Another day in Cyber-Space

Who: Jaycen and Mustang Sally
Where: Cyberspace
When: Monday Evening, January 24

The instant she saw his name appear on her buddy-list a message was sent his way.

MustangSally: Sorry about the no email thing yesterday morning. Kind of got sidetracked with stuff the whole day.

Jaycen smiled when he saw the urgency with with his newest 'friend' seemed to greet him, and was quick to write back.

NotVoorhees: No problem. My heart's broken, my soul shattered... but it's ok. One day I shall heal. ;-)

He sat back in his desk-chair, smiling, as he reached over and turned on his stereo, putting on a CD Ben had given him to check out, of a band called Mist of Shadows.

She smirked at that and sent a quick response back.

MustangSally: I completely destroyed you. Makes a girl feel real good about herself. ;)

Hearing voices growing closer she wheeled her chair over to the door to close it to keep any intruders out and then rolled herself back over to the desk.

Laughing, he leaned back, letting the music flow through him as he typed back.

NotVoorhees: I knew it. You're a total sadist. How do I meet these kind of people???

MustangSally: By visiting those devil worshiping chat rooms your mother most likely warned you about?

Snickering, he shook his head and grabbed his cup of coffee, taking a few sips before typing back:

NotVoorhees: Obviously. I mean, clearly you're a terrible influence on me. I used to be pure and innocent, and you've brought me down to a level only an Afterschool Special could properly deal with.

MustangSally: Now why am I finding that hard to buy into. You being all pure and innocent until I came along and corrupted you.

He couldn't help but wonder if, in person, the two of them would have this fun, teasing banter.

NotVoorhees: I was as pure as the driven snow, thank you.

MustangSally: And now you're no longer Mr. Pure and Innocent. I think my job here is done and I can now move on to my next victim.

Well. Sure, they were just having fun here... but he was lonely, ok? He needed to ask this... and so... he finally built up the courage.

NotVoorhees: Before you 'move on'... any interest in meeting me face to face? Maybe... hang out at the mall or something?

She sighed reading that message. Hiding behind a computer screen gave her anonymity. She could be herself here without wearing the mask she normally did when out in public.

MustangSally: Why ruin the good thing we have going here?

Well. Unlike in person, he could bear his soul here... because if she rejected him, who would know? So... honesty it was.

NotVoorhees: Truthfully? I'm terribly lonely. I have no friends here at ALL. Just my sister, as pathetic as that sounds. And even SHE has other stuff to do now. And I actually feel like you understand me.

MustangSally: I don't know which is worse. Having no friends at all or having friends for superficial reasons.

She felt that he was the only person who understood her. By being a faceless entity she could be herself without suffering any repercussions from her peers. As lonely as she might truly be she didn't know if she was willing to risk everything for a face to face meeting.

Sighing, he was kind of taking this the wrong way. He typed again, before stopping to rub the bridge of his nose with a frustrated groan.

NotVoorhees: I... understand. I don't mean to force my problems on you, hun. Forgive me?

She sighed realizing from his reply that he was taking this all wrong.

MustangSally: I never felt you were forcing anything on me. I actually like talking to you. It's like you udnerstand me without any kind of pre-judgement.

He laughed when he read that, wondering how she'd feel if she knew WHY he didn't judge people.

NotVoorhees: Trust me... the things I've seen... I'll never judge anyone based on anything other than how they treat me.

MustangSally: Even if... I should be going. Same time tomorrow?

She didn't know why she verged on divulging her secret to him. It was one that she shared with no one, and was something only her father knew. And if ever got out she knew her life would be changed forever.

He couldn't help but feel like he'd said something wrong, that he'd somehow ruined the dynamic they had. Sighing, he typed back to her.

NotVoorhees: No problem. Hope to see you then.

She typed back a quick response.

MustangSally: I'll be here :)

She didn't want him thinking otherwise. Just because her mood took a sudden dive it was in no way an indicator that she was cutting him off. She had hopes that tomorrow they'd be able to chat with the same fun, teasing banter as was their norm.
