Paradiso

Hellooo everybody! So I was walking around to see what I could find today and I found some wheat growing not too far from here. I grabbed a whole bunch and brought it back, so. We have wheat. Yay!

I can probably make flour with it but it's going to take a really long time, unless I can maybe borrow the coffee grinder I saw someone had gotten? If not that's fine! I can try to grind it by hand, it'll just take a while. And then, since we have chickens now, we have eggs, and when we have eggs and flour, we have yummy things!

It just seems like tension is high so I was thinking about making a big cake for all of us as a little treat. I know I've seen strawberries and other berries around here that we can use to sweeten it, and we can probably get away with using coconut milk instead of regular milk, which will add more of a sweetness as well. I would need something to pour it in but I can bake it over an open fire, that's not a problem at all. If people are interested, I mean. If no one really thinks they want it I can just make little cakes and muffins instead for myself and a few others.

Right, so, apparently digging for twelve fucking hours will wear out even a werewolf's arms. Can't one of you genius types come up with some kind of machine for that? Damn.

Still, we made some progress although at this rate I don't see us getting anywhere very fast.

On my way back from the waterfall I found some strawberries growing. 'Fraid I can't get them dipped in chocolate the way you like but would you like me to bring some by?

I've decided Martha can't stay with me tonight because she sleeps like a starfish and she slapped me in the eye the other night in her sleep. So with that said, is there anyone who doesn't have a bed who would like to stay with me tonight? I don't mind sharing and there's no obligation in the vein of sexual favors or anything like that. I'm actually not interested in that at all tonight, it's not even sunset and I'm already beat. So just, I know not everyone has one and I feel selfish if I'm sleeping in it alone and I thought I would extend the offer out tonight.

I need to make friends who didn't grow up where I did. Like yesterday.

I started working on a side project a little while back and then I got sidetracked and kind of...stopped? I know it's not anything we need, but the meat is really gamey and I was taking salt water from the ocean and then evaporating the water to try to collect the salt for seasoning. Would anybody want to help me with that project? I feel like that's something I can do and not screw up but it'd go faster with more hands.

Or, to the contrary, is there anyone who thinks they've got a project I could be helpful with that would be higher up the chain of priorities? Because I'd be okay with that, too.

At first this weather was really bringing me down, but thunderstorms! I love thunderstorms.

So I just got back inside, but I know that a lot of people don't like getting wet. There were these really big banana leaves in the jungle and I grabbed a bunch of them off of the ground and put them in front of some of the shelters close to the center camp. I don't know who's shelters they are, but I thought that maybe everybody could use a makeshift umbrella until this passes over.

So I was wondering if you needed fabric? There are some of my clothes that I'm just not going to keep and if you needed something, they're all yours. I mean, not to wear. I know you won't wear them, I know you don't wear women's clothes, I just mean to use for other things like... sacks? Or something? Do you need a sack?

I'm going to ask this because I have a feeling that a lot of people are thinking it but no one is saying it.

It's warm. I mean, it's really warm, and I know that at some point it might get colder but right now that's not the case and we have limited clothing. We're all here to sleep with each other...

Why are we even wearing clothes instead of just saving them?

So, since I've run into a fair number of people who seem to be familiar with me, I feel like it's important to address this. When I accepted the invitation to participate in this project, I was assured by Arva that I would be in no danger of turning into a giant green rage monster while I'm here.

I believe that if I would like to access the Other Guy's strength, I can transition, but I have not yet tested that.

I understand both of you ladies are expecting already. I am a medical doctor and would be happy to assist in any way I can. I don't have a lot of experience with prenatal care, but I have delivered a number of babies over the years.

Deus, eu odeio computadores. I'm not very good with tech, so I'll keep this short. Hi, my name is Derek and I just got here. Arva said it would be safe and I don't really feel like playing any bullshit games, so right out of the gate: I'm a werewolf. No, I can't turn you and I wouldn't even if I could. No, I don't turn into a killing machine on the full moon. Yes, I can completely control myself. Yes, I can turn into an actual wolf, so if you're hunting and you see a big black wolf in the jungle, please do not shoot it; that hurts and I'd rather you didn't. I think that probably covers the werewolf FAQ?

What it also means is that I'm strong, fast, heal a hell of a lot faster than people do, have heightened senses, I can hunt for food, and I can transfer pain. What's that mean? You get hurt, I siphon out the pain; I heal a lot faster than you will and everybody's happy and safe.

Questions for me? I have a question for you...where's the main camp? Is there one established yet or no?

Okay, quick question, totally not a big deal, definitely not something to worry about, but quick question, kind of need an answer, you know, quickly, but not an emergency, because I'm totally fine.

How do you know if a snake is venomous? Again, not super important, not in a rush, just, you know, need an answer, not because I'm panicking, because I'm not panicking, I'm just asking, for reference, if you get bit by a snake, how do you know if you're going to die?

Okay so, I've seen people mention the thing about making clothes but do we know when that's going to happen? I don't want to rush anybody! I'm just wondering when that might happen because I've already sort of resorted to ripping clothes up to cover the most... important parts but that only gives me coverage for two or three days, tops. Fun fact everybody! Washing your clothes in a stream? Not the fresh jungle scent you'd expect.

And um, also... if someone might be able to show me how to build a shelter that would be great? Mine attacked me last night.

I'm so sorry, I'm already awful at this whole 'helpful part of the community' thing.

Everyone seems to be doing something of this sort and since I got here yesterday, it's probably overdue. I'm Dr. Raymond Palmer (only one person I know actually calls me Dr. Palmer, though, so I'd really prefer just Ray). I'm 34, I have three PhDs: Physics, Nanotechnology, and Engineering and Applied Sciences. I can't say I have a whole lot of survival skills as far as hunting, identifying plant life, etc. goes, but I imagine that sooner than later, we'll (hopefully) be given the resources to expand from a technological standpoint. Or, you know, if the gods would like to give me my suit, that could be helpful in more than a few ways, but for now, I don't have it.

In any case, I'll admit I'm not sure how useful fighting techniques would be, but I've got those and I'm willing to teach. I'm nowhere near as skilled as some other people I know, but for a beginner, I could probably be of good use. I'm also strong. Pretty strong. I guess strong is subjective, isn't it? And I'm always happy to help out with anything anyone needs. I'm no expert in a lot of things, but I pick things up pretty quickly in practice, so it might take me a little longer to build a shelter for someone than another, more skilled person could, but I'm pretty certain I could manage it after a few tries. In the meantime, if you find yourself having any issues with your bracelets, I'm happy to take a look and am fairly confident that I can fix them, even if I would prefer to have more specialized tools to do it.
