Bella had told Damien she'd meet him bright and early, but it was still dark when she left the house and hopped into the back of a taxi. She gave the driver the address on the card her new Watcher had given her and then sat back against the seat. It had to be so early because she was due at the Sugar Shack by nine. This way, she and Damien could get in a few hours of training, then she could shower and go to work.

The first couple of days hadn't exactly been easy, but she liked to think she was getting better at it. She didn't end up wearing the coffee nearly as much now as she had a few days ago and she was getting a lot of pointers from some of the girls who worked there. At least it was a friendly place, although she couldn't imagine Chloe hiring anyone who didn't have…a certain type of people skills.

When the cab stopped, she told the driver to wait a second and got out to jog up to the door and ring the bell. Tapping her sneakered foot, she waited, dressed in a pair of Chloe's short black bike shorts and a black sports bra beneath a fitted white tank top. It was obvious she hadn't come dressed to impress.
