Day 17.Weather: The wind picks up a little, but it’s warm and pleasant.
Events: First matter of business, Ariel and Lana are both removed from the house today, and Beatrice and Kate are added. Their experience is the same as all recent additions: they wake up in a hospital gowns with IVs, clothing in a box, doors and windows locked until they’ve made use of the network. They will begin to come awake at 9 AM. Unfortunately for them both, they’ll probably be coming in to complete chaos. At 8 am, everyone else gets a message on their computer. There is absolutely no explanation, no greeting. It just launches right into the good stuff - and it becomes very quickly apparent what it is.
Everyone’s answers to yesterday’s survey have been made public. In addition to that little joy, at 9 AM Madison and Damon will both receive another message - the same message about Experiment B that Walt, Juliet, and Daphne received, and the requirement of placing an apple in their room before bed if they accept the position.
Oh, and one last thing. Last night several volunteer groups were formed to try and help out the new people. One of those groups took the task of putting messages on windows in empty rooms. If someone attempts that today, they’re going to find something special in Lana’s old room.
Initially, popping her window out of place is going to be difficult. The window will jam, and will take a bit of force to free. Once that happens, a hidden compartment in the molding of the window will spring open - and an old, spiral notebook will fall out. Most of the pages are loose, and will fly out the window with no hope of being recovered. Of the pages still left inside,
only two can be read - the rest are all badly waterstained. The question is, was this actually Lana’s, or was it planted by someone else?
