I talked to Arva and she's going to send me home so I can catch up with the rest of you. She said that I shouldn't be gone more than a week or two, so if I leave today, I'll be back in time for the babies to be born.

Can you guys please look after Malia while I'm gone?

This was a really exciting week, as the walls went up and it really started to look like a cabin. The walls are done, the loft and roof supports are in place, and next week the roof goes on. Thanks so much to Nick for all your help, especially with the really heavy, high stuff like the upper parts of the walls and the ridge pole and beam. Thanks for Bucky and Steve for taking a little time out from your awesome chicken coop to help, and of course thanks to my main man in all of this, Scott.

Looks like Christmas Monday is back!
We got some more construction materials; looks like insulation this time.

Thanks to the extra help from Steve and Bucky we finished pouring the concrete a little faster than I expected. So let's take Monday and Tuesday off to let it dry, and reconvene on Wednesday morning to start on the box sill, sub-floor, and fireplace/chimney.

Right, so, access to relatively high-tech communication aside... They weren't kidding about making something out of nothing. I suppose we all have the advantage of already knowing how to communicate using language instead of glyphs, and the most practical ways of creating fire. I do commend the locals for choosing a tropical locale, the climate is perfect... Mm. Yes, compared to northern California, this is something I could definitely get used to.

Unfortunately, I didn't bring my bikini. ... Or a pillow. Hm.

That said... What sort of population is already here? I've scrolled a little, but honestly, I'm still disoriented enough that I'd rather just have a conversation with another living, breathing human being about the state of things.

Log cabin progress- week 1
We're still working on the foundation. We got the holes dug and the molds in for the piers and footings, and we're working on the block wall.

Not much exciting to show you yet, but we are on schedule.

SCOTT
I know I said we would take at least one day off every weekend, but I have a special request for just this week. If we could work through the next three days I think we could finish the wall and be done pouring the concrete by end of day Monday. Then we can take two days off on Tuesday and Wednesday while the concrete sets. I just thought it makes more sense to wait until we can't do much anyway to take a day off.

I saw that Scott is back. Are you and he still...well, are you getting back together?

Yes! We now officially have sports equipment. I've got the sports balls for...let's see...soccer, volleyball, football, lacrosse (I also have two sticks, so now that we've got models, I bet it'll be easier to make more of them. I feel like it'd have been harder to just have at it by memory than it would to compare right in front of us when the only guy who's good at weaving has never even heard of lacrosse before here), baseball — also there's a bat and two gloves — and tennis (but no rackets, so that's...I don't know, I guess we can throw them against the walls of our shelters and catch them?). So yeah, if anybody wants to play after work today, just saying.

There's also Frisbees. I'm gonna teach you how to play and then we're going to get together a group to play Ultimate Frisbee and it's going to be awesome.

Yesterday Isaac suggested we make some hammocks for the new people, so that we would already have somewhere for them to sleep set up when they arrive. I'm working on that now, but I also wanted to put it out there again to the people who are already here: If you would like a hammock, just let me know and I will make you one.

I can also make baskets and mats, so let me know if you need any.

Tonight's the full moon. Anyone want to go for a run?

Anyone else notice how it rained and is raining everywhere BUT on the main camp today?

I have never been one for casual, random sex before, but I am starting to see the appeal. It is rather nice to simply be able to enjoy yourself without having to worry about commitment or emotions. And it also seems a rather nice way to get to know someone.

Just my observations. Have other people found the same?

Can everyone come to the main camp area and help cover our supplies? I'm pretty sure it's going to rain and I don't want to risk anything being ruined. We have plenty of tarps.

Looks like we're not going to get started on the building today. I don't like the way the air feels.
