For historical purposes, here's a quick review: IJ went down for a week, and we temporarily relocated to DW for memes and crying. Here's links to all of the posts on DW, in case for some reason you need to find them again:

I want to thank all of the beautiful monsters in this comm for successfully getting our comment count up to date so we can actually use our damn comms. Marin is still trapped at work so she can't put up Quidditch yet, and Meggie made some ambitious promises last night regarding the plot calendar, so that's also on hold. However, we will be hustling to get those up by tomorrow morning at the absolute latest.

A couple of notes:

• Regarding February Activity Check (lmao i know): If you have not yet passed AC, you get a grace period of 24 hours starting now. Anything you post in the next day counts for activity. Anything you posted in the Emergency Grotto Party or the Single Working Page on DW counts for activity. If you do not check in for AC but I know you've been active, your characters will receive automatic activity strikes.


• Your mods would like opinions on a permanent move to Dreamwidth! I posted about the logistics, but if anyone has objections to this idea, please add to the discussion or post to our screened Dropbox, please and thank you. ♥


• Please accept the community invitations for all your character journals! We had to re-add everyone to get membership working properly again.

• Spring break will take place March 20-26th. We realize these dates are kind of wonky but hear us out: we need enough weekends for Quidditch games and I'm going to design some RNG drinking games for St. Patrick's Day. Drink your friends and loved ones under the table! ☘️


• The game against Ilvermorny will be March 12. Get ready! Closer to March 12th, we'll work out a way to see if we can get some siblings and friends of the cast onto the team to visit Gooseberry!


• Remember to sign up for the lottery! Anyone can sign up, sign up all your characters, and do it by the 20th! This event will have lasting consequences for your character, and will involve them receiving a special item. Your character must be willing to explore the Grotto alone. Sign up HERE!

Last announcements of the year!!!!! :O

• If you have not yet already done so, please post to December's Activity Check! (If you've resolved to drop a character, please do us a favour and let us know here or in the Dropbox so we're not awkwardly emailing you later to be like "hey... what's up...")


• January's plot calendar will be posted on Saturday, December 31 at 10 AM Mountain Time. (If you need help figuring out when that will be for you, take a look at the green indicator here.) We've learned our lesson from December, so there will be less IC/OOC's, but hopefully characters will be able to devote proper focus to the ones which are coming up. Three words: Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Over the last week, a few things have been established about how detention and mail work at school! Here's that information for everyone:

• Detention is served Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. It's not served on Fridays because Fridays are often irregular with monthly bonding. The staff is aware that some characters (cough cough Casper and Quinn cough) would probably rather serve detention than go to monthly bonding.
  
  Detention takes place for 1-2 hours after dinner. What it entails depends on the teacher that gave it to you. If it's a sweeping detention assignment, such as with sledding, you default to your Head of House as the teacher overseeing what you serve and how.


• Packages are magically screened when they arrive. There's a charm in place that detects alcohol, drugs, weapons, explosives, and other illegal materials. There is no way around this charm; it's exceptionally thorough. If the spell is set off, your character will be called into the lodge by their Head of House to open the package and see what caused the trouble. If it's something within the rules that just got caught in the wide net (cough medicine as alcohol, a new bow for Archery Club as a weapon), it'll pass. If it is contraband, it'll be returned to the sender. Kids will only get in trouble if it's blatantly obvious they're trying to sneak in contraband. Ms. Vector is harder than any of the others about this.
  
  Letters without anything but paper in them can be dropped off straight to the tables by owls and ravens a la Hogwarts.

Okay We still got a couple days until the next Grotto party. And it's been a minute since the last meme, but this game is like seventy percent journals, so there's a lot of character actions that get lost in translation but also are probably kinda super important.

SO we should have a Getting to know YOUR character meme. I don't know how to make the special text box within a box thing on our getting to know you meme, because apparently that was a question I forgot to ask during our html tutorial.

The questions are subject to change, because it doesn't matter. We don't go over apps that often after people join the game, so now is your time to gush about your characters so we as students attending the same school as your characters can know them as well as you do.

i know some of us have CDJs and i would love to add you all but i have also decided i'm too lazy to go through the player list and figure out who actually updates theirs. instead, if you have one and you use it semi-regularly (whatever. if you log in once a year?), post it in the comments and then i will go and add you. yay. others can do the same. that should be obvious.

unrelated: i realized this morning that quinn's baseball team of choice would def. be the toronto blue jays, and since she's in azurcrest, her gear can get twice the mileage. like, look:

i also had an earth-shattering realization about "camping school" in the shower last night (#showerthoughts) but i can't remember what it was and IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY.

• Speaking of October, the next plot calendar will be posted on September 29 at 11:59 PM MST. We have a BUSY MONTH ahead of us and I really need to finish coding it, sob. And of course, we still have one or two things left in September...!


• Mod Meggie would like you to know that you are all so cute and she loves you. Mod Marin agrees but is trying to maintain a veneer of professionalism here.


• SURPRISE EVENT: Today is Ask a Stupid Question Day! Mr. Merrill stood up during breakfast to announce that the teachers expect their students to ASK ALL THE STUPID QUESTIONS THEY WANT TODAY!!! (Some teachers laughed along with this surprise announcement, others were seen staring at Merrill with looks ranging from dread to imminent homicide.) Feel free to have your characters ask the NPCs (or you the player can just ask your mods) some "stupid questions" below, and we will try to answer them! :)
