Tragic and tortured, it was difficult for Erik to do anything but weep and pity himself and his existence. He had lost Christine! His beloved. She had left him, and he was now truly alone. Even his home was gone. How could he go on?

Knowing what he had to do, he made his way to the ruins of the Opera House. This would be his grave, he knew. A tear trickled down his cheek as he climbed a heap of rubble. He slipped, though, and fell. It seemed that he fell a little too long, and he appeared to have ended up in the lobby of... a hotel? And people could see him! He shielded his eyes from them.
