Open for character reactions

Jack pinned the big piece of paper with his survey chart on up on the notice board in the lobby of the hotel, stuck a couple of marker pens in the tray at the bottom, and stood back to make sure everything was there.

The Survey – cut for length )

It all seemed to be there. Jack nodded, and went off to the TARDIS to get some sleep.

Jack really wasn't having a great day.

Since getting back, he'd encountered two versions of himself. One an updated version of Brant who he still very definitely was in love with, in a slightly wary and confused way, and the other a past he really wished he didn't think he'd been like.

Rooftops were out, since that just raised the probability of running into another version of himself.

Drinking was out. Period.

So he headed out through the lobby of the hotel, determined to find somewhere he could simply re-adjust.

Except that he very nearly ran into someone on his way out, hands rising automatically to catch them, steadying himself at the same time. "Damn. Sorry. Are you okay?"

"I'll just be a minute," Buffy called over her shoulder to Spike as she fled through the crowds in the Bronze, heading for the Ladies. She was starting to react to the fact that she'd just been kissing Spike - again - and she needed a moment. Possibly several moments.

She was through the door and leaning back against it before she realised that she wasn't in the Ladies.

She was standing in the corridor of a hotel she'd stayed in once, long ago. Three years ago.

She tipped her head back against the door and raised her eyes to the ceiling. "Perfect. Just perfect."

After Nancy had gotten her icecream with Theta, she left him to go and finish it in what seemed to be a well tended park. She sat down on a bench, swinging her legs over the edge, toes not quite reaching the floor. She felt more girlish than she had done in years.

Her worry about Jamie had abated a little. If what what Theta had said was true, then he wouldn't miss her at all, and he was quite safe. She was missing him like crazy though. She still really wanted to find the Doctor as soon as possible. He'd know what to do for the best.

This place was extremely strange, but an awful lot prettier than wartime London. She was determined to try to enjoy the change if she could. She leant her head back, basking in the sunlight, not noticing as a figure approached.

Lis' Doctor - finished

Jack had been back to the TARDIS and finally found the Doctor there at the same time. They'd talked and cleared up a few misunderstandings and then done a few other things...

And in the morning, Jack had kissed the Doctor good-bye and headed out. He picked up a cup of coffee and a box of donuts and settled with them on the grass in the park and sat there, happily munching.
