone who'd be in the ER and wants to jump in
When: Around 8-ish am
Where: The ER
What: Updating the missing member of Team Gets Shit Done, general checkups

Despite the late night she'd had and long days they'd been working, Kate was up fairly early the next morning. The blinking light on her computer caught her eye, and she sat down to read the message before doing anything else. As soon as she read the line about the sick housemates being moved, she was up and throwing on jeans, a tank top, and her plaid button down while she finished the rest of the message. She pondered the choice set before them with a frown as she brushed her teeth and ran a brush through her hair. For her, it wasn't much of a choice - home repairs were manageable. Treating a broken leg without any medical supplies was not. She could see arguments for each choice, but put the debate out of her head for the time being.

Once she was as ready as she was going to get, she touched base with Oliver and then stopped by the kitchen - she was betting there wasn't going to be food down in that hospital, and they'd gone two days without eating much, she was sure. If they were being treated, they'd probably want at least a little something solid. With that in mind, Kate packed a bag with crackers, bananas, applesauce, and bottles of water. After a second, she also threw in bread, peanut butter, and strawberry jelly, sliding in a stack of paper plates and plastic knives and spoons.

Checking her map one more time, Kate headed down to the hospital. She made good time, and was making her way into the ER soon enough. "Hello?" she called out, looking around for signs of a sickroom. "It's Kate; I come bearing gifts."

TIME UPDATE

Day 23.

Weather: The clouds have finally broken and it's a beautiful, crisp fall day.

Events: Ah yes, which level of fuckery shall we start on today? Because there are, in fact, multiples levels of fuckery. Anyone at all surprised by this should line up for a lobotomy, because there's clearly no hope for them.

First of all, Lennon, Jack, and Cecilia are missing from the house. This is slightly more remarkable considering they all had volunteers from the Pretend-Medical Team of Helplessless™ in their rooms around the clock. Any of these volunteers would have simply drifted to sleep at some point in the night (around 4), and when they wake at 7, their patients have disappeared. Beds are neatly made, everything is in its place. Except, you know, the patients.

In fact, everything is in its place. Absolutely everything. Because not only did the medical volunteers drift to sleep, everyone did. When people wake up, the house and grounds are in the exact same pristine conditions as they were on the first day of the experiment. To be sure, everyone did a really great job of putting things back in order. But there are still people in the house that are going to notice the difference. The lawn has been mowed, the hedges trimmed, and it's absolutely impossible to tell where any damage ever was. Everyone's rooms are back to the same pristine condition of their first day in the experiment as well. Things aren't just clean, they're hospital clean. The couch in the billiards room has even been replaced -- with an identical couch.

More on this will come later, but for now, just go ahead and take this as the ultimate 'fuck you.' You worked for two days on something we did in three hours. All your effort counted for shit. Et cetera, et cetera.

At about 7:30 in the morning (just long enough for people to panic about the lack of patients), everyone receives a message on their computers from TPTB.

Greetings.

We have seen what you are capable of, and are impressed. Most of you were willing and dedicated to the task given to you. You met our terms, and your infected companions have been moved to the hospital to receive necessary medical care. You may go to them as soon as you please.

Tomorrow, we are going to take a vote. We have seen what you can do, and you have seen what we are capable of. You must each answer a question. Which would you prefer? A fully stocked pharmacy, or to be free of responsibility for your surroundings? If you choose the latter, we will take over all clean-up and maintenance duties of the house. We will give every individual in the experiment the choice of whether or not we even clean their bedrooms and bathrooms for them. Anything broken or damaged will be replaced. All lawn care will be taken care of. If you chose the pharmacy, then you will be responsible for all of those things - and if we feel you are growing lazy, we may decide to punish you. You would be, in fact, choosing to step up as a responsible adult in exchange for a medical safety net.

Think on it. We will hold a vote tomorrow morning.

Oh, good. Probably an easy choice for most, but there's probably going to be a certain amount of temptation for at least a handful of subjects.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch at the hospital, the three patients are indeed being cared for. They may awaken at some point around 7 in the emergency department. The three of them are in hospital beds divided by privacy curtains, and each of them is on oxygen via a nasal cannula. They've also all got an IV in each arm - a modern IV, at that. The sort that doesn't leave a needle in the arm, but a safer cannula that flexes with the vein, and is worlds more comfortable. The IV on the left is administering fluids and electrolytes, the one on the right labeled, simply, 'antibiotics.' How helpful. They're all hooked up to heart monitors, and each will have a pulse oximeter on their left index fingers measuring their oxygen levels.

They're all going to feel worlds better already. Too weak to walk back to the house, but they're going to have a great deal of relief in all symptoms. The nausea's all but gone, appetites returned, and they'll be able to keep food and water down - though diarrhea still will be a problem if they overdo it. At least they'll be capable of making it to a bathroom on their own. As long as they stay in bed and on oxygen, their heart rates, blood pressure, and oxygen levels will remain normal. Walking around will slightly elevate heart rates and lower blood pressure, potentially causing lightheadedness, but it's nothing compared to the past two days. If any of them take their oxygen off, their oxygen levels will decrease to somewhere in the 86-92 range (95+ is considered normal), but again - still better than they have been. If the privacy curtains are pulled back, they'll see more IV bags on the nurse's station. There's enough there for each patient to stay on fluids and antibiotics for the next 24 hours. There are also several portable oxygen tanks. So, it's going to be a question for those back at the house if it's better to leave them there, or find a way to transport the patients and the supplies back to the house. Each patient is going to be pretty exhausted, and they may just want to sleep the day away - and who can blame them?

One last thing: though there is absolutely no explanation, members of Experiment B will discover today that they now have the option of rewinding feeds. They can now bring up footage from any point in the experiment - including before they were in the house.
