He turned the doorknob and opened the door to 709, expecting to see his recreation of his quarters at Hogwarts. Severus intended to do some reading without interruption but he stopped before he even entered.

A garish mess of a pink and purple mishmash was before his eyes. He blinked, not comprehending what he saw for a few seconds. Then things began to make sense, or would have made sense if he was going to someone else's room. None of the scattered clothes, nor colourful muggle books made any sense being in the room of Severus Snape. He scowled, about to turn away when motion caught his attention and he stared at someone moving around the room, looking momentarily amazed. Or as amazed as the man in black robes would ever look.

He looked in a dark mood as he strode to the desk in the lobby, his robes seeming to flap and move around him even more when he was angry or upset. The professor hit the bell angrily. His nearly black eyes glared at whatever they happened to look at while he waited.

Severus Snape had clearly stated "Malfoy Manor" when he tossed the floo powder but he definitely ended up in the wrong place. He despised flooing but Lucius had paid to make sure his passage from his office to the Manor would be always accessible and never monitored. Obviously something had gone wrong with this arrangement since he didn't even end up in a fireplace.

Wand in hand, the professor looked around the posh lobby where he arrived. He didn't care one wit to take in the details but rather, looked and listened for signs of friend -- or foe. No one seemed to be about, which might or might not be curious in itself.

He moved to the desk of what was probably a muggle hotel, judging by the electrical lights shining overhead. His demeanor seemed calm, if dour, when he rang the bell, striking it three times.
