John and Romana - finished

Continued from here and here.

Jack unlocked the door of the TARDIS and pushed it open, more relieved than he'd have liked to admit to see the Doctor and Romana in the console room.

He crossed to the Doctor without a word and just gathered him into a strong hug. Then eventually he let him go enough to look him over. "You all right?" he asked in a low voice.

After a moment's surprise, the Doctor hugged him back, but there wasn't much strength in his arms. "I'm fine," he told Jack, with as much of a smile as he could muster.

Then he looked over Jack's shoulder. "Hello John," he said, surprised again.

The Doctor wandered out towards the center of town. Cut for Spoilers for 4x13 )
He tapped the rhythm of the drums on his thigh as he walked, trying to recreate that beat.

Theta located a long coat. He tugged at the sleeve, then, in a gesture he was really, far too old for, held up both of his arms to be picked up. He looked, and was, tired and clingy.

The Doctor was, in an uncharacteristic gesture, not wearing any clothes.

At all.

He was, however, soaking wet, stomping his way into the hotel lobby.

The Master put a pile of clothing on the table- a leather jacket, a green jumper, and a pair of black jeans, and boots, then relaxed back in his chair and ordered a cup of tea.

Looking smug, and, perhaps, just a bit childish.

Rose was human and not psychically sensitive. She also hadn't gone looking for her TARDIS-mates, content with her own company for the day.

She was sitting licking an ice cream cone in the park, and didn't know a damn thing.

Mel's Master

The Doctor was. Unsettled. There was something distinctly new and unfamiliar about the Master's latest incarnation, and even Jack had seen it.

He went looking for someone old and familiar. Sat down in the chair next to the Master of about seven centuries ago, who was reading in a corner of the library, and said, "I owe you a game of chess."
