The battle was over, and the fight had been won. They were free from the Sorceress's tyranny once more. The Garden cheered for them all, but they looked up to Squall. He had become their hero, their saviour.

But he had always been her hero.

They stood together on the balcony. Her nerves were at an all time high, but she tried to appear calm. The last thing she wanted to do now was scare him off!




She pointed to the heavens, her lips tilted in that familiar smile he had learned to love. He leaned in, and they kissed.

Everyday was always the same. She even expected him to arrive. She had everything ready, surrounded by a covering that hid everything from view, but left nothing to the imagination. She would smile and step forward, and there it was; so beautiful, so delicious, just waiting for his eager hands.

“Oh baby, I’ve been looking forward to this all day,” he’d croon.

She’d giggle, and remind him that it was still morning.

But she knew, they all knew. His cravings were legendary.

Zell sank his teeth into the hotdog, and grinned. “Heavenly,” he told her, just like the morning before.

He preferred Hell. There was a different strength to the monsters there, one that helped hone his skills to perfection. He even chose Hell, rather than the Training Centre, to fight enough T-Rexs over and over for the Dragon Fangs needed to create the Lionheart. Call it foolhardy, but he liked the challenge.

She preferred Heaven, for no other reason than the name. It was sweeter, kinder, regardless of what lay in wait for a group such as theirs. The name suggested an innocence that hid the tough interior. Much like her, he mused. Her smiles hid a strong backbone.

Author's Notes: Perks of being the pilot

The scenery that they passed was gloriously breathtaking and from his vantage point in the cockpit, he didn't miss much: chocobos running around mountains - disappearing into forests when Garden got closer; cactaurs roaming the deserts and flocks of birds almost eye level.

Nida enjoyed zipping over vast ocean space while Xu would grip the railings and tell him that there was no reason to speed. It was a sense of flight that he'd never experience. To almost touch heavens for one world bound.

Despite Xu's white knuckled grip, he knew she enjoyed it, otherwise she wouldn't be smiling at him.

Is it an Island or a state of mind? Is it in a kiss, a look or a lover's scent? Or maybe it's getting a new pair of fight gloves broken in, in some monster's innards. I'm sure there are other mentions of what could be heaven-like but we'll leave that for behind the cut codes! Or maybe our minds are in the gutters and it's really a nice soft fluffy bed to sink into after a hard day - bad us! ^__^

Whatever the characters/muses feel is heaven, or maybe perceive heaven to be, write it up in 100 words.
