The Doctor was, in many ways, much more relaxed than he'd been in months. He was also stuck in one- with no one melting down demanding his immediate attention and he'd stopped freaking out over the fact the Master was newly regenerated and *not* melting down.

This meant he was bored. He very much looking for someone to chat up. Well. Not *chat up*. Somoen different and interesting to talk to. He beamed at the next person he saw - "Hello!"

Donna was, mostly, cranky, pouring back Bahama Mamas like water, collecting the little umbrellas in a corner.

The Doctor sauntered down a side-street lined with market stalls. He bent over one stall selling fudge and chocolate. He was rather partial to fudge. He picked out a big box, opened it and popped two pieces in his mouth.

Then he stepped back, intending to move on to the next stall, only to find there was someone right behind him. They met with a big bump. "Ooop! Sorry!" the Doctor mumbled, though his mouthful of fudge, turning to see who it was.

The Rani was bored, there were only so many planets you could enslave before it began to get boring. She's spent the last few hundred years doing just that before things had gone a little wrong and she'd not got away quite fast enough. Still only one regeneration in a little under 900 years was a very impressive record for a Time Lady.

Things had been different since the regeneration though, while she still loved her science it didn't fill her life quite as much as it once had, and for the firts time ever she found herself missing Gallifrey, something she was barely able to admit to herself. However being the kind of woman she was she wasn't going to dwell on that, the place was dead, and all those stuffy Time Lords dead with it, it was good thing, it made her special, unique. Well that was what she was telling herself at least.

It was time for a little adventure, she decided and thus she did something she'd never done in her long life before- closed her eyes and programmed in a set of co-ordinates completely at random. Who knew, perhaps she'd find something that would finally excite her again.

With the Tardis landed she stepped outside and looked up at hotel in front of her. "I had better not be on Earth," she muttered, frowning to herself, it was such a dull place after all.

She'd gone home; simple as walking through a door, she'd gone back home. It was like she'd never been gone. She ate her breakfast, went to work, watched the news...nothing had changed. Three weeks of that, there was, simple as shopping and telly and coffee.

Then she walked through her front door and back she was to this place. She sighed and headed to the pub because honestly, best place for it. She ordered a fruity drink with an umbrella and pulled a trashy novel out of her purse, settling back to read it.

This place was insane.

On the other hand, it had drinks with those little umbrellas in it and crosswords, "What's a seven letter word for a 'fortification built in boats '?" She asked out loud.

Toshiko was still in a state of shock. Jack had died, Jack had almost really died, he'd laid on that slab cold and white and motionless for days. And then he hadn't. Died. They'd hugged and she'd been able to reassure herself that he was real. That he was really alive.

And just when she thought things were settling down, he disappeared. The temporary calm and happiness that they'd all just started to accept disappeared with him.

Toshiko was at her station, CCTV links on every screen she could see, but there was no Jack. She rubbed at her eyes and stood to get more coffee. As she opened the door to the front room, there was a glow. Tosh blinked, raised her arm to try to block the light. The Rift? Who had opened it again!? When she could see again, everything was different.

"Hello?" she called.
