Anyone not Rose

The Doctor peered out of the hotel room he'd claimed, stepping out a moment later, heading for the end of the corridor with a slightly digruntled expression on his face a moment. He'd almost hoped he'd open the door, and step back into the Hub, but... Oh, well, the universe hadn't done something nice for him since the Time War - at least - and he really didn't expect it to start now. Though, at least he hadn't run into Rose since that conversation yesterday.

If he was honest with himself, which he had no intention of being right now, he was trying to avoid running into Rose again. Or, for that matter, anyone else he even vaguely knew. He really didn't want to deal with any of them right now. Either angry at him, or dead, or just plain insane in his own world, the difference between what he knew, and the people he met here was... unsettling, a little. A lot, in some cases.

He paused, peering around the corner, and then stepping quickly to the rail of the stairs, looking down them to see if there was anyone on them. Well, before he looked up. And so didn't spot someone coming down quickly enough to hide. "Oh. Hello." He gave the person a sheepish grin, stepping back from the railing, and shoving his hands into the pockets of his leather coat.

He was restless. He was used to being confined to a fairly small area, with a limited population, but he'd been geared up to go somewhere - finally. Jack was fantastic and he was having a good time meeting and talking to people, to be sure, but this morning he was at loose ends.

He took a cup of coffee from one of the server androids, found out where it was meant to be going and took it over himself. "Hey," he said, with a quick, sweet grin as he offered the person their coffee. "Mind some human company?"

He slipped, skidded, and fell off the low roof with a dull thud. He landed flat on his back, looking straight up into the strange sky. When the light was blotted out by a shadow, he managed a rather breathless, "I meant to do that."

He was lying through his teeth, but there was no way in the world he was going to admit that he'd been so surprised by a large bird that he startled right off the edge of the shop's roof. No way in hell.

Not until he could breathe, anyway.

He wanted a burger.

With chili, cheese, onion, pickles, tomato, ketchup and extra mayo. That wasn't the surprising part. What was surprising was that he'd been able to find it - one of the little side streets. Jack didn't know what the place usually served, but today they were serving what he wanted. He wasn't even going to question what it was doing there, where the farm was or what his food was actually made of - or if it was going to kill him.

He'd probably been better off throwing up. He was almost certainly going to regret it, later.

For the moment he was outside on the grass, managing to eat a sandwich the size of his head without making a mess, and thinking that food was better than sex.

He hoped.

When someone on their way past slowed to a stop Jack looked up, sucked chili off his thumb and said, "Shut up."

He was too blissed out on B-12 to sound like he meant it, though.

He was soaking wet, as he walked into the dining room. Really dripping, all over the carpet.

The truly strange part was that he didn't seem to notice. He took a cup of tea and a chair, ignoring the 'squish' when he sat. He swiped a stream of water away from his nose to keep it dripping into his cup, and looked around. "Well. That was fun," he said, to no one in particular.

Ianto had found the Doctor and then gone and gotten a good night's sleep. He was awake and in a fresh suit the next morning, preparing coffee for the pot in the lobby before absently offering a fresh cup to the man next to him, "Good morning."

Lisa hadn't been able to go back to her world and the world here had Ianto. A Ianto that wasn't the one she knew. One that didn't know her and so, she'd found a door with a place that wasn't anything like home. It hadn't taken very long though before she got bored and ventured out back into the hotel or hub or whatever it was.

She got a cup of decent coffee and sat down to watch the people walking by.
