Well, arriving soaked in a storm was... not the entrance I was hoping to make earlier.

But all in all? Probably not the worst I've ever done.

Right, so I went out this morning and set some traps in the woods. They're marked with wooden crosses, so try not to step on them? I figure that'll make hunting quite a bit easier. Check 'em in the morning, reset them, and we have the rest of the day to build or whatever else we need to do.

I think that it's safe to say that, by tonight, we will have functional access to electricity. Cisco, Barry, and I have been working to get the wind and solar resources working and I just thought the group may like an update; by tomorrow, we should be good to go to start construction on the medical facility. Do we have a lot and plan in place to get that started, out of curiosity?

This isn't quite what I had in mind, it's more beautiful. Anyone around? I feel like I stepped into some HD commercial. Also, wish I could have packed some things, all I have on me is some jewelry and a filofax. Which seem somehow useless now.

Who would be interested in having another bonfire this Saturday, but with a twist this time? Ray suggested we have some sort of cultural exchange. The idea is that people would take turns performing or sharing something from their home. Sing a song, teach a dance step, tell a story, that sort of thing. Whatever you want to share with the group.

Of course no one would have to participate in that part if they didn't want to, so don't worry if you have stage fright. No one's going to push you up in front of everyone if you don't want to go!

We thought it would be both entertaining and informative since we're not all from the same time and place.

So are people up for that?

Ladies... those of us who aren't planning to get pregnant right away are going to need to deal with menstruating in the jungle. Having lived in places with and without modern menstrual products, I'm going to be honest and tell you this is going to suck.

We can put together some makeshift pads from animal skins, but they won't have adhesive to keep them in place. We can also create tampons out of wool. I came across a meadow with some sheep and goats on the far side of the island and I have experience with sheep shearing.

Either way, we're without Midol and indoor plumbing. Also, speaking from experience, when you are menstruating, I would advise you to stay out of the jungle. Predatory animals will smell the blood and come looking for the source.

Have you made any progress on that smoke house? I was thinking of getting a hunting party together to see if we can take down a bear or two and it would be nice to be able to preserve some of that meat.

EDIT: You know, forget it. Apparently I'm supposed to know my own mind but only if it's the same as everyone else's.

Okay, haven't done one of these yet, but I'm going to keep it super short because I actually have an agenda in this post and, shockingly (I know, cuz it's me, but seriously though), it actually isn't to get laid. Not that I'd say no, that just isn't the goal.

I'm Cisco Ramon, twenty-six, mechanical engineer with a focus on specialized weapons. Building shelters, I can do if a little slowly. Other than that, it's pretty touch and go.

So. Now, that said, is anyone here speaking English as their second language? I haven't particularly noticed anyone struggling at all, but I'm asking because if you'd rather speak, hear, write, and read your own language without the language barrier holding you back from talking to others, I found a setting in the bracelet and I can make that happen for you. So just a heads up, thought you all might want to know that, just in case.

Anyone want to go for a morning swim? Maybe some yoga on the beach? I know I'm just two hands and a body to move and carry stuff here but maybe we could get a morning beach yoga going? I'm not an expert but I'm all about flexibility.

Anyway, I'm Quinn Fabray. I needed some extracurricular activities and this is what I decided on. Kind of a bad choice considering I lack severely in the survival department thing...unless you count high school and a teenage pregnancy Vocal Adrenaline. I am a fast learner and I'm pretty physically fit from my cheerleader days. I also kick butt at singing and dancing. Just saying.

So, let's get this party started.

I'm Cameron — Cam is fine — I'm 25 and I'm a law student. I don't know how to hunt, I think I went fishing like once when I was twelve, I have no idea how to build a shelter, and if I was in charge of picking berries, I'd probably end up poisoning the lot of us.

But.

I'm 6'5", I'm strong, I'm athletic, and I like to think I'm a decent looking dude. So...with that said, I can't really offer much by way of survival in exchange (which is embarrassing to admit, but there it is), but if anybody's interested...just throwin' that out there.

...this probably will work better for a cute girl than a fucking Sasquatch dude, but I figured it was worth a shot, since it worked for her.

At least sleeping on the ground was not nearly as horrible as I'd built it up to be in my head.

I commented on another post earlier, but to continue with introductions...hi, I'm Melissa. I don't have much to contribute in survival skills or strength. But I do have magic. Connected with nature, spell casting, elemental manipulation, etc. I heard there was a group of people looking for a place to build a camp to the west. I think I could contribute with plant life, and once some sort of layout is designed I could help with getting a garden going?
