Current State: FREAKING OUT. But Ulysses-drama aside ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ since the PTC she's been ~seriously considering~ whether to stay at Gooseberry another year (or two!), which may have made her a little distracted at times.
Looking For: A BOYFRIEND!!! Okay but seriously, Pippa is a very hormonal fifteen year old girl whose emotions are all over the place. I want her to have overblown crushes that last five minutes. She also needs to practice flirting awkwardly with ALL THE BOYS. Alsoooo there's a masquerade coming up, JUST SAYING.

Current State: Ana is on CLOUD NINE. She just made the Gooseberry team, which she's SO HYPE for. However, Ulysses has just gone missing, so she's trying not to walk around bouncing and upbeat, since she is also worried about him. (Did they really cause this with their seance?!)
Looking For: I'm gonna piggyback off Josie with the BOYFRIEND thing. Hear me out. She's learning to have friends in addition to her Quidditch. She's learning to let people in and that they can see she's wonderful without her being prickly or good at Quidditch. She has an unrequited crush BAD on one of her friends, and needs a distraction. She is a 15 year old who's enjoyed kissing games at parties and wants to have fun. A DANCE IS COMING UP AND SHE'S NEVER HAD A DATE TO ONE. So yeah. It's the next thing on her list :D

Current State: She's a bit melancholy after the ptc's ended, but otherwise her normal self. This whole business with Uly is upsetting, and she wants to help, but otherwise she doesn't have a lot going on.
Looking For: ALL OF THE THINGS. I want to get her involved more, so. She had fun with Olivia at the winter ball, so she's kinda been thinking about her, but all flirting is welcome. If the mean crew wants to target her, that'd be fun. Or try and manipulate her back into their ranks lol Whatever you think/want I'm down for! She needs more!

Current State: She's a little cheerier than usual, actually? She's decided to pursue staying at Gooseberry for the next year instead of going back to Hogwarts, she's more intense than usual about her animagus studies because she STILL hasn't changed and this is seriously not okay to her perfectionist self, but is mostly still self-involved and wrapped up in her own little world. Even the weird events haven't really fazed her yet, and haven't piqued her interest beyond anything in passing just yet. BUT I MEAN, that could change. In general I see her jumping into things more because she feels a little more connected to the school now that she's decided to stay, but she's still just kind of her vaguely strange disengaged self.
Looking For: See this is where I fail, because just generally anything. She's going to start actually paying attention to more than just her own little bubble, but may need the push, since she doesn't really have a lot of friends established or groups or anything.

THE KEY TO QUINN THIS WEEK: She seems very high strung, even when she's doing something that's supposed to be fun. Angst week!
Anonymous post-induced worries!!!
(1) The Grotto! How does Anon know it's her happy place? What would have happened if she'd gone out there when Anon suggested? (Probably nothing, but still.) She's on edge about this.
(2) Her future! She'd never before articulated her anxieties about failing in and/or hating Healer training. She's REBELLING by trying to do more non-career stuff (school Quid, extra dance practice) while still working the same number of hours to compensate. So any hangouts this week happen during mealtimes, and she reviews her notes at the same time. She's so fun right now, guys. She left herself no free time.
(3) Ty! She's realized she has a crush! That's not good! (This is really only relevant for Katie.) After Monday's spooky encounters when she sought Ty for comfort, she ghosted into a "oh no sry I'm very busy" bubble.
Team Gooseberry! She's pumped to practise with you people! But she will only ever call it "practise" or "watching them play." This is how she deals with #reservelife. If ONE MORE PERSON talks about being benched as the end of the world, she's smacking you upside the head.
THE ACCESSIBILITY RAMP! She would have tried to get Cecil and Etta to go see Merrill with her this week but Quayle Quest 2014 got in the way. Next week!!!
She's still shit-talking Coppertale like NOBODY'S BUSINESS! Not like the anon criticisms, though. In person they're less targeted or specific, and delivered more like jokes that have gone too far.
... Also she hasn't been single on Valentine's Day in a couple of years and she's probably going to do a lot of eye-rolling when people mention the day. Like, "I'm so over Valentine's Day, oh my god, it's pointless, whatever." but really she's just kind of sad about it and not letting herself admit to it. :(
& she's obviously worried about finding Ulysses and doing all she can to help. Like... nearly everybody else.

Looking For: I AM ALWAYS OPEN FOR PLOTS! I also have this one that I've been playing with but I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how to go about it, so I would love some help/input/etc.! I'll post it as a separate reply to this comment because this is already plenty long enough. Tl;dr: Quinn's too stressed out to handle her own shit, shouts at someone, realizes she's got to get on the train to Chillsville.

Current State: Pretty tense about the upcoming Quidditch game! Winning two games in a row doesn't really count as a ~streak~ but it adds extra pressure, plus it would be hard to lose to Coppertale. :( Outwardly Etta is like "eh whatever" over being a reserve for Team Gooseberry, but it might bother her more once practices start and she's not in charge. Or when she has to watch the Ilvermorny game from the sidelines. But being Etta she'll just distract herself rather than stew.
Looking For: Distractions, wink wink. Also!!! GALS for a GALENTINE'S DAY PARTY on the 13th. I'm going to do a post about this after the Ulysses drama calms down a little~
Anything Else: She's trying to ~hone~ her cheetah senses after her attempt to track Virgil failed.

Unlucky in Love: AKA Ravi and Diego Drag This Thing Out Forever. Diego's still suffering over being rejected by Ravi, and he's lonely and sad and wallowing in it because what else can he do??? If Ravi hasn't come around before the Grotto party, he's going to do more stupid shit.

He's basically over Cecil. He's coped with this by shifting Cecil over into the sibling love category. Please don't think too hard about how Diego once wanted to make out with a guy he now thinks of as a brother. Excessive hugs and hand holding are back on the table.

Trying to be good... ish. He's made a promise to only set himself on fire when he's unlikely to catch adjoining humans ablaze as well.

Threesome what??? Diego has no idea how to process the implication that two girls might want a threesome with him. (And he'd still pick you over a threesome with two amazingly hot girls, Ravi. So, like, congratulations.)

Worried About the Quayles. Cricket was very kind to him when he was suffering once, and he wishes he could do the same for her but he's floundering a little about what to do. He probably went and did some searching and obviously turned up a whole lot of nothing.

Thinks Everyone Dislikes Him and He's Very Annoying. This is the background noise of his life, but the anon post kind of brought it to the forefront. He's trying, once again, to not act weird and burdensome. The only people who probably get to see him unravelling right now are Cecil and Mina.

Once he's dating Ravi he's going to go through a Having A Boyfriend Has Fixed All My Problems!!! phase that will obviously not last forever because even nearly literal Prince Charming can't save you from all your emotional baggage and anxiety.

Looking For:

Anyone want to make Ravi jealous??? No guarantees on this actually happening, but if Ravi hasn't been wooed by Diego's melodrama and sad puppydog eyes, he's going to be living free and throwing himself at people. Aaaand maybe seeing if Ravi cares at all if he makes out with someone in front of him. ANY TAKERS?!?

WHATEVER ELSE. I'm open to any ideas you have, especially if anyone wants to reignite a neglected friendship with Diego. I've been busy so he's less accessible than he should be. :(((

Extracurriculars: Archery and Boating.
Current State: Katya has gotten a lot better over the last few weeks and is seriously trying to make things better for herself and people around her. The horrible depression has cleared up to the point where she doesn't feel like drowning and she's doing her best to not drink as much as she was. Basically, Katya is doing better finally. She's also doing her best to be a better friend and Prefect these days. At least trying.
Looking For: Friends mostly. Katya is still hurting over her break up with Casper so boys are kind of the worst right now.
Anything Else: What do you have? She's totally up for whatever you want to throw at her. Also she has way too much money, let her buy someone stuff.

SEEKER!!! Reid gets to be a Seeker again and he's so happy you guys. :( He's actually pretty emotional about it? Which really just means he's super flustered and anyone who congratulated was rewarded by him looking like he wanted to crawl under a rock. HE'S HAPPY. SO HAPPY.

Playing Seeker against Azurcrest!!! Etta makes him nervous. He's afraid if he can't perform in a game, he didn't deserve to get a second chance. He doesn't want to make Sy regret giving him Seeker back, and doesn't want to let down the team.

Swan!!!! Reid is going to be a swan! Maybe soon? He's so happy right now, rather than constant low level frustrated, so this might be what helps him have that BREAKTHROUGH. Reid's a whiz kid at Transfiguration but anything that involves the self (... or essays) has him in trouble.
- I still don't know the specifics of how/when he'll transform and who will be there for it. Maybe one morning, Sy will just open the curtains and there's a big swan there.

I think Reid might be out and out aromantic. Maybe. He kind of thinks he has/had a thing for Sy, but there's a very good chance it's just intense friend feelings + desperation to be more "normal". Sorry to like everyone who tries to make a move on him, he's the dating sim love interest that you can only romance on your second playthrough if you know the secret and it's obscenely hard and god was it really even worth it.

Looking For: UGH I DON'T KNOW. I've been playing him a lot more and enjoying it so that's good. I want to keep pushing for him to have more friends and stuff.
Anything Else: I DREAD THIS MEME EVERY MONTH I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH IT.

Current State: Softly dying, trapped in a cycle where she resents being forced to make definitive choices about her future by her mother and thusly attempts to Do It All but also Cannot Do It All because life is about Choices and One Must Choose but how can she and SHOULD SHE HAVE TO and why but Mustn't She blah blah blah.

She's still relatively calm at this point, but is starting to fray at the edges. In the next few weeks she'll probably have to start making choices about what she can and can't reasonably achieve before graduation, including an Actual Decision about her senior project/accepting possible offers for jobs & apprenticeships, etc. Either way, it's a horrible spiral! Yay! Some things will grow, and some things will DIE TO FUEL THAT GROWTH. \m/ She will lose a lot of chill.

Looking For: Ummm anything really! Her interactions with other people will likely guide the path she goes down, obviously, so. We'll see. I'm honestly down for any fucking random idea, no matter how fucking random. Z has spoken wistfully to anon about running away or going on a forever road trip or absolutely abandoning her life, so if anyone's up for totally Burning Everything Down with her, I'd be happy to go down that route! The high of getting recognized at the talent show is only just starting to wear off, and that + PTC has given her the smallest nudge toward starting to make plans for after school. Finally.

Ulysses stuff is bothering her immensely for obvious reasons, but also because she feels... weirdly let down by anon, and confused about what it means that she was so adamant about there being nothing to fear/no danger and now this is super happening (ie can she trust her own sunny lil brain? is everything just a construct to avoid reality and serious issues)? She also took that last exchange with Wes, realizing that she hadn't even noticed that something awful had happened to him, and Buried It Deep Within to Emerge as Various Weirdness. So. This is being worked through via dance, heavy doses of denial and dreaminess, and probably some issues with clinginess/throwing herself at people. Look out, world!

Looking For: More dating experiences, some kind of art or reading group (Feminist Book Cluuub?) to help her branch out, etc. Really anything. Laurel is consistently all over the place and could use some grounding, but maybe also even more all over the placeness. I would also like her to champion more against the Mean Girls in the future. She had a really good PTC, and it made it easier for her to start the new semester with a clean slate. She's continuing to try to take care of people who are probably perfectly capable of doing so themselves, but that will never change.

Speaking of her latest Worry Victim. The Anonymous Writer telling her that she reminds it of Mr. Elmasry, its friend has set off many bells that will only get worse now that there's been actually a kidnapping. I don't know if she'll do more digging first or just devise a plot to check and make triple sure he's okay, but if you get Addy trying to protect a teacher in the dropbox...sorry, mods.

Looking For: I don't knooow. Addy is social, but she coasts a lot and doesn't have a ton of conflicts. Which is sad because she's fun in conflict. Continuing themes of angst and frustration re: status quo. Right now he's a complete mess about Ulysses, obviously, but usually he verges between kind of pushing himself through the day/forcing himself to interact and bizarre mood swings + performative bullshit that isolates him from other people. Yay!

He's very upset about not making Team Gooseberry, even though a part of him understood that there's no way he could have. It's very much a "why won't what I love love me back" kind of thing, and it'll take him a while to get over the way it makes him feel. Which is inferior. Which is not something he takes well to.

Quietly suffering through "doomed" crushes, the most prominent of which will probably lead to some embarrassing behavior through most of February.

Lots of skating and deliberately busting himself up. ANYTHING IS A SKATE PARK IF YOU TRY HARD ENOUGH

I don't know. I see a stormy few weeks ahead. >:)

Looking For: Others who would be interested in starting a Garden Club/hanging out in the gardens learning about plants with him. I'm serious. At Ilvermorny Wilde took over a garden his brother had planted (THOMAS IS THE WORST), and it was actually extremely soothing/good for him in a therapeutic way (to the point where he got super invested/knowledgable, leading to admission into Gooseberry). He's going to fall back on this soon as a means of dealing with his many feels.

CAMPS is a success so far??? GOOD JOB EVERYONE??? Having a common goal with all these sophomores has really helped him to feel more secure and let down his guard a little more.
- He's going to be staying out of Coralee's way for a little, but is maintaining his Be A Pain in Event Committee heading when he can. In part because he wants to strategically maintain tension, and in part because he's stupidly proud and won't let Coralee think he's been intimidated. >:(

Crush on Cole. OOPS. Yep. He's got a lot of excuses about why now's not the right time to tell him, chief amongst which is competing with Coralee for Cole's romantic attentions. But I mean if you press him, he could probably go on for hours making up reasons why his cowardice is super justified. Regardless, Cole gives him serious butterflies at this point. Angry little butterflies.

He's an interesting mix of cowardly and irrationally brave. So he's tagging along for the sophomore investigations even though he's scared because he's concerned about everyone getting killed by an evil whatever. But it's like, come on, Calvin, what are you going to do to protect your friends from this thing? (He doesn't know. He's gonna try anyway.)

Current State: I mean today specifically he is REALLY worried about Ulysses/ is combing as much of the forest as he can get away with and will be doing so well into the night. But before and after today he will not be doing that.

He's so tired lately, which I SUPPOSE MAKES SENSE since he's doing literally everything. He's had a few brushes of senioritis in which he just wants school to rush ahead the next few months so he can go be an Auror already. But he doesn't have a guarantee on that, so he'll stick it out. He's SO HAPPY that he made the house Quidditch team, because Quidditch now more than ever has become a release.

But he's well aware that it also means more work, lots of it, and less time for the rest of everything that he's doing. And omg he was already so busy. He probably looks more drawn lately. But it's okay. He will keep all these balls in the air if it kills him (it might kill him.) It really helps that Rafael is around. He feels guilty because he knows he's really stressed/worried too. But he's really happy in his relationship right now ultimately so that's good. He knows he's still way out of his league but he can ignore that. Or suppress it. FOR NOW.

Speaking of, I should also really do a letter exchange with his dad post PTC because his dad still didn't love Leo changing for his fancy school, and that'll be a fun conversation. He might even talk to people about it -gasp-.

And it will be pretty interesting to see how the Kidnapping affects how much more protective he gets of his team. Can that even GO up? Stay tuned. He's also 100% against Anon and will probably try to arrest it by the time the year is over. Also stay tuned.

Current State: Okay so, things are going super good for Chris.

1.) He's got a girlfriend that he kinda sorta really likes, and literally nothing has to change, they can just keep being assholes toward each other

2.) Quidditch. He's feeling a lot of pressure and stress because Coppertale is a perpetual fail. But now he's tried out for Team Gooseberry and not only actually made it, but made it as captain???? Did anybody actually think this was a good idea??????

3.) His senior project is going right on track, his grades are good.

4.) Since he started dating Rosy, he hasn't actually needed to rely on his rock, even when he expected to. Which is GREAT, but he's also low key concerned about knowing that as soon as he leaves school his rock will no longer work, and he's not sure he's ready to let go of the easy reassurance right at his finger tips, but he's obviously totally gonna need to because you can't just stay here forever, and who the fuck would even want to.

5.) The only shit that isn't awesome right now is that shit is really tense in the cabin. Which low key bothers him. Apparently according to the anonymous post, a couple people - not counting Wilde because he doesn't count - are under the impression that Chris is a bully. And they're not entirely wrong. But things have escalated between Chris (and Robin), Rafael and Wes, and that's left things super tense in the cabin. At this point Chris doesn't speak to Ramirez unless he has to, but there's a tension to the silence.

6.) Since the Gooseberry team is a privilege and a really freaking important privilege, Chris is taking it more seriously than he does most things and has vowed (and told his new team to vow) to not break any extreme rules. Nervous! She's still trying to find her place here in Gooseberry. It's only been a few months and she hasn't gone out and done much stuff. She's SUPER thankful for Ivy & Laurel being her friend, but she needs to branch out and meet more people.

+ DEPRESSED. Penny has gone from being just your average anti-social bitch to being downright sad. The difference is probably really noticeable.
+ She lost out on Ryan (And Z) and it's ruined her self confidence and attempts at being "open."
+ She thinks Chris played her like a fool and is back to hating him to pieces.
+ She has crushes on Diego and Etta, but is too afraid to really say anything to either of them.
+ PTC did not go well. Her fam is disappoint, as usual.
+ The Team Gooseberry try outs meant the freaking WORLD to her and she BLEW IT and she is SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY NOT DEALING WELL with it.
+ She has developed weird new friendships with Isaiah and Wilde, which I find hilarious.
