MEME: Dog Breeds

My favourite game to play at the bar is "What breed of dog would you be?" where I determine what breed of dog my friends would be based on my comprehensive and pointless knowledge of everything canine. Real people are not enough and I'm mad with power, so I want to do this for your characters! And, like, other people can also give input. I guess.

Yes, this meme is completely self-indulgent.

To those he does befriend he's caring and fiercely loyal, as well as playful and affectionate. Independence: Kurt is not exactly an emotionally needy person. The closer he is to you, either the bigger he asshole he is to you, or the gentler he is to you. It really kinda just depends on how much of an asshole that specific friend is. He's also an asshole to strangers, though, so it's a little weird and confusing. He doesn't have a large group of friends. But apparently he has some friends. Independence: Chris is stoic. Unless he's drunk. Loyalty: Dude is ride or die New Situations: Chris throws himself into any and all new situations, unless he thinks they're dumb. But he did challenge Rosy to a race climbing trees in heels so.... Energy/Play: He's selectively hyper. He's hyper if there's something dangerous or sporty or naked going on. Or a challenge. And when he's in a playful mood, he's still a bit of an asshole, but a smiling asshole, who will nag you until you just give in and entertain him. Fears: I regret this meme. She tends to try and be in control of situations, and tends to treat people who she thinks need protecting like children. So she doesn't really have a big group of actual friends because either she treats you like a kid or she's kind of a dick to you and sometimes it's just not worth the effort. Independence: Rosy is mostly of the NO I DO NOT NEED HELP, I CAN DO IT MY OWN DAMN SELF school of thought. But also I could not in good conscience call her dependent when she and Sy are tied together. Like an anchor to another anchor. Loyalty: Selectively devoted, and super protective of those that she's devoted to. New Situations: Guarded, pessimistic, fairly cautious. She tries to act like she doesn't need help and find her own damn way through this new mess or potential mess. Energy/Play: Rosy can generally hang out and be chill and read a book or do her homework, she doesn't have a lot of pent up energy, but she has a lot of endurance. If she's feeling froggy she's mostly just kind of a dick. She might punch people a lot. Like playfully punch but sometimes she might punch too hard. Playfully give you a bruise. Fears: Literally: Losing her brothers. More abstractly: showing weakness. She mostly responds by trying to be in control of a situation, but when that doesn't work or isn't an option, she gets angry and/or violent. THAT IS ALWAYS AN OPTION. Environment: You should make sure your Stoker has plenty of room to roam and work off their excess energy or else they become aggressive. A big backyard to run in circles around and a big fireplace to read in front of. Or idk man just somewhere warm. Dog Rosy can go to a dog park as long as she lives somewhere without winter. Social Disposition: With people Iris doesn't know well, she maintains a composed and unruffled air that indicates that she knows exactly what's going on at all times and that there's no problem whatsoever with anything ever. With closer friends, she may express some doubt or nervousness, and it's a rare friend that actually gets to see the neurotic mess she really is inside. If anything, she'll just mention her issues offhandedly and then refocus the conversation. She's friendly with just about everyone and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, but she also tends to just have a very few CLOSE close friends. Independence: Always willing to help others, but still stubbornly independent herself. She will accept help if she needs it, but good luck getting her to admit that. She loves being around people either way, but she's also content to just sit and be at peace. Kind of middle of the road where this is concerned. Loyalty: Friend to the end, definitely, but primarily with people who manage to make their way into the GOOD good friend circle. Outside of that, she'll mostly take friends' sides in issues, and she'll defend anyone she even slightly cares about against ills, but when there's a conflict between two people on the more outer reaches of her loyalty, she's pretty selective. New Situations: With eagerness, curiosity, and delight. Energy/Play: Iris is middling when it comes to energy, about average. If she's feeling excessively excited or energetic, she'll sing. A lot. Name: Diego Morales House: Azurcrest Profile: Link me. Social Disposition: Warm, friendly and very attentive. Diego loves small groups best, does well in large groups... and then gets nervous in big loud crowds. We're talking like peak season Disney crowds, though, nothing at Gooseberry really gets to him. Diego has a large circle of friends, but tends to pick a very small number of them that he's especially attached to. He hates being alone. Although friendly and extroverted, Diego's suuuuper neurotic and has high functioning anxiety, which means he rarely feels 100% comfortable with anyone or anything. Tends towards being pretty moody and melancholic at his core. Independence: So needy. Diego's kind of an emotional vampire. He's high maintenance because he doesn't function happily alone, and needs lots of reassurance. There's always a new crisis, and he always needs it to be taken seriously. He gives as much as he takes but it's a lot of emotional labor to be genuinely close to him. Loyalty: Devoted in theory. He's weak willed and can be pushed around by stronger personalities, not to mention that impulsive, dangerously self-destructive streak, but there are a small few that he'll pull his shit together for. New Situations: JUST FUCKING JUMPS IN. Diego doesn't think about consequences until about an hour after he's done the thing. He's incredibly open minded and loves trying new things. Energy/Play: Very energetic and playful. Loves banter as well as physical play. Fears: Social rejection. That he's annoying/shallow/stupid/a terrible person/etc. and soon everyone will realize that and leave him. Cars. Traffic. Huge crowds. He responds to fear by getting increasingly high strung, followed by lots of melancholy. Having someone he trusts to talk him through it helps a lot, though. Environment: Diego's pretty flexible. He loves being outdoors and he's very athletic, but he's also content hanging out indoors with the right people. As long as he's not alone, he's probably going to be alright. Rafael is socially gracious buuuuut here's a hard edge underneath all his interactions. He's so ridiculously guarded, that even when he's trying to be sweet, the tone can be a little off. If anyone pushes him, he's severe and harsh. He likes to be in charge, and responds very negatively to being challenged or undermined. BUT he will listen to Cecil and Maggie without argument, because they outrank him. Although not violent, Rafael has anger issues. With friends, though, he's steady, supportive, loving, and protective. His intensity tones down a lot, and he can be actually pretty gentle. Independence: Very independent. Would much rather have people come to him for help than go to them. Loyalty: So loyal. Loyal to a fault sometimes. If you're in his inner circle, Rafael will always defend you, always take your side, backstab for you, whatever. He'll hold grudges forever against people who wrong his friends. I've actually talked to Marin a lot about how Rafael is really hard to get to know, to the point where all of his really close friends are lines I pre-planned as having been established years ago. He's so careful, it's tough for him to let people in. But once you're in, he's 100% behind you forever. New Situations: Cautiously. Rafael hates putting himself in situations he doesn't think he can master. Energy/Play: Kind of... intense energy. He plays to win, and turns fun games into overly serious competitions too easily. He likes teasing and banter, but it's also easy to go from banter to an argument. But if you have thick skin, he's fun and actually very playful! Fears: Losing control. Failure. Being vulnerable or expressing emotions openly. Being seen as weak. Environment: Dancing or enjoying witty conversation. Mantra: I'm handling it. Name: Adeline Foster-Hayes House: AZURCREST Profile: Link me. Social Disposition: Addy is a social butterfly, usually. She's excitable and genuinely happy a great deal of the time. She is so happy for and so proud of so many people. She does very much play up her own ALWAYS ON persona for other people, though. Once she's in a smaller group of people who she's very comfortable with, she mellows way down and also uses bigger words. Independence: it's kind of deceptive maybe, but Addy doesn't actually like leaning on other people for literally anything. She's very independent and is much much better at talking about other people than she is about herself. She would rather be self sufficient, because that means she can cut and run if she absolutely has to, without the other person having to suffer too much of a loss or know more than she is comfortable with. Loyalty: Loyal as hell but ALSO flighty. She's the kind of friend who might wander off to more exciting pastures and then circle back when her attention is drawn back. Or when she deems herself wanted/needed again. As an underlying watermark though, if she likes you even a little, she will have your back if you're hurt or in times of crisis, no questions asked. People earn her undying love and affection by standing up for or being nice to her genuinely even a little. New Situations: Addy approaches new situations face first, ALL IN, but is also smart enough to know when to get out of bad ones Energy/Play: She is so ridiculously energetic. She gets excited easily, talks fast, wakes up early, is delighted by big and loud and colorful things!!! She handles this mostly by talking to people who can tolerate her never sitting still at a like mile a minute pace. And by peeing on the rug doing stuff she knows she shouldn't because it's at LEAST more interesting than sitting still. Fears: The big two are hurting someone she loves by doing some stupid shit, and people treating her too seriously and trusting her with something important and she'll inevitably fuck it up. She does not deal well with the first fear as we have seen, but for the second ensures that very few people take her seriously by being herself, only louder. Environment: GROTTO PARTIES SUM IT UP WELL? Not too fancy, lots of places to flit around, can settle in with people if she needs to. Mantra: STARSHIPS WERE MEANT TO FLY. Idk either. He can be charming and is comfortable enough in his own skin to talk to literally anyone, but it's harder to tap through to the more hidden, warmer Leo. Independence: Fiercely. He deeply respects other people's independence as well, which kind of stops him from getting close to many people. Loyalty: Leo is actually kind of selfish and holds his loyalty as a prize to be given when he feels like it. Not necessarily when anyone's earned it, because honestly you don't have to do much to get it. He expresses loyalty in mostly quiet,unobtrusive ways. He's pretty good at being a steady backbone that you never wanted or needed. New Situations: He approaches with confidence, because otherwise you're half dead in the water anyway. Social Disposition: Sylla is slow to truly warm up to people by default, and can come across as distant and dreamy and wrapped up in her own world. To friends and when in a situation she greatly enjoys, she is enthusiastic and cheery, even when said situation may not exactly call for it. She takes a long time to make friends, having been in a support group of her family for so long, and the Borgins are known for being very secretive and only relying on one another. She is only truly close to those she lives with, and while she can make small talk and conversation to others, that strong vein of English social awkwardness can rear its head. Independence: With her family, Sylla is needy to the point of codependent. When away from them and by herself, she is stubbornly independent and insists she never needs help with anything, and can handle anything life throws at her, even if just to prove a point that teeny tiny little English girls can be just as fierce and powerful as the strongest man. She does like helping others, if only to prove to herself that she can, and to prove herself capable and strong. Loyalty: Her only true loyalty is to her family, second to seeking the best for her house. She can be very clannish, but when tested, sees no problem in dealing with grey areas. It's a Borgin thing. New Situations: With zero chill in needing to analyze and investigate everything about it before she throws herself in. Once she has reviewed the situation to the best of her abilities, she often gets really intense and needs to give it her all (hence signing up for a red badge in hockey.) Energy/Play: Mostly stoic and calm, prim and cool and collected, but when dueling or doing something she enjoys, can be cheery and grinny and giggly. She's very selective and has high standards, but loves what she loves, and hates what she hates. There's no middle ground. Fears: Losing her family, disappointing her parents, failing at something she has invested so much time in. She gets withdrawn and stuck in her own little world when she is fearful, pouty and stubborn and angry at herself, but insists nothing is wrong to others because it's so impolite to trouble others with your own problems. Other: Despite having a cat for the first time this year, Sylla has always wanted a dog, but wants the biggest strongest dog she could have. Preferably a massive hunting dog. She's not stupid enough to deliberately not ask for help when she really needs it, but being independent is a big part of how she sees herself. Loyalty: Selectively devoted to her crew~ New Situations: Plunges in head first, bold and unafraid of consequences, thrives on that adrenaline rush and gets bored if she doesn't get to do anything new for a while. Energy/Play: Can hike for hours, loves long Quidditch practices, parties until the wee hours of the morning... but can also sit still and study for hours when she has to. Independence: Would be okay with living on a mountain somewhere and only seeing other humans like once a month. Loyalty: Extremely selectively devoted. If you earn his trust or love, he will do and be anything you need and it's very hard to get rid of him. New Situations: Approaches with a practiced air of indifference, but is competitive. It kind of depends. If it's something that's up his alley, he's interested and wants to do well? If it's not, he'll pretend he isn't trying but still want to do well. Energy/Play: Highly energetic. Wilde is a very physical person -- he likes to roam around outside, do stunts, etc. He gets restless if he has to stay in one place for too long. Fears: Being irrelevant, opening up and getting hurt for it, failing, never living up to the things he thinks he has to. The type of person plays a factor into how quickly she gets comfortable with them too. She has a core group of GOOD friends, and surprisingly more people she likes and would consider a friendly acquaintance than she might have thought. She's temperamental and wary, but to her friends she is sweet and upbeat and protective. She will cut you if you hurt someone she loves. Independence: She's pretty independent. She had to take care of herself or entertain herself a lot growing up, so she doesn't need help. However, she seeks attention and validation on an almost desperate level. It's subconscious, but it's there. She likes to be told she did good/the right thing. Loyalty: Ride or die friend, here. But if you betray her, her capacity for forgiveness is very small. New Situations: She runs into things head on usually if it involves Quidditch or anything not "important". When it comes to things like relationships or boys or whatever, she's extremely timid but very eager to explore once she gets started. Energy/Play: Ana isn't Energizer Bunny energetic, but she likes to be moving or doing something. The more productive, the better. Her favorite way to burn energy is getting on her broom, but she'll go for runs or do anything else physical too. Fears: Being alone, being unwanted, being laughed at, being ignored, being forgotten.
